Dear Warriors,

Doing keyword research to find and pinpoint the profitable keyword phrases for your marketing is critical to your success if you want to rank in the search engines organically for those terms and get TRAFFIC.

Also, you don't want to spend time on keywords so competitive that you have very little chance of ever getting any decent traffic from them. It's far easier to target search terms with lower numbers of competing pages that get search volume than it is to target a highly competitive keyword phrase that everyone is chasing after.

As a hypothetical example which of the following looks more attractive to you?

1) A keyword phrase with 500,000 competing pages that gets searched for 30 times a day in Google

2) A keyword phrase with 600 competing pages that gets 40 searches a day in Google?

The easy money is in number option 2. It's easier to rank for a keyword phrase that has low competition and get on page 1 in the search engine listings for these terms. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I've just purchased my Valentine's domain name, and expect to have it all up and running in the next couple of days.

The beauty of niches like this is that the interest repeats itself year-on-year, time and time again. It's a lovely product oriented 'cyclical' niche. So on top of the profits you make between now and February 14th on the site you are building, this time next year you'll also be positioned with a mature site on the run-up to this 'special date'

I always view sites like this as 'keepers' because they produce income spikes at specific times of the year.
