Yes. You have option to turn off the double opt-in.

Yes. Along with their ip if they are previousy entered your list by double opt-in.

You mean shared hosting? Yes. But it totally depends on the hosting package you are on. Example: Some hosting package don't come with cron or script execution limits. Here host controls script execution timing. If a script runs more than n seconds, the server will stop it. So if you have imported many subscribers on this type of hostng, it will be difficult for you to manage.

- Is it hard to install the software?

There is detailed installation guide with mages and flow chart. So if you have installed couple of scripts before, I don't think this will be a problem for you.

No. Right now no drip feeding of content is allowed. Only as digital downloads accesses and membership content access.

Yes. You have to buy licenses before at 50% discount then you can sell them with your own paypal account to your members etc. (Couple of my clients are web designers, so they buy and sell the licenses this way). Then if you email me your member email and name, I will send you the a new account details to you.

Couple of weeks, may be.

Yes. You can add lessons to the autoresponder as messages and configure how many days after you can send each one of them.

Example:
If you save three messages at an interval of 0,2,1 days, the messages will go out like this:

If I subscribe today to your series, I will receive:
1st message - 5th
2nd message - 7th
3rd message - 8th

Yes. You can send a message announcing your pdf lesson. This one time emails are called broadcasts. You can send them with Follow up Autoresponder PRO.

Self-hosted means hosting the script on your web site (no matter who the host is). Yes, you can install it on Hostgator.

Hi GFox,

1. No limit. You can add as many messages as you want.

2. Please note: Script *DON'T* send messages based on day of the week (like monday, wednesday etc), but sends messages based on time interval between messages.

I don't advice Hostgator to get a dedicated. There are many other providers with reasonable rates with good support. And go with VPS rather than dedicated. VPS are fully supported by hosts in terms of upgrading the software than dedi. server.

Mail sending is limited for shared/reseller plans (Cheap Reseller Hosting - Private Label cPanel Reseller Web Hosting Package - ResellerZOOM)
They're ok though if you're not planning to exceed the limits.
If you need unlimited emails you can consider VPS or a dedicated server.

Limits
There is a 500 outgoing email hourly limit per domain. This limit is also applied towards Mailman. If you send over this amount in any hour, most of the e-mails will bounce back with an undeliverable error. If this occurs, it will then take some time for your account to be able to send again so we recommend waiting at least 1 hour after this issue occurs to begin sending email again.

Many of our servers have a limit of 30 POP3/IMAP checks per hour per IP address. If you go over this you're likely to get a wrong password error message or an error stating "login incorrect". If this occurs, please wait an hour and it will automatically unblock you. To prevent this from happening again, please make sure to disable auto checking or at least set it to something higher such as once every 10 minutes.

Any mailing list larger than 5,000 addresses will require a dedicated hosting solution from us. Note: Dividing one large list into smaller lists to get below this limit is not allowed.

There is also a limit to the number of Mailman mailing lists permitted as follows (NOTE: This does not apply to other mailing list programs such as PHPList. This only applies to Mailman.)

* Hatchling package: 20 Mailman mailing lists
* Baby package: 25 Mailman mailing lists
* Business package: 50 Mailman mailing lists
* Reseller and Dedicated packages: Unlimited number of Mailman mailing lists

Mailing Lists Rules
1. Any time you're sending a message no matter how large your e-mail list is you must throttle it. We recommend you throttle it to at the very least sending 1 email every 8 seconds. (Sending 1 every 8 seconds would send 450 emails within 1 hour, keeping you below the 500 outgoing email limit.) If the mailing list software you're using does not allow you to throttle you must switch to an application or script that will. We recommend PHPList, which can be found in your CPanel under Fantastico.

IMPORTANT: If you do not throttle and you try sending 500 emails, the server will try sending all 500 in 1 second which is not possible on our shared servers. This will cause a very high load on the server and the entire server will be sluggish, potentially affecting your sites and service, until this sending process is completed. It is our job to keep the server up and running without being sluggish or experiencing issues. Anyone who causes the server's load to go high will be suspended and the process will be terminated. If you choose not to throttle, you will most likely be suspended for crashing the server.

2. Any mailing list over 900 email addresses is only allowed to be sent to during off-peak times to prevent high server loads. Off peak times qualify as all day Saturday and Sunday, and 1AM - 8AM Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.

3. The list must be a Double Opt-In list. This means a user has subscribed for a newsletter or other email marketing messages by explicitly requesting it and confirming the email address to be their own. Confirmation is usually done by responding to a notification/confirmation email sent to the email address the end user specified. The double opt-in method eliminates the chance of abuse where somebody submits someone else's email address without their knowledge and against their will. You will not be permitted to mail any mailing list that you were given or purchased. In doing so, this will also be considered spamming and may result in termination of the offending account.

4. Any unsolicited e-mail being sent will result in suspension or termination of the offending account. We take a zero tolerance stance against sending of unsolicited e-mail and other forms of spam.

5. Any mailling list MUST comply with all guidelines set forth by the United States government. These can be found at:

6. No direct SMTP mailers are allowed. An example of this would be a Darkmailer or The Bat!. Any mail should be sent through the local mail server/MTA for further delivery by the server and not done directly by scripts.

I'd definitely go with a VPS when I start using my own autoresponder in any volume.

Resellerzoom is not the cheapest VPS in terms of ram-per-dollar. But their $30 month VPS is "managed" which I will want.

I've be hosting (shared/reseller) with them for about 5 years. And I really like the support. There've been problems, and downtime, and script-install issues, but they've always been fast to respond and to remedy.

I just upgraded from a budget-1 plan to a budget-2, and transfered about 7 domains from HostGator to them-- Just because I want each domain to have it's own Cpanel. Can't afford that at HostGator. ResellerZoom also allows "overselling". That means that I can assign each domain the full bandwidth/diskspace of the entire account, even though the total assigned exceeds the total of the account. I like to do that with my own domains. HostGator doesn't allow it. (I don't resell, and don't want to be a host).

Yes. The main advantages of going with VPS are your host manages the software upgrades plus you will have control like dedicated but for lesser price.

Also you can optimize your vps by setting up your SPF records, rDNS etc for improved email deliverability.

Got a question from one of the warriors:

Your script can send email to subscriber inboxes? like Aweber.

Some of my clients are using Follow up Autoresponder PRO on their own VPS with SPF, domain keys with an excellent email deliverability. The problem with email deliverability is not with the script but with the servers. (VPS usually costs from $30.00 and up with full control for you.)

On shared hosting, you can get good deliverability provided your host ip is clean, set up SPF record etc.

Yes. You have option for each autresponder. You can set it to single or double opt-in. But it doesn't vary for individual subscriber though based on his/her age.

I wanted to weigh in on the quality of this Autoresponder (AR) also.

It is an excellent piece of software.
Radhika's customer service is top notch also!

I purchased a week ago last Saturday at about noon and Radhika had the AR installed within about 15 hours!

Best of all it has worked flawlessly ever since.

I had a little trouble with importing my lists (they were a mess)
but again Radhika walked me through it.

If you're at all interested in this you should probably just do it.

It's the best $50.00 I've spent on software, server side or desktop this year. And the year is about over.
