But most people don’t know the details behind what really happened.

Here’s The True “Back Story” Behind the
$2 Million In 4 Days…

It all revolves around a motorcycle dealership.

I wanted to buy a motorcycle dealership that was for sale (I’m a bike nut).

The problem was… I didn’t have the money!

Before I go deeper… I need to let you in on something. You see, for a couple years prior I had been spending a large amount of my time learning how to write copy (how to create a sales pitch).

To say it was not easy is an understatement. It takes a lifetime to become a world class copywriter.

At this point I had put several thousand hours into learning this skill, practicing, etc. It was around this time that I was starting to get really good and was able to put all the pieces together (not just with copywriting but with marketing… everything needed to build a business and put together a success).

This is when I started to become highly confident in my ability to persuade others.

Getting back to the story… I had found a large motorcycle dealership carrying one of the major brands (Honda)… and it was for sale.

But There Was A Major Problem

The problem was I needed $2 Million more than I had to purchase it.

I decided I was going to do it anyway, so I would need to get investors to make this work.

I contacted the broker who was selling the dealership and started communicating with them. I started getting all the information I needed to see if it was…

1. Worth buying… and…
2. If it was worth the price they were asking.

If you’re not familiar with the process of buying a business… let me tell you it can get a little crazy. There are many things you need to look for and stuff you need to check on to make sure you’re buying a business that isn’t going to collapse or to make sure it isn’t being sold because it has major problems.

Here's Where It Gets Really Crazy...

I got bogged down taking care of the details and forgot to get my investors lined up. I wanted to make sure the dealership was a “good buy” before I talked to investors about it… but not so long that I would run out of time to make the deal go through.

In the end… I waited longer than I planned.

Here’s what happened: Negotiations progressed so fast that before I knew it… I only had a week left to have everything in place or I would have to release the contract so others had a chance to buy.

So that left me 7 days to get all the investors in place and move forward... or I'd essentially have to "give it up"!

Here is what I did next. I spent the next day writing a letter to send to prospective investors. I had to convince them to give me $2 Million so the deal could move forward.

To say this was difficult would be an understatement.

So I spent the first day creating the pitch that would convince an investor (someone I had no prior relationship with and who had no clue who I was) to give me lots of money so I could buy a motorcycle dealership.

I spent the next day printing out the letters, putting addresses on the envelopes, and putting just over 300 letters in the mail.

All the letters arrived the next day (I was only mailing to the local area) and I had a few calls in response to the letter.

The end result…

By The Fourth Day I Had $2 Million Dollars
To Buy The Motorcycle Dealership

Well… I had the agreement and the go-ahead.

What was amazing was I had more investors than I needed and had to tell a couple wanna-be investors “Sorry, there’s no room left for you”.

That’s a lot of money to get from investors… much less doing it in less than a week.

I will tell you that those 4 days drained me of every little bit of energy I had. I spent about 18 hours per day working those first 2 days… and by the end of those 4 days I had to take a few days off to recoup. It was NOT easy.

Unfortunately in the end… a couple problems popped up with the dealership after I already had the money… and I found out it wasn’t a good dealership to buy… so I never actually owned the dealership, but I can’t say that I wasn’t glad that I tried.

Moving on…

"Maybe You Just Got Lucky!"

Recently I decided to start helping others start building businesses… particularly online businesses.

In fact… I was planning on launching a coaching program. It took me about 6 months of continous work to take everything I had learned and do automatically… and put it down on paper and divide it into steps so it made sense to others.

Now, before I was going to launch this business, I needed to test it out and make sure people wanted the coaching program and would pay for it (and it was NOT going to be cheap. I was spending an enormous amount of my time helping everyone involved). I was charging just under $5,000 per year.

Here’s How I Did It

First thing first… in order to sell something to people you need…

1. A list of targeted people… and…
2. Something to sell them

I already had plans (although at the time it wasn’t concrete) to have a high ticket coaching program.

BUT… I didn’t have anyone to sell to.

So I built a list of (right around) 800 opt-ins in about 1 or 2 weeks (it was right before Christmas so I wasn’t too focused on it).

It cost me right around $800 for those 800 subscribers.

Because I wasn’t in a rush I only used Google Adwords to push traffic, and I wasn’t too worried about the cost (it averaged right around $1 per lead).

I only had a few keywords I was bidding on and received about 100 opt-ins per day.

So I built that list and figured it would be enough to get a good idea whether or not people wanted this program.

Now I had a list of people to sell to. The hardest part was done.

I then went through the rest of the process.

So what was the end result?

And that list only cost me around $800 to create.

I could have done it for a LOT less had I been trying, but I didn’t really care.

I'm about to tell you something I don’t usually brag about… but I can’t help it… because it forced my next hand...

The reality is... I’m very lazy.

So lazy in fact, that I’d rather lie around and do nothing then do anything that resembles “work”.

After the test, I started planning a big launch… and then massively running traffic to the coaching business through other methods.

But something was really nagging me.

I realized a couple things.

First, like I said, I am really lazy. That can be good at times, but can be bad at other times.

Second... I had other plans and launching the coaching program would have destroyed those plans. The coaching program was going to be a HUGE time commitment for me because I would be helping everyone personally.

In the end I decided it wasn't the right time for it and pulled the plug.
