On Sunday the horrific news of a great tragedy out in The Philippines reached us.

Just 8 days before Christmas ... a time when residents were, like many of us, looking forward to gifts, family reunions, celebrations ...

Disaster struck the country that provides the fantastic workforce that helps so many of us work efficiently, when The Philippines was hit by Typhoon Sendong.

Typhoon Sendong (Washi) dropped over 180mm of rain in less than 24 hours and caused severe flash flooding to the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

The cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro City were hit the worse and the area has suffered severe damage and human loss.

654 people have been claimed dead, hundreds more are missing, and nearly 100,000 Filipinos have been displaced after the flood waters destroyed everything in it's path during the late hours of the night.

The city's power & water supplies were shut down for nearly 24 hours and many Filipinos need your help.

Frankly this is an industry-impacting disaster. With over 20,000 individuals affected by this tragedy and many people losing their homes this is something that concerns all of us, whether or not we are currently working with Filipinos.

I feel so sad this christmas. Last time we talked I said about
probably it is not a typhoon, later then they gave our area a signal
number 1 which means a warning sign, but then around 10pm on friday
everything happened so fast, the rain was so heavy and the wind was so
strong.

Everyone was asleep including me. Caught unaware around 1 am
everything went dark and the water flashed so fast, after 1 minute the
water level shoot upto 8-10 feet high.

We could not find a way to get to the roof because it was so high. So what we did we were holding tight on the windows until such time the nippa house on our neighbor got flipped and floated near our house and that gave us a way to climb up to the roof. We almost died on that day. We could not save anything even my pc but only ourselves.

We waited 4hours for the water to go down. It was so cold we could not stop crying, our neighbors were crying and screaming looking for their sons and daughters, it was so dark and we could not do anything but only Pray. We manage to save our 3 dogs also. I am happy that God gave us a hand to climb up the roof even though we were so tired. I am thankful that God gave us a second chance.

Right now I do not know where to start, I lost my computer and I don't want to lose this Job. Please give me time to find a way to get online. I am here at my cousins house maybe I can ask help from him. Thank you so much and I hope for your kind consideration. God Bless You always.

Hello sir, hope this is not too much to ask. Sir, can I loan for $100? I decided to send my wife and 2 kids to my inlaws into their province which is not affected by the flood. People here are getting worried regarding our health because our place starts to smell bad (dead people and animals). Hundrerds of bodies remained unclaimed until this moment. Our local government still can't decide if they will initiate mass grave.

That is why for now, I'll send my family far from here to keep them safe. For now, we do not have water as well. It's difficult to stay here.

We have so far sent the first donation to Save The Children for their Sendong Fund. It was going to go to the Philippines Red Cross but they had their account temporarily banned.

We will be sending the next donation to The Red Cross and also to the two charities recommended by our VAs shortly. Just trying to figure out the cheapest way to get it there.

Last summer I was lucky enough to take a cruise. Many of the workers on the ship we from the Phillipines. I hope all of them and their families and friends are safe.

I keep thinking about the married couple I met who were both working together on the same ship. They were going home in November for a 4 month holiday with their young son 2 years old. I live across the bay directly where Iligan City is located. I was there a few weeks earlier for a business trip.

Our province was also hit by typhoon Sendong, and my hometown was among the three towns which experienced flash floods during the cataclysm. Fortunately, there were no lives lost and damage to property has, according to latest reports, been minimal.

We are organizing relief efforts here, just yesterday I sent out bags of used clothing to a friend who was in the thick of relief activities for both Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. A lot of people here are trying to help in whatever way they can - that, in spite of the fact that a lot of them are in dire economic conditions too.

Many of us here feel that it is better to give than be at the receiving end in situations like this.

Government offices and institutions, schools and many business establishments in our province have canceled their scheduled Christmas parties and decided instead to donate the funds intended for the parties to the typhoon victims.

Yet in the wake of the stark consequences of typhoon Sendong, we feel that all these still pale in comparison to the enormity and immediacy of the needs of thousands of Iliganons and Cagayanons right now.

That is why I have nothing but profuse gratitude and the deepest admiration for the organizers of this awesome WSO. This is really outstanding and will no doubt immensely help the typhoon's victims. Again, thanks to you, guys!

I live in this part of the planet. The P.I. is just 1,500 miles away and my community is comprised of roughly 30% Filipinos. Many have family and/or friends who have been affected by this disaster.

It seems that every year these gentle people are hammered by one calamity or more.

I can't thank you enough for doing this.

I didn't even look at the products that were included! I purchased it because the money is going to a great cause. I hope others will do the same.

I spoke to my VA who lives in one of the affected areas. Thankfully her and her family survived. Their house quickly filled with water almost up to their necks. Her house although still standing has a lot of damage. They do not have water and must go a couple of miles to get water from a broken pipe. They have lost friends, loved ones, and schoolmates. It brings tears to my eyes as she is like family to me.

Please everyone think about the lives that have been affected. Don't hesitate just buy this if for nothing else but to help people who truly need it right now.

Yes, these are real people and real lives we're talking about here. I literally would not be a successful internet marketer without my Filipino crew. They amplify my efforts, and over time they've become my "far away family".

About my VAs:

* One is missing, hasn't been seen or heard from by anyone I could reach
* One of my VAs has a cousin missing
* One of the VAs I was employing last year lost 9 family members
* Another has been completely washed out, lost *all* her belongings

I'm hoping against hope to hear from the VA that's missing...

I heard about this around 3am this morning and am amazed at how it's grown in such a short time. Kudos to Justin and Joe wrangling this WSO and my thanks to both of them for allowing me to participate.

My thought and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy in the Philippines.

Still, it wasn't anything like this one.

Friends, if you haven't ever been in something like this, imagine Katrina in multiples, and with only a fraction of the infrastructure and outside support.

I don't think we can imagine what it would be like in PI disaster area right now.

We need to take time out to care and feel the pain. Buying this is a great start, and any further donations will also help. Not yet, but when things settle a bit, it will also help to give some job opportunities, PI has wonderful VAs (virtual assistants) - keep this in mind.

Some of my team is in the affected area. I hadn't heard of the storm until Joe sent me an update email on the backlinks status. So, I checked in with one of my guys to see what's up, & here's what he shared via email:

Employee:

"Hello sir,

Thank you sir for the attachment (.pptx and .pdf) I really appreciate it, and it really help a lot. And sorry for the lil delay sir, We had a storm in our city and had a black out until now, so I went to my girl friends house to have internet I to get charge.

D."

"...a storm??? You understate the conditions...I heard that yesterday, Illigan City was hit hard by Typhoon Washi, and more than 650 people are known dead, with many more feared dead. Many are still not accounted for.

Are you and your family okay? Let me know if/how I can help..."

Employee:
"Yes sir that's true, and I'm so sad about what happen here, I was really heart broken with those who loss their loved ones...we got stuck in the water 4 an hour getting some things that are just very important to us, putting on the roof in our house even if we don't save all those things...we're so blessed at the same time because my family is still fine with me...Luckily no one in my family got hurt...I'm so scared coz others keep searching for their member of their family that has been lost. Very heartbreaking tragedy on that day in Dumaguete and other places that were affected by the typhoon...many died in just one day...still our house is covered with mud, our house is near the river...we were affected by the flash flood...The only thing that I secured is my family of course, and some things that are important, and also our clothes was taken by the flash flood...But still I'm so glad sir because no one in my family got hurt. I was so hurt looking at those people that loss their family member, this is my 1st time witnessing this kind of tragedy sir...

very thankful to see my family is safe...

Still we're recovering on it sir, at least in this situation we're complete...no one lost and died..on the other side I'm sad for our neighborhood because of their loss..."

...and despite all of this, he was still trying to get the work done. 3 weeks ago I had to tell him to take the week off to be with his family, because his grandfather had just died. Now, I had to tell him to NOT work and be with his family & friends - talk about gratitude & a work ethic!

I'm very relieved -- heard from all my team members. All are accounted for and alive, albeit with various levels of personal property loss. Every one of them has at least one family member affected -- injured, missing, or confirmed dead -- so this is a real close-to-home hit. That's primarily what made me take action -- I can't possibly count on others to help me when (not IF) the "next one" hits here.
