That sounds like it's probably about right - SocialBot is doing a lot more work than RSSBot is so it takes longer.

Besides the price? LOL...

At a glance, I can only say that they've got outdated services in the list of who they submit too (no longer online) and they've got some limitations in the different packages they offer.

RSS Submit appears to offer some additional functionality that we don't consider necessary for a tool like this, but other than that, they are basically the same.

The core difference for us is that we actively pursue finding new sites to submit to and maintain an online database for RSSBot to receive automatic updates. These are free for life for our customers

To be honest, once the core programming for a system like this is completed, there is nothing particularly special about it that merits charging an arm and a leg for it.

While continually looking for and adding new services costs us in terms of labor, we would be doing it anyways for ourselves, so we just share that with the customers as a side benefit to using our software.

And of course, we've never been accused of being Greedy, selling over-priced, hyped up software

Hi Michael,

Yes - that's what a lot of Article Marketers are using it for...we provide a way to add links manually to SocialBot, so it's not a problem to add all of your article links.

A lot of the sites were completely gone.

Reinhardt, I don't get it...you emailed me on November 26 indicating that you weren't seeing any results with SB and asked for an updated version or a refund. I replied to you the same day asking for more information and a copy of the SocialBot database. I never received a reply.

You emailed me again on December 8th and stated the same thing basically. I replied again asking for more info from you. Because you didn't reply to that email either, I asked Diego to email you on the 12th, just to find out what was up. He never received a reply.

None of the emails bounced back to us and the strange thing is that my emails to you come from the same address as the download email for SocialBot.

Seeing your post here in this thread this morning, I decided to refund you (per both of your requests) because I don't want the situation to drag out for you.

Try running the program again and see if it picks up an update. I just submitted a test URL to see how many were erroring out, and of the 90+ sites I'm registered with, only 9 returned errors.

I have noticed that towards the end of the month, some of the Scuttle sites tend to exceed their bandwidth. That's likely where my errors came from, though I didn't verify.

The aggregators are a one-time deal, and will update on their own once they have the feed.

That is not the case with the ping services. For this reason, Mike suggests in the user manual that you create a separate profile for the ping services alone, so you can go back and ping again without resubmitting your feeds.

You were right regarding the update and yes a majority of the sites had exceeded bandwidth.
As for the Scuttle sites, I gave up on those as they would never accept my captcha code.

I was finally able to start registering more sites. Some of the Scuttle sites just were not sending the confirmation email.
I now have 75 sites set up. The rest were either gone for good, or bandwidth exceeded.

Does anyone know if there is a manual available?
There was no documentation with the download.
I ran a small test yesterday and spidered one of my sites, but today there was no data.

I'm not aware of a way to filter them out. I set the status of those pages to "Exclude for Submission" (right-click the page in the table). You can then sort the table by Status which makes it easier to manage.

Let me try to explaine how filters works, first the filter are wildcards that only works on the url let's say you add this filter and your intention is to not spider all your php urls:

php

what is going to happened is that all the url where the word php appear is going to be filter that also means if you have this url www.mydomain.com/phpsites.htm is going to be filter too to prevent that you add a filter like this:

.php

So if you have any word, character that repeats in all the pages that you want to filter that's your filter, and remember you always have the bulk insert option available in case the spider don't meet your rules

Hi Michael, what I do is create a new profile in the account settings call it "ping" for example, sort the column Ping for the ping sites and check all the ping sites, then you can use that profile to ping anytime you update your content

Hi Michael,

Ballpark, if you purchased everything at the public price, it's currently $931 and roughly half that at the WSO price. So, divide $931 by $19.95 it comes out to just shy of 47 months or darn near 4 years before the cost of membership equalizes with buying everything.

However, because some products go through fairly major upgrades, you still end up spending more outside the membership than inside, which would put you closer to 5 years before things even up.

And when you consider that we continually add new products, it's most likely the membership option is always going to be a winner. Especially if you promote the products - one sale a month covers the membership cost, and you'd have to work hard not to be able to do that, LOL.

We've got a lot planned for 2009 and much more going all the way out to 2012 (we're just waiting for certain technologies to catch up to us, LOL).
