The Amazon Hotdrops plugin places 1-15 extra product ads on your site anywhere you want them - along your right- or left-hand Sidebar, above, below or even in the middle of your body content, and everybody's themes and layouts are different, so we didn't do a demo site. Great plugin but I have a few questions: so I have a review website with a lot of categories and product reviews in different niches, will your sidebar plugin display products based on which category are my visitors?

For ex. if they are reading an LG digital camera review, will they see in the sidebar only LG camera bestsellers?

Or if they are on a circular saw review, they will only see bestsellers from this category?

You could easily show (visually) as to how the widget looks like so that we might compare it with Amazon Slide Show, Carousal or Deals Widget!

Also what's the size of display so that we might decide if it fits into our sidebar or not.

I assume it's a multi-site license. Is it?

And what about refund policy?

Hi Clay. I haven't seen too many Amazon review sites that are that unspecific, in their niche, to show LG cameras on one page and circular saws on the next. What would be the domain... camerassawsandeverythingelse.com?

But seriously, the plugin's sidebar display comes from adding Widgets to your sidebar, just like any other Widget. The Widget's settings only allow one Keyword or Browse Node, and in most Themes, the same widgets appear in every page & every sidebar. Some themes have primary, secondary, etc. sidebars that you can assign to specific post or pages, so you could add several different Amazon Hotdrops widgets to different sidebars, each with it's own Keyword/Node category.

The Shortcodes that allow for placing the extra ads in the content area (not the sidebar), however, will allow for changes in product categories, from page to page, simply by making changes to the shortcode template for each post.

Size-wise, it defaults to fit into any sidebar, of varying widths.
And, yes, once you purchase the plugin, you can put it on as many sites as you llike.

Quick Review...

What I REALLY LIKE about the plugin is that you can make it VERY SPECIFIC. For instance, I have a site sells Kenwood stereo receivers, and with some plugins/tools/software that I've used, they have displayed not only home stereo receivers, but car stereos, car harness kits, remote controls, other brand receivers etc - Which I honestly feel causes my site to have a LOWER CONVERSION RATE.

With the plugin installed, every single product displayed is a home receiver of the brand I want, which is exactly what people are coming to my site for, which should drastically increase my conversion rate, which in turn should make me MORE MONEY.

At one point, I was under the impression that as long as the products were at the very least "loosely related" that I would in the end make more sales, but as I've looked at stats for the last few months, guess what? Those other products DON'T SELL, and by displaying them, I'm actually losing sales.

So, for $10 or so, this plugin is definitely a winner in my book just based on the time it saves me, and the fact that it will help me display not only the best sellers, but will allow me to laser target which products are shown.

From what I can tell so far - The one that you use as a widget really depends on the theme your using - If the theme support custom widgets and will show different widgets on different pages, you could display GPS on one page and STEREOS on another.

Using the short code though, you can show whatever you want in any given post, as you can put the short code filled in with the product details wherever you want.

So, if I have a general site with content, and one article is about Coffee Maker reviews, I can use the short code to display a list of best seller coffee makers, and if the next post is about Car Stereo reviews, I can use the short code to display Car stereos, so there is a good flexibility there.

So far, I'm impressed because of the flexibility it gives you and how "narrowed down" you can get the products you display - This should increase my conversion rates quite a bit.

LOL...No, Amazon.com isn't too unspecific

But they're Amazon, and nobody on this forum (that I know of) is trying to compete with them by putting up super-general sites like amazonproductreviews.com.

Simply because of the nature of keywords & ranking, most of us pick one sub-niche, like GPS Navigators, or even one specific model #, like the Garmin nuvi 1405LMT, then erect & try to rank one site at a time just for that sub-niche or model.

But that's just what most of us "individual marketers" who aren't behemoth Amazon, try to do. If you're having success with blogs that cover lots of different product niches all on one site, I salute ya', and more power to you

When you want to display only one specific brand of a product, like Canon without Nikon SLR cameras, use the Keyword entry box and leave the Browse Node box empty...put Canon Digital SLR in the Keyword Box, you should get mostly/only Canon results

Yes. Some people reported this similar issue of it only displaying vertically on certain themes. We are releasing an updated version, by tomorrow, that fixes this and provides a whole 2nd template in the Settings, for columnar "grid" displays. Thanks for asking.

Wolf, Amazon only displays star ratings through their RSS feed, but if you pull Bestsellers by entering a Keyword, rather than a Browse Node #, Amazon switches to their API feed, which does NOT show star ratings.

So if you want to show stars for sure, and you want Bestsellers as your list type, leave the Keyword and SearchIndex entries blank, and enter the proper Browse Node number (the little blue "?" links you to the findbrowsenodes site) and you'll have a better chance of pulling star ratings

YES Hotdrops will integrate with no trouble in Collen's WP theme. I have 2 sites built with her theme, and it fits right in the sidebar or content, no problem

Your Amazon Affiliate ID is your personal ID with Amazon, that usually looks like about 8 digits, a dash, then a 2-digit number, like:

annasite-20

Your Tracking ID is the number Amazon assign's to your links when you put links from your sites to Amazon's pages or individual products. It's usually much longer, and the link will include both the Tracking ID AND you Affiliate ID.

i bought your Plugin last week and builded it in two of my sites. The problem: Amazon does not count any clicks on the Ads!
To check out the problem I created a test affiliate ID, so I can track especially the clicks on 'these' Amazon-Links. Nothing happens. The Plugin-Stats says, for example, 7 clicks a day, but in the Amazon-Backend I see nothing.
Any ideas for that?

Can you tell me if it's possible to have the product links open in a new tab/window so that the customer still has my site open in its own tab? Is there a setting I might have missed? Thanks, Bill

I haven't altered the template and it seems to be listed in the template.

Question: I don't mean to be a dunce, but is my TrackingID from Amazon the same as the Amazon Affiliate ID? Can't seem to find "Affiliate ID" in the Amazon Affiliates site, and want to make sure I get credit for the clicks on these hotdrops. Thanks!

GRAB IT B4 MORE HAPPY BUYERS JACK UP P Hi Seth, i bought your Plugin last week and builded it in two of my sites. The problem: Amazon does not count any clicks on the Ads! To check out the problem I created a test affiliate ID, so I can track especially the clicks on 'these' Amazon-Links. Nothing happens. The Plugin-Stats says, for example, 7 clicks a day, but in the Amazon-Backend I see nothing. Any ideas for that?
