The old-fashioned method of using content from RSS produces ugly contents (from various sources, some with copyright issues) good for the SE bots, but not for real visitors.

The blog postings made by Automatic Blog are great and I would no longer have to worry about copyright laws because i grabs only articles with the author's resource box.

Ok just downloaded cracked open the code to see what makes it tick . Now right off the bat I saw a couple things that MAY need updated in the future . Every so often article base changes there layout which can cause a conflict with the way this functions . I know this because i have another plug-in that pulls from the same place.

My question is you will provide updates when and if this occurrence happens correct?


Now installed and ran on my Blog and came up with this Full analysis . I uploaded it to my wp-content plugins folder . Took Half a tick . Quickly set it up to post on the DIET keyword . Another half a tick . Clicked on update . BAM faster than lightening the lil bugger got my post for me . the code is so simple which is why I think it is so effective.

I checked and see what was going on on the back end . See how much resource the program used . Not much at all . I am very impressed . I would highly recomend it to anyone .

Until this time I was using Cafinated content and honestly I do believe this does a better job.

For techies only when ran here is the resources it used on one of my servers.

.15% cpu 3.45 % memory and took less than a half a tick. So that was a very very very small spike.

I purchased this plugin and installed it on one of my blogs, and here's my review...

What I love about Automatic Blog:

1) The no-follow feature is GREAT. Of course I want to keep the author's bio box in an article, but I hate losing all that link juice so this is an awesome feature.
2) The imported articles are formatted nicely and don't look at all spammy.
3) I really like the fact that I can choose specific keywords that I want to be in the title - this is much easier than making a huge list of negative keywords (something you don't want always slips through when you do it that way).
4) VERY easy to install and set up.

What I'm not so crazy about:

1) Random Time Posting.

In theory this is great, but I'm confused about how this will work. The default is "Post after every X hours. X is between 12 and 24 hours." Is that supposed to be military time (between 12:00hrs and 24:00hrs), or is that 12 to 24 hrs since the last post? I don't know, and maybe you can explain this to me, Nikola. For testing I set it up for 4 articles per day, and the first 2 articles were posted almost immediately, within 3 minutes of each other. I'm not sure if/when the other 2 articles will show up today. Since I set this up in the late evening, will it just start fresh tomorrow and post 4 articles a day going forward? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

2) You can only post up to 10 articles per day, and there's no way to back date the posts automatically.

I'm probably a little spoiled by Caffeinated Content here, because it gives you the option of pulling at least 50 articles from a date range in the past and immediately fleshing out a new blog to make it look more established. But I realize this won't matter to a lot of marketers, and CC has a current price tag of $77 so you pay for added features like that.

3) You can only choose one category from which to pull articles.

This is something else that won't be important to some marketers, but I can see where this might come in handy. Let's say you have some kind of health blog - you might want to pull in articles from different Sports & Fitness sub-categories like aerobics and weight loss, and maybe also something from the Health category like Supplements. You wouldn't be able to do that with this plugin, you have to choose either ONE main category and everything under it, or else ONE sub-category.

My Wish List for the next upgrade:

1) An option to automatically add the More tag at the end of the first paragraph, to avoid some of the duplicate content WordPress is famous for. Maybe this would be a coding nightmare, but since you were able to add the no-follow attribute now I think you can do anything.
2) A way to automatically add tags. WP 2.7 has a great bulk edit feature that makes this task not so onerous, but the ability to add some default tags would be great since I don't have time to check each of my blogs every day.

I know I may not sound wildly enthusiastic about Automatic Blog, but for the $27 I paid for it I'm really very, very happy with my purchase and I'll definitely be adding it to more of my blogs. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it works very elegantly and the no-follow feature is a HUGE plus for me. If you've previously used a plugin like Caffeinated Content or the one from Unique Article Wizard, just be aware that the scope of what Automatic Blog can do is somewhat limited compared to those (neither one of those plugins is perfect either though). Overall I highly recommend this if you want a dead simple way to automatically add targeted content to your blog.

Yes Dee but in my experience CC is even buggy as all get up as it tends to hang alot . This did not hang at all and I posted like mad just to see what kinda of damage it can do to a server . I.E. I really put it to the test.

So in my humble opinion I feel as if this is a nice improvement . Kinda makes me wish I would not have spent that 77.00 on CC now even though I have made that time and time again .

As far as the famous dupe content penalty is concerned are you for real ? I have blogs that take all there information from article base and some that gets all its info from youtube . In both cases I have blogs that far outrank the original content in the serps. I would far much rather have a nice reading blog than to have some mumbled mess that is not even readable.

I use several various 'auto posting' tools... including Caffiennated Content and RSS2blog and many things in between. But I would LOVE LOVE LOVE just a simple, reliable, plugin that would be capable of posting the most recent topic-related article content randomly and in a readable format that compliments my blogs.

For your plugin, Nikolaaa, I would LOVE to hear that the random posting times could be from 1 hour to 1000 hours. In other words... Not just confined to within an every '24 hour' period. Is this the case, or not?

I like Nikola's Automatic blogging plugin a lot. All that any blog requires is a genuine tool which pulls a relevant post which end of the day attracts organic traffic and that's what this plugin does.

Yes you can set 1 and 1000 and it will choose some random time between these two numbers. e.g. 158 hours and 17 minutes.
So, plugin will post next post after 158 hours and 17 minutes.

If you don't want to post each day, you can set 48 and 96, so it is between 2 and 4 days...

Apples & oranges, Mr. Rez. From a programming point of view I'm sure you're right. But my review was of the plugin's features, not how solidly it's coded. I'm not a programmer so I'm not qualified to comment on that. However I agree that CC is definitely buggy and that so far Automatic Blog seems very stable, which would be yet another big plus in its favor.

Who said anything about a dupe content penalty? I have blogs with thousands and thousands of pages of nothing but duplicate content that are ranking very well. I think you need to read my post more carefully.

The only time duplicate content may be penalized is when it's on the same site. WordPress duplicates post content on its tag pages, category pages, and author archives, and if you have your blog's home page set up to show the most recent posts then that's yet one more place where the post is duplicated (albeit temporarily if you're adding new posts often). You can limit SE bots from spidering duplicate content everywhere else via the robots.txt file, but if you want to limit the appearance of duplicate content on your home page then you need to use the More tag inside your posts (this is automatically incorporated into some themes, but not all). I think Nikola understood exactly what I meant, and I hope this explanation better clarifies my previous comment for you and any other readers.

I still say that overall Automatic Blog is great; I was simply making a request that I thought would offer an added SEO benefit to users, in addition to Nikola's incorporation of the no-follow tag.

No.
With that settings it will post 10 articles at once each time (time is between 1 and 2 hrs).

If you want to post 1 article each 1-2 hours then choose 1 in first option.

and functions. One added feature would make it perfect for me. The
ability to add the code from plugins such as phpbay and bayrss so
that eBay and Amazon ads are automatically added to each post.

I added this suggestion at your forum but thought I might add it here
also as someone may have figured out how to do this with your plugin
as it is now configured.

Hate to ask for more because this is a very fine plugin especially at the

Unfortunately, I purchased the plugin for full price $47 from an affiliate email:the day before I got the Warrior Special Offer notice. I set it up easily, it works as stated. I think my problems are more with the articles than the plugin but I was not happy with the following:

There is no publish to draft function to preview/hold articles. This might not be a big deal if you are setting up a feeder or satellite site.

No way I could see to tag automatically.

My main site is of high standard ,the first 2 articles pulled were by the same author and used British grammar and spelling. There were interior links in addition to the resource box and article site link, so in one article there were 4 outgoing links. I had to delete the articles because of quality issues. I was annoyed and going to ask for a refund. But then I rethought things, maybe it was just bad luck pulling 2 trash articles in a row. It was not the plugins fault.

All articles are pulled from 1 article directory, ArticlesBase. If they don't continue to allow this, the plugin is shot. In the strongest possible terms I suggest you look at the articles at Articlebase it will pull from. In my niche, ghostwritten articles stand out like a sore thumb. Now obviously, this is not the fault of the product, but do your due diligence for your niche at ArticlesBase and make sure they have a good selection to pull from.

I am just going to give up on the idea of fattening up my authority site with this and will use it to create feeder sites for which it will do a good job. I wish I had seen this thread before I bought so I could investigate. I turned off the plugin. I will try again and hope for the best at a later date.

Right after purchase I found a plugin for $4.95 that performs the same function but pulls from ArticleDashboard. I will use both these products in tandem along with a RSS publisher for feeder/satelite sites.

Sorry I still don't get the 12-24 hour posting thing. If I set the number of articles to 3 a day and I want the articles to be posted on 5 hours difference for each (1st article now, 2nd article 5 hours later, and 3rd article 5 hours after the 2nd ), how do I do the setting?

You are limited to last 10 articles in one category.

This plugin works brilliant. At first I had a few small problems (which had to do with my host and and an old version of wordpress) which were quickly sorted by nikola. It was also very simple to install and set up.

Out of curiosity should the "Article source" link which is located at the bottom of the post, be left to give the author credit, or removed.

If you are looking for another article directory to use with your plugin, you can try the article directory in my sig.
