I'm quite intrigued by this WSO and by your assumption that people who are searching to buy cupcakes are going to be searching google images. The only time I've ever heard of people searching google images was to find a specific image for a project, homework, etc. Not on the prospect of then purchasing what they find.

Do you have any hard facts that people search google images with the intention of then buying what they see?

Ranking images on the Images search engine and also the homepage of Google.

Google indexes images on the homepage for your keywords too
