What formats can you work with for formatting? What if we have a fairly raw OpenOffice odt format with pictures and different font styles and sizes? I formatted it but it doesn't look so good in the Kindle previewers. : )

A word about the formatting: Amazon has a whole section on how to format, but honestly, for this price, it was not worth me going through and trying to format it myself.

I've already posted a review but I just wanted to say that Alex has gone beyond the call of duty for me. Alex even found a couple of mistakes within my book and asked if I wanted it corrected. I'm not say proof reading is part of this special offer but it was really cool that Alex let me know.

He also did some quick updates on 4 of my covers and re-sent the entire package which was not part of the deal. Talk about over-deliver!!!

I will be working with Alex for a long time and he is my 'go to guy' for anything related to creating covers and formatting...

Just wanted to chime in and say Alex did a formidable job with my book. I just sent him the word doc and I got it back formatted within about 36 hours. I didn't need to use his cover option as well, but looking at some of his samples, I certainly will be doing in the future.

I'm a complete newbie to kindle publishing, so this was $20 definately well spent

I've also got some skills in graphics and I'm used to make my own ecovers, some are outstanding and some would need a refresh. Just want to let people know this is a great service for getting a cover and Kindle formatting. I couldn't believe how nice my ebook cover looked.

It was also great not to have to worry about Kindle formatting. Alex provides you with a PDF of the whole upload process. I just finished uploading mine in about 20 minutes. The only reason it even took that long was for me to write a good description of the book along with spend some time figuring out the best categories for it. If you had that stuff ready to go I think you would spend closer to 5 minutes!

So with this service you don't have to worry about doing all the Kindle stuff. You just need a word document and a title idea and Alex will take care of the rest.

I'm really happy to have found his service. He's very nice, helpful and professional. Again, the covers look great!

Now THAT was easy.

Just sent my .doc and title to Alex. Within a couple days he had a rough draft for the cover -- perfect, no changes needed. And a couple days after that he sent me both the high-res cover graphics, the formatted .mobi book and instructions for uploading it all.

Sure, I could have learned how to format it myself. But why bother, when Alex did such a great job?

The normal turnaround time is 3 days for the cover design. Once you approve the design, it will be another 2 days for the CreateSpace formatting.

If there are issues with the original document that need me to correspond with you, that may increase the turnaround time.

There was a discussion on PhotoDune about this, and the general consensus was that for a Kindle cover, you needed the extended license for images, not the standard one. Is that what you understand as well? All photo sites have this type of standard/extended license I think. Which do you use?

I've been looking into this further and it looks like there are slightly different rules depending on which site you get the images from. They seem to have a common element in that if your publication is over 250,000 copies, you need the extended license.

Can I ask which photo sites you use?

I really want a cover or two created, but I'd want to check the individual sites themselves.
