The first WSO gives people a jumpstart to get pick their topic and write quality table of contents titles. After all the writing of the book is done, they need to use the KDP Select Promotion to get their books to rank high.

Once that part is done, they now need to know how to monetize their books with the KDP Select Program because there are 2 features in the KDP Select Program. I know there are a lot of controversial talks on this topic thus this WSO to show people how to MAXIMIZE the potential of the KDP Select Program to optimize the Total Revenue in the Sales Units and the Borrowed Units. **For EVERYONE: I actually updated a NEW BOOK TEMPLATE CHARTS yesterday for all previous buyers via the follow up in the aweber letter.**

You don't really need to do your Kindle book sales & accounting because Amazon Kindle updates your Royalty sales every week and you also get a final excel report for the month of Royalty 2 weeks after the month is finished.

The BOOK CHARTS are valuable because you want to keep track of the number of sales after you do the promotion. During promotion time, you don't get any royalty at all. But as soon as the promotion is over, the numbers will continue to go up, so you need to do some subtraction.

I have never been good with numbers, but now I am forced to become an accountant to try to figure out how much I am making for these books during the month of January. And the numbers keep going up.

So if you can keep track a bit and monetize your sales, you can experiment how long to do your promotion and what price is good for your books. Move it up $1 or move it down $1 and see which works better.

I did go ahead and purchase your other Kindle product so now I have both of your Kindle products.

Great. I think you are new. So use that procedure to jumpstart your kindle empire.

When I started, I didn't use that procedure. I was just doing it for my hobby niche.

When you are new, you need to piggy back on others success, and once you get a few of your own books in, you can use your own books to jumpstart your newer ones. Soon a few months down the road, you have your own high ranking book empire. Probably by then, someone else will piggy back on yours.

It's difficult to decide how much to include in a WSO because on the one hand, you want it to be newbies friendly and on the other hand, if I include a lot of 'details' then it demotivates the already experienced kindle publishers.

But it's good that from the responses of people, I hear that Geoff, Johnny and James Jones and Jay Boyer are providing those kindle membership courses because most people need more detailed information regarding formatting, uploading, etc.

I don't have membership forums, so you can ask your questions here. And I'll do my best to answer more detailed questions regarding pen names, formatting, uploading, public domain works, etc.

Also...a bit off topic -- today as I was perusing the Amazon Kindle store I picked up a free copy of your Piano Instruction ebook....and it's awesome!!! I used to be a beginning level piano teacher (I only taught children ages 4 to 9, because I didn't think I was even good enough to teach piano except for "Level A".) Even formerly making it as a piano teacher, I never learned or understood how the chords work together...and within 1 hour of going through just half of your piano book I was playing the first two songs like an improv pro!

So just want to say you touched my life in two ways...with your WSO and with your Kindle piano book. Thanks I almost feel like we're old friends...and I will be purchasing your video piano instruction from your website soon! Thanks!

You are so smart and found my hobby niche - both my website and the kindle store.

Piano is not really a hobbie niche and the difficult thing is that I want to insert VIDEOS into kindle because learning piano without videos loses half the fun. Still investigating what is possible at the moment.

I had always wanted to IMPROVISE but never got someone or books to teach me. So the path to learn to improvise is learning how chords work, chord progression and to play a bit by EAR. (Those are the secret steps!)

I was lucky enough to receive an advance review copy of this guide. The following is a slightly edited version of the review from my freelance writing blog...

Rosa Suen has prepared a concise, screengrab-illustrated guide for Kindle e-book authors to making (more) money from the KDP Select program.

For those who don’t know, KDP Select is a new program allowing authors of Kindle e-books to earn money by allowing their titles to be lent out to US Amazon Prime customers (though authors don’t have to be US-based themselves). Such customers are allowed to borrow one Kindle e-book free of charge per month under the program. Obviously, authors don’t get any royalties from this, but Amazon has set aside a substantial fund which is shared out every month according to how many times each e-book has been borrowed. With low-cost e-books, your earnings per loan are almost certain to be higher than your royalties per sale.

The KDP Select Program has been the cause of much discussion among Kindle authors, with some contending it offers a poor deal for authors - largely because, if you want to take part, you are barred from selling your e-book digitally through any other outlet (e.g. Smashwords). Rosa is the author of around 150 (non-fiction) e-books, however, and she shows clearly through her own sales figures and earnings that the program is working very effectively for her.

One key aspect of the advice concerns how to use the opportunity available to KDP Select authors to list their e-books free of charge for up to five days per month (consecutive or otherwise). With stats from ten different e-books, Rosa clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of this strategy for generating interest in an e-book and getting it into the Amazon best-seller lists. She compares sales generated (on non-free-promotion days) with loans per month, and shows the total earnings in each case. She discusses how she intends to refine her sales and pricing strategy to maximize her earnings from each title. She also sets out what she has discovered about the best price points for Kindle e-books.

I found Rosa’s systematic approach to marketing using the Kindle Select program impressive, and the specific examples very enlightening. The guide doesn’t actually tell you anything about devising or writing Kindle e-books - although Rosa does have another report, also available as a WSO, which covers this subject.

If you’re a Kindle author and have been wondering whether to take the plunge with KDP Select, I highly recommend this modestly priced guide. It may not have all the answers, but I guarantee it will give you lots of food for thought. It also demonstrates a systematic, math-based way of analysing the returns you are getting from applying Rosa’s strategy and fine-tuning it to boost your profits still further in future. Incidentally, along with the report you also receive 10 charts (plus one already filled in as an example) to help you apply the strategy to your own titles.

Wow, this is GREAT! It is actually very easy to make money once we get the system going. The key is FOCUS. While this one is selling, you can now create your second one (hopefully in the same series if possible). And all these little books add up. When the sales slows down, do another day of promotion. Remember to record your numbers so that you can keep track.
