Easy explanation for beginners on how to get started with Kindle.

Some goods ideas on cover and content. Certainly well worth the price.

If they had this WSO back in the olde days I'm sure Tolstoy's War and Peace would be a lot shorter!

added content: A poster objects about infringement of "other people's intellectual property." What this WSO suggests IS DONE ALL THE TIME. I am a published author (books, magazines etc) and know from the inside of the business what is done. Most writers try to be original. But some do not, and they use techniques similar to what is described in this WSO. In fact, the WSO author quotes copyright law on this very issue.

Yes, it's more satisfying to be original all the time. But sometimes other ways work.

Grabbed it while the price was low... will check it out and return with a review... hopefully I'll find some goodies in it since I'm already a Kindle publisher.

Finished going thru the reports etc... As an experienced Kindle publisher I found nothing earth-shattering or new here... It's a pretty basic well written report on Kindle publishing and newbies will find it helpful... it covers info on how to get ideas etc, where to get content and step by step directions on how to publish to Amazon... also includes Kindle Word templates that will come in handy for many newcomers...

I do disagree with not including TOC's but since the books will be short anyway I can understand why you would not recommend adding them... I also have reservations about the bonus PDF and "plagiarism" from re-writing others work... I think you should have expounded on that more so others will realize what it is you are actually trying to impress on the reader... I think some may misinterpret and go about it the wrong way... some examples would've been helpful here to clarify...

If you're new to Kindle publishing you will probably find this WSO helpful and the low price is appropriate... since I am more experienced and utilize different and what I consider better methods etc I did not find it to be anything new I could incorporate...

Just my humble thoughts... =}

LK,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is made as a step-by-step blueprint for people starting out.

As for the bonus report, I thought I did make it clear to look at core ideas only. It is not infringing on anyone's IP to use ideas because you can't copyright ideas. The copyright laws are even covered in the bonus material. Also the reader won't be doing the writing anyway, it's provided by writers that are familiar with copyright laws so your books are 100% unique and plagiarism free.

But I'm also adding to the bonus with additional methods so anyone that picks it up today (at the reduced price) will be able to see the new and improved report that comes out in a couple of days.

If we have a series that we do in a niche, am I wrong in thinking that the graphics should all be the same to create a 'family' feeling? And are you going to have a template for the .odt in Open Office?

Really appreciate your style. As you and other Kindle WSO creators seem to publish in a 'here's what hot as to SEO' approach, will you update your report for those of us who must stick to our niche no matter what?

It doesn't cost to upload your content to Amazon's Kindle service but if you don't have the content in the right format and register it correctly then it could come back to haunt you

I do have a question. How many words is considered a short Kindle book and a long Kindle book? Can a Kindle book be too short or too long or is it just relative to the price I am charging?

Thanks Scott,

Just what I, as a newbie was looking for, I have a few ideas coming even as I write this But I am with Zajacik does the size matter LOL

As I have a rather long book I would like to do: its OK! I wrote it myself way back in 1992 and its so about to days issues with the economy !...

And I know it will help a lot of people who are struggling to make ends meet.

keep up the good work Scott, to me this is what the WF is about helping
those who need a hand up.

Got it, Scott. Love it already, can't wait to jump in,
just what I was waiting for. The bonuses alone are
worth more than the dimesale price. Sending it to
my list also, I think they will agree with me. Also took
your recommendation (from Amy) on the download page,
that's actually a no-brainer...

Thanks Scott!

Do you have the templates in Open Office format also? Picked this up and see the Word docs. Sometimes the conversion from Word to OO isn't always completely accurate, but may work, not sure and wanted to ask.

Thanks!

Hi Scott, just bought your manual, very nice work put together. Just one question: what might be the expected return on time/efforts invested in creating these short kindle books? I mean, is it really worth of spending X-time/money on this comparing to income we might be getting from this publishing enterprise? How much income have you generated through this so far? If you sell each book for $1, or 99cens, how much money can you really generate say, in one month? Concept looks attractive but we really need to know if it makes sense in monetary plan. Thanks!

Swordmaster,

The good thing about Kindle books is an income stream plan more than a "Pump and Dump" system. You can set-it and forget-it and it pays off for years to come.

What I do is look for the books I've published that sell well and increase their prices from 99-cents to 2.99 (which Amazon gives you a higher commission on).

The idea is that you invest about $5 creating a book (and 20 minutes of your time) and it pays for itself pretty quick, then the rest is pure profit that comes in for years to come.

On Friday night I asked a question about including links in the book (probably a dumb question) because I am not at all fimilar with Kindle books. I made the purchase on Saturday for $5.66 but it is now Sunday night and the price is $5.28????????????????

I am very pleased with the information included. Well worth the money.

I have no idea what is going on as I've been trying to contact Scott privately for a week. Paid for this, but can't get it as my access seems to have been revoked! Will raise a claim with PayPal if not rectified very soon.

Posting this message has been my last resort and something I really did not want to do. But with no contact from various messages to different email addresses (PayPal and the one on the download page) can't think of much else.

Will re-post when this is sorted either way.

With regrets

it's a good wso for beginners who want to learn the step by step process of getting your book onto kindle

However I have one question and I hope Scott takes the time to answer this - I notice other people have asked this and so far I haven't seen an answer.

My question is, and you can answer by pm if you wish Scott, what length of book do you recommend in words?

I know you focus on shorter e-books meaning the cost of outsourcing would be lower but I imagine a short e-book would need some kind of minimum word count or can you flesh it out with graphics etc.?

I guess the key of course is not the length but the quality of the content and if it is short but offers quality content than I suppose that's fine but I guess I need an idea of what kind of costs would be involved in outsourcing a few thousand words of quality content and what do you recommend in terms of word count for a short and concise ebook??

Thanks for your help on this, I appreciate it
