Does this violate any YouTube terms of service?

I have not been able to find any direct information that not displaying the logo is a violation of their TOS. YouTube allows to modify their controls and they even have an API for that:

The Terms state that:

The following commercial uses are permitted ... the placement of Your own branding on the API Client, provided that it does not interfere with YouTube audiovisual content playback or with any YouTube branding;

I'm not sure if we interfere enough to violate their TOS. We do display overlays (like logo, splash screen, onclick redirect, custom controls) - but all this is done via YouTube API, which would not be possible without their implied permission. In other words, if they did not want 3d parties to do that, they would restrict their API.

I am still concerned. How can I stay safe with YouTube?

Do not intentionally hide YouTube logo ("Controls" set to "iFrame"), and the logo will briefly appear in the beginning of all the videos. Albeit the original idea of the plugin was to allow maximum rebranding possibilities, we plan to add options to allow maximum visibility of YouTube branding.

I want to be able to post YouTube videos on my clients' sites using your player. Do I need a Developer License for that?

Absolutely not! You will have the plugin installed on your site and use it as a intermediary hub between your clients' sites and YouTube. What would be the point of this? Well, the videos will look as if they were hosted on your site, whilst in reality they are hosted by YouTube.

Could you please compare your player with "Custom Video Player" WSO of the day by Mathew McDonald? Both offer ability to crop out YouTube logo, but his sales page seems to list more additional features than yours.

Yes, I'm familiar with Mathew's WSO, he created a great product! However, I would not publish my player if it has not had some strengths:

1. First of all, it is HTML5 based and does not require Adobe Flash.
2. It supports lightbox effect (when video is opened in a javascript window).
3. It's a Wordpress plugin, which means it installs with just a few clicks and has some wordpress-specific features.

Yes, in terms of stats YouTube does not distinguish between "genuine" player and Atatari YouTube Player.

The pink is only in the video (it's kind of a corporate branding) and in the splash screen, which you can replace with yours or totally remove :-)

Hello! Yes, you can use the iFrame code generated by the player and embed videos on non-wordpress websites. But to do that, you need to have the plugin installed on a wordpress website first.
