| ![]() I was recently asked by a client to create QR Codes to place on their invoices and statements. I found many online sites that will create these codes for us, but I found that they all spit out different QR codes for the same landing page. To make a long story short... I didn't trust these sites to create my clients QR Codes. So after a bunch of research I decided that the one place that has a service that made QR codes that I trusted was Google. Google has an API available to do just what I wanted. So I made this simple, little and fast program to take advantage of that API. This is how Simple QR Codes was born. With Simple QR codes you just put in the info needed in the screenshot above and press the "Generate QR Code" button. This then pops up your QR code to view. On that screen you can press the "Save" Button to then save the QR Code to your computer as a PNG file. Make sure to do any resizing in the PNG format before converting it to another format like JPEG or GIF with your favorite graphics editor. Also make sure that you always keep it to scale which is a perfect square. Try to generate the correct size from the program and avoid resizing if possible. Resizing can decrease scan-ability if not done properly. The uses for QR Codes are only limited to your imagination. They are becoming very popular. I have to admit I said I would never use them and now I find myself looking for new ones to scan! Requirements: Windows w/ .Net Framework 4.0 45 Day 100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee Sorry this will not run natively on a Mac. However it will run in a Windows Emulator such as Parallels. |

"Why PNG? PNG is a scalable vector graphic so it suffers no loss when being re-sized." ahh no ... .eps or svg are vectors png is used for transparent backgrounds - and is a raster - ie bitmap image |

Portable Network Graphics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It appears I took the "lossless data compression" meaning incorrectly. I will also edit the sales copy to correct this. thanks.

If it produced a vector I would be interested "lossless data compression" - that's because they are a small file (low resolution) to begin with - great for the web but not very good at all if you want to enlarge 'em |

I see the listing for the different listings of QR codes that can be generated, but can you go a bit more in depth as to what types of options we have for each type of QR code (URL, SMS, etc.) the software generates. It would also be very handy if your QR code generator also had the ability to create a line if tent above and below the QR code, such as "Text Pizza" above to QR code and "to 12345" below the QR code so folks do not have to add the text seperately when formatting the document that will be using the QR code. Without knowing exactly how the different QR codes are formatted for production, this is just another QR code generator and a financial risk at best. |

Most basic level is a smart phone user with a QR app scans the code and is taken to a website or other function. I am not here to sell you on QR codes though. This is more of a tool for those that know what they are and how to use them. You can get really creative with them. There are lots of websites that go into detail on them as well as some good wso's on the topic. Quote:
I don't want to get involved with the text. I feel that is something that can be easily done later and with more options then if I did it here. Thanks for chiming in with that info!

be more efficient, than a 72 dpi file, because (as mentioned previously) enlarging can cause a "blurry" output, which could cause issues when scanned ? And/or which program (if any) could convert the file from 72 dpi to High res, without any blurring, and have a crisp, clean output for an enlarged file ? Apologies if I am talking out of my rear. ![]() Also, Is there some sort of security for QR codes, so they are not plagiarized, and abused. ? Thanks MArk

There is loss when blowing these up larger. So I would not recommend using this for something you want to blow up and put on a billboard... but for business cards, magazines, etc... it should be fine.

With a default margin of 4 you can go up to 547 x 547. Basically the limit on the API is 300,000 pixels. So I took the square root(300,000) = 547.722558 to get 547.That turns into about 5.69" x 5.69" in actual size without any loss. This also includes the white border/margin. You can reduce the margin from 4 to make the white space less. Making the QR Code larger then this in a graphics program will result in some sort of loss.
