My main method is now direct mail although emails can also work and I have done it. In fact my next project is to come up with a generic video that will sell mobile sites using email because I do have a couple email templates that gets a response. Making custom videos works but it is time consuming.

I do not make face-to-face visits. Never have never will, and I know I lost at least one sale because of that but I am not about to drive 30 miles to the next big city to me in order to try to convince someone they need my service. I would rather mail nationwide and just use the phone (when they call me or ask to be called) and play the numbers game. I have the right tools to make enough sales to make me happy.

I usually do it myself but I allow only 4 "actions" a month for the monthly fee I am charging. An action is me doing something like texting, making a new mobile coupon campaign, etc. Any more than that I charge by the hour: $30 an hour. But I also encourage clients not to text too often as it would cause too many to opt out, and I do set up opt out options for their list as well.

And I do also have a white label account for those clients who want to do it themselves but most don't, at least in my experience. I would never tel anyone not to buy a white label or reseller account with any reputable SMS company because they are useful and will make you money. But OpenVBX, at this time, makes me MORE money.

Nearly any hosting company that can host PHP and MySQL applications can host an installation of OpenVBX. As far as I know that would include any major hosting company but you may want to check to make sure.

I bought a WSO some months back that also used the Twilio API for sms, but it required buying new licenses as your client base grew so I decided against using it. I don't want my business to be dependent on whether or not another person decides to continue supporting the service, and this appears to bypass that issue for the foreseeable future.

I got a follow-up email stating that my 'order was shipped', but I assume that that doesn't mean literally, right? What's the next step after you sign up?

Hi Tom,

Almost all of your clients will have no lists yet. You will have to show them how to create one from table tents, signs, mobile PPC (especially that since they need a mobile site...), newspaper ads, etc. Even a chalk board behind the register will work! In fact a lot of restaurants use chalk/white boards for daily specials and such.

I use my openvbx for its most basic functions, but for a client who needs to set up multiple reminders like your dentist I would set them up with another program (not openvbx) where he or she could handle all that themselves since I will typically only do 4 group messages per month with my openvbx clients. That is why I recommend you sign up with a white label or reseller account with a reputable SMS company in addition to using openvbx.

I am probably going to buy this no matter what your answer, but :-)

Its my understanding that long message texting is treated differently by the carriers than short message texting. That , somehow its not as reliable in terms of delivery, that carriers can intentionally not deliver a sender's messages and not notify the sender in any way.

Is this some version of true?

With openvbx/twilio you can send out 6o messages per minute which is more than adequate for almost any client you may have unless you get a very large corporation. And I have had no complaints about messages not being delivered.

One of the big advantages with long code is you can assign a dedicated LOCAL number to each client and they can use ANY keyword they want. In other words with a white label SMS program, where you share a short code, you would end up with keywords like FREEDESSERT4756 instead of just FREEDESSERT, or VIP, PIZZA, etc. Or just FREE is popular.

Plus I have had only one client even mention short codes. Just not an issue really.

Hey Michael, this sounds great from what I have read so far. I am currently away from home but will be back on Friday and my plan is to start offering mobile sites but I am interested in the sms marketing as well so I just my take you up on this offer.

I think the demo site looks pretty good as well. I do have some questions about the themes but no big deal. I actually just want to know if I'll be able to use my own that I have from Matt Rhodes mobile graphics pack.

Anyway, I'll take a closer look at this when I get back home.

Nothing, I just used that domain as a demo because I was not using it for anything else yet. Just want to clear that up and I do not market to realtors.

I purchased on July 12 the sent email with info you requested to address in google checkout @gmx did not use contact form. I hope this was correct because the email I received requesting this info was from a no-rely email. If not could PM me or let me what email I should sent it too.

I am in the UK but I would still like to use the system to market to the US audience. Can I use email for this instead of direct sales letters? Using a US number at my end to receive calls isn't an issue obviously.

Yes you can do that and I am about to roll out my email system within a week or so, once I get caught up on everyone's installation and sites.

I already tested the email system and it does work. It involves email and YouTube and I am in the process of re-doing the video using a professional. This will be a totally streamlined process where you only have to edit one video one time. While it is not quite as effective as customized videos (which takes a long time to do and is a major hassle) it does still work as an effective means of turning totally cold leads into warm prospects who call YOU.

The guy I have doing the video is the best I have seen, and is a total sales pro.

The email/youtube system will be free to buyers of this WSO. You will also have your own video in which you can edit anyway you like.
