Here's a question for you, when trying to rank for certain keywords, we use the keyword in the post title and within the post and do all the other on page seo stuff. So if the keyword is geo targeted, eg. "plumbers in [city, country]", how does google see that? Will it potentially rank for all or many of the geo targeted keywords (if competition is not too high), or will it rank for none of them because google won't recognize the keywords because it sees the shortcode rather than the actual keyword?

Really need to know the answer to this.

If you use geo location tags in your titles - you NEED to use something like the "All in one SEO" plugin or similar to make a Google facing title (this is all explained in the tutorial videos)

In short: the Covert Geo Targeter plugin is a conversion tool - not a ranking tool.

Not at this stage Daniel, but who knows You get lifetime upgrades, so if we add it later, you will be one of the first to get access.

What you can do - is to target a country though... say... the USin a widget ad then insert people's city shortcode in to your widget or ad block - so it will work to show the city but only to US residents. Then you can show a different ad to people who are not based in the US.

I sent this out to my list because it is a killer plugin. I use GEO Targeting all the time. But this will definitely make it quicker!

Think of the way you can put products up based on demographics!

Something like this is only as good as the quality of the information in the Geo IP database.

While it may be very accurate in the US, I'm having a different experience in Europe.

I've tested it from three IP addresses in the UK, and one in France.

In all cases it got the country right - but that's the only good news.

From the IP address in France it gives no more information than the country.
It does the same thing for one of my UK IP addresses.
For the other two UK IP addresses it says I'm in the south east of England, when I'm actually in the north west.


If the rest of the database for Europe is as poor as that it's useless to me - in fact it might put people off buying if the plugin makes them think my site is for people from a different area.

So it's useless for me and I'll be requesting a refund.
