A MAN has escaped a jail sentence after he attempted to extort $5,000 from a Brisbane brothel using a post office box registered in his own name.

Benjamin Trevor Grenier pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court today to four counts of extortion.
The Brisbane man also pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm for king-hitting a man in September 2002, in a car park at Windaroo, south of Brisbane.

In October of 2003, the 23-year-old wrote four letters to a sole operating sex workers' business in Brisbane claiming unless they gave him $5,000 he would dob them in to authorities - even though they were not an illegal business.

Prosecutor Megan Caffery told the court Grenier asked for the $5,000 to be sent to his post office box, which was "naively" registered under his name.

"This was not a very sophisticated bid," she noted.

It's not the first time Grenier has made false representations to a company.

On February 7, 2003, Judge Julie Dick, SC, sentenced him to a 12-month wholly suspend sentence with an operational period of three years over a bomb hoax to a childcare centre.

Grenier's legal representative Steve Zillman told the court his client had suffered from a mental condition at the time of the offences, "but had turned his life around".

Judge Dick said she was would give Grenier one more chance and sentenced him to a 12-month intensive correction order over the assault and extended his suspended sentence operational period for one year in relation to the extortion attempt.

A quite reasonable response bearing in mind the experience of those of us who have been suckered by this ar*e hole (I got done for only 5 KWs so I reckon I got off lightly). However, I don't think we should be tarnishing similar services with the same brush just because of this one bad apple.

I have looked at the links supplied by pauljg1 and I have to say that I am quite impressed with their offer and the number and quantity of testimonials provided. Perhaps that is what we should have looked for before we gave this tosser our money...............................

Unfortunately that's Paypal. I remember reading somewhere that PayPal states that if you use PayPal to buy services that your not protected by their buyer protection program. It's only reserved for physical goods. I have to double check on that tho. What I think people dont know, or maybe they do is that PayPal is NOT A BANK! So they do not have to follow any banking regulations. So that's why dealing with them when it comes to refunds, etc. is like trying to blast off into space in your car. It's sad, but only REAL BANKS you have some hope in getting a refund or getting things investigated better.

Im just cracking i fell for this BS offer.

In this game when things seem to good to be true

they usually are, i paid through Paymate put in my complaint

earlier but i won't be holding my breath, this guy obviously has all

his bases well covered.

I will let you guys know what there response was once i receive it.

I've lost a few hundred dollars myself on different services, but I think of it as an investment. The thing with Matt's service is that you should only send them keywords that you know will benefit your site, since they try to rank you for all 5 keywords you specify. If you include a low competition keyword with minimal traffic, that's probably what you'll get ranked for as it's the easiest. All of my campaigns with them contain 4 extremely difficult keywords and 1 moderately difficult keyword.

You can determine the difficulty and commerciality of a keyword with keyword research software or by calculating it manually with the google keyword tool.

Unlike Ben, Matt is established and stands to lose a lot if he doesn't keep his word.
