Hi Fred, Yes that is absolutely right. We worked on a design so that it would work and be independent of any theme. So we can for our clients either install a version on their individual sites or more often host them all on one of our sites and have different designs for each one.

Great question Joe. What we do is we have all of our client fanpages on the same WP and host it for them. That way we feel we can charge a small monthly hosting fee and they soon mount up so we like that extra income.

One of the two things that we are working on which we think will justify the leap in cost of the developers license will provide a different work around for this as well... As one who has had no previous Facebook development or tools experience I have been able to successfully install the plugin on my "staging" Wordpress site and create a FB fanpage. (I don't do coding...) A very interesting and different WordPress plugin.

And Justin has given great support when needed.

It will definitely be in my toolbox as I upgrade my WordPress site and now complement it with Facebook exposure.

Thanks for bringing that one to my attention. We brought in a new feature recently that allows you to specify the maximum length of a fanpage. I had set it as only 1500 pixels in height and hadn't updated it when I installed the latest version.

Just changed it and it should be working fine!

I do have a concern though.

If I get a Dev license, then I grant a single use license to a client or flip the plugin with a site; I cut my own throat as the Fan Page guy. They now have a working copy of the plugin to update/redesign their own FP, or do it for others. (They too could host other clients on their own site)

Is there any (or could there be) blocking mechanism. Say, to allow them to update content on the Page(s) I designed and supplied-- but to prevent them from creating new Fan Pages or making major (Plugin Supported) changes to the Fan Pages I've supplied? Maybe by inputting my serial number (or something) before I turn the site over to them (and be able to "unlock" it later-- if changes are requested-- and paid for).

Great question. It was for this reason that we went down the route of licensing the software to protect our clients. To be honest we don't think this is likely to be a problem. Most people who buy a fanpage want it for their business and not to become resellers of fanpages.

However it is something we are looking into and on our road map is something to limit the number of fanpages to be created with a single license to stop this from happening.

At the moment our main priority is making the software itself better. However once the additional developer features have been finished and we have added in more templates and pre created custom layouts we will look into features like that plus anything else that our customers request.

It is my mission to make EasyFanPage Design very much the best of breed solutions for creating fanpages and without wishing to toot our own horn too loudly I am really excited by the product as it currently stands and we have some very exciting innovations to come.

Does this still work if a FB user has their https settings enabled especially in Internet explorer or do the path settings need changing etc?

Normally if the https settings are enabled an IE warning box comes up which will stop any outside link or path that is not secure. I am thinking here about potential clients etc or am I just being thick?

Hi there,

This is a great question. The answer is that if you have an ssl certificate on your site then it will and if you don't have an ssl certificate on your site then it won't.

Currently there are a very small amount of users using facebook with the secure mode. Apart from anything else I believe it would stop them being able to play the zynga games like Farmville etc of which there around 100 million plauers!

To give you an idea we have sold about 30 fanpages so far and we havent been using an ssl certificate. No-one has commented or queried this. However for us this is about to change as we are moving our hosting from a shared hosting environment to a dedicated server one. A small price to pay really for the significant growth in our business.

An ssl certificate is actually pretty cheap with one company offering them for free. (StartSSL).

If you have shared hosting then you would need to buy a dedicated ip address. Costs for both of these are not expensive and selling one fanpage for $197 which is where ours start from would cover the current cost of the developer license, the dedicated ip address for those on shared hosting and the ssl certificate for one year.

The training for this is currently being done and should be added to the members area by the weekend.

We will be issuing specific client site licenses and we are trying to find a way that the new settings page which has a list of all the shortcodes on can have a banner for our developer clients to put advise in etc.

Thanks for the reply.I agree about lots of people not having the https activated however a couple of pages I have done have ended up requiring the ssl option but that meant changing any link/path to https etc and was wondering how this would potentially be handled by your theme as going through and doing this is a pain and of course there are issues of external links in this mode as they require the user to agree to the link going out, hope this makes sense.

I think as FB gets more business pages people may use the https more but who knows, just good to know the solutions if they arise and I have had this arise early on! lol

If by "home page" you mean the landing page on Facebook, that function still exists.
It's at:
Edit Page/Manage Permissions/Default Landing Tab

In fact, FB has changed it so that "now" the Default Tab applies to "all" visitors-- whether they've "Liked" or not.

Thanks for the great question bizwebstart. We are working on more detailed videos on setting up a facebook page for the first time but as Lee says yes it is certainly possible to have it so that visitors will be sent to the customized fanpage tab that you will create with Easy FanPage Design.

Thanks again for your questions. I am just in the process of hiring another developer to create something that will make the creation of customized apps for posts easier.

The updated training that we are working on recommends for those with developer licenses that they get a security certificate as they aren't hugely expensive.

When you set up a facebook app for an iframe there is an option there to use the https://sitename details as a standalone for those using the secure method of connecting with facebook so if people are browsing with the https settings they will be taken to the https version of the tab and if they are using facebook normally they will be taken to the unsecure version.

There are several plugins available now for wordpress and whilst I can see some features you offer that arent in the other ones I would still like to see the end result.

(1) Can you add your own theme - to give the fan page the look you like. I create my themes in Artisteer, then set up wp and away you go. Yes I have to build the theme but then its unique to my clients.

(2) Can we add other plugins - such as say a shopping cart?

(3) From your video I couldnt quiet understand do you create pages or that you type the code on one page and that gives you the tabs?

Sorry to ask so many questions - its just a mind field out there and so many things available, I want the easiest solution.

Lots of great questions.

Probably a good fanpage to take a look at is our own one which is referenced in my signature

1) NO, this plugin works independently of any theme. It does have fairly extensive styling options built in with some more to come.

2) I havent tested it with all additional wordpress plugins but as far as we know it will work with most. That is one of the reasons we went for using Wordpress as our platform for creating iframes.

3) Everything is on one post and then using some javascript through the shortcodes you can create different tabs. There are some big advantages associated with this, most notably speed of changing pages.

You are more than welcome to buy a single license of the plugin and see how you get on with it. And yes you can upgrade from one license to another. I've been waiting since facebook made the change to iframes and watching various products be introduced to create fan pages. None of the products I've seen have gotten it right so far in my opinion. Until now.

Leveraging WordPress and doing so as a plugin makes a lot of sense. I especially like the additional functionality you've built in such as the like/reveal content, and jquery components.
