What Is The License?
Personal Use on as many domains as you yourself own.

What is the latest version available?
The latest is version 1.4.2 - where we increased memory capability in streaming large files, for lower memory constrained servers and hosting accounts. In addition, we now allow for unique MIME-types (geek jargon for file extensions other than the 25+ general ones we already have incorporated).

Does this only handle Amazon S3 files?
No, SecureDL Plugin handles any files, anywhere. IF you have an S3 account, wonderful - it will automagically create the corresponding (and necessary) URL parameters for streaming or downloading any securely protected S3 files.

In addition, SecureDL will handle cross domain delivery of files as well (as with our v1.4.1 update we now handle streaming from even redirecting, load-balancing servers, like MediaFire).

Can I use SecureDL's functionality within Theme or Template files?

If I understand correctly, the secured links only worked if clicked from the secured domain? The download page would still have to be "hidden" on your domain?

If I understand your question correctly Allan - this isn't a 'login' type authentication... nor does it speak of a secure download page perse.

The authentication that we speak of - in securing the download link - is primarily geared towards setting up a download link, video, or audio files, or [heck] any url/link - so that the person can only access the contents THRU that link - if they've been verified as being a referred to that destination properly and/or having the link access still be unexpired.

One way of doing this is commonly used with using Amazon S3 storage (file serving) - whereby you can protect your files hosted there, and typically they're available for public distribution... if they get your URL (link to those hosted files).

But in using our SecureDL Plugin for WordPress you'll never have to worry 'bout that - as you can fully turn off 'public' access on those Amazon S3 links/files, and distribute them via the SecureDL Plugin links.

In addition, SecureDL allows those without an Amazon S3 service to do the same on their own server - locally, as if they're using the security of an Amazon S3 -type service.

Flexibility in delivering files, or anything digitally to the 'client' (browser user) if they should actually have access to it - just gets a ton easier with this plugin .

(1) If I understand you correctly, I can use SecureDL on any publicly visible WP page/post and NO ONE will be able to figure out the actual download link for the video, zip, audio, or other file that I use it with? Is this correct? So even if I "view source" for that page I will not be able to figure it out?

(2) Can you provide a simple post/page with one of these links so that I can take a look?

(3) So the only way someone can actually view/download a protected link is to be on the site where it is used? Right?

(4) If all of the above is correct, then using this in the download page for a product that has been purchased will help. But somehow I still need to take precautions to make the download page invisible to everyone except the purchaser. Right?

(5) Are you aware of any known ways to subvert SecureDL? If you are, you don't have to explain how here, just let us know if there are any and the degree of difficulty.

Yes, they'll see an obscure URL/link reference, but they'll not be able to figure it out.

Hmm... we do - but not handy for distribution necessarily... but the links are totally obscure - see answer to (1.) above...

That's one option... whereby you can force them to click a link and we check that they made that click from on your domain. Keep in mind that you can do cross domain downloading as well as downloading/streaming files from "below" and "above" the [root] of your server.

Yes... indeed!
But when using WordPress - you can force it to only allow them if they're logged into your WP install [via "require login"] (typic. this means they've met your credentials for checking - but this is only an example).

Right, but it also prevents the sharing of the link itself... as it either expires or is simply invalidated, unusable.

Depends on how you use it... most cases, they'll never see the url that SecureDL creates at all. Unless they view the source of the page - and even then, it'll be meaningless to them.

They'll never see the shortcode.

We've updated the version to v1.3.1 -

The change? Well, albeit - it may not even affect most of you - but when using our cross-domain feature (ie. pulling, streaming a file from another domain/server altogether) - if the server you're pulling from (ie. mediafire.com) is using redirection to load-balancing servers for file distribution (yeah, pretty geeky) then it would not stream properly...

We've fixed that - as we now check for that scenario 'on-the-fly' and make the necessary adjustments and voila - v1.3.1 .

So, after a few hours of playing - we've got this new version, which accommodates for these types of scenarios (no extra work needed)

To get your updated version, just login to your members area as directed when you initially got your download from before and download your new version from the Downloads section.
