Twilio is a platform primarily for developers to create voice and sms applications. The provide local phone numbers that are sms enabled and toll-free numbers that do not support sms. They provide the platform and developers like myself create applications that use their system as the back end.

Yes, it can do exactly what you're saying which is actually a very cool idea. You would just need to set up a separate list for each zip code or group of zip codes.

Twilio currently has international sms in beta. I haven't see a date on when they think it will come out of beta so I don't know how to answer that directly. There are some unkowns with international sms. Twilio does state that they are trying to keep it at the same price across the board - just $0.01 per message.

Are you texting "STOP KEYWORD"? You need to send the word "stop" followed by the keyword of the list you want to unsubscribe from in order to get the reply from the list, assuming that the stop message was entered.

1. This depends on their mobile plan. The charge would come from their mobile carrier to call or send the sms to a U.S. number.

2. The twilio price to receive an sms message is $0.01 and $0.01/min for calls

Might you consider in future that you actually state in your emails to your list (made of International folk) that this product is for US Offline only, that would save us a ton of time, better still, not 'pollute' our email with products and links that are of no use to us.

I have my own Text Messaging Software www.YadaText.com but this just made my program even better. This is a dead simple way to make it easier for people to sign up for your list or to subscribe to your text notification list. I will simply use the twilio program as an option for signing people up and then transfer their numbers into my own program lists and avoid the per text charge entirely. Thanks Chad. I've been trying to figure this last piece of the puzzle for YadaText and this is it. Now I can use both web forms and cell phone options. Love it.

Bought last night and was blown away when I tested the voice to text functionality! Received the text message not even 1 sec after listening to your short VM message.

Didn't read through every post yet, so don't know if you've addressed the following yet:

1) Being that this is after all our "clients" list, that we will be managing [or setting up for them to manage]...having an "automatic" list backup [or export or download] feature would be a fantastic selling point. As you said already, We'd need to be able to restore or import the list/ database. IMHO I think this would be one of the first updates to protect our clients in the event of a server crash, etc.

2) If you can't get this update done in the near future...perhaps you can make a video to show how to add multiples into the backend db, as well as how to backup/ save the db to our HDD after we've built a list? The db's [phone #'s] are stored with twilio, correct?

3) I noticed in my local area code there are only 30 numbers displayed...if 3 or 4 of us run with this and use up the #'s [however unlikely] does twilio buy more? ... Or?

4) What updates will be coming in the next few weeks or so?

Yes...twilio gives you a $30 credit to test the system and you can add as little as $10 to your account to upgrade from the trial [I added $10 and have $39 left after I purchased a local phone #].

You can easily add funds [at the push of a button] at any time, once you sign up. And twilio also gives you the option to automatically fund your account once it falls below a certain balance.

I do not have an issue with this product, I bought it before any comment was made on this thread about whether it would work outside the US or not (and it is an awesome product) my issue was with your comments on post #232, some of which you have removed now and apologized for..
Whilst I may understand your frustration with repeated questions from warriors 'will it work in my country' you have to understand some people here are indeed new, foreign, pushed for time (to read 5 pages of a thread) and yes dare I say even lazy, ... welcome to the real world.. sometimes patience/tolerance can go a long way with a valued subscriber.
