@girljocks: Vanilla Forum is definitely the easiest to use. The other forum scripts are good and comes with many features out of the box, but if you want to modify the code its a mess, even the add-ons have multiple hurdles that you have to go through. This is not the case with Vanilla Forum, ciao.

Looks great but I've got one big concern. I'd previously looked at Vanilla Forums to build an on-line community. I was put off by the high monthly fees they charge that start at 49 dollars per month and then more for bigger communities. In the sales blurb above you say that we can download the application for free and then use it as much as we want... Is this completely above board? Can you explain how legal this is? I'd certainly like reassurance that I'm not going to set something up, spend the time nurturing it and then find out I'm on the end of a law suit for software piracy/unapproved use etc.

Hi Jay, there is only a fee if you decide to host your forum with them. If you have your own domain name and webhost then you can upload as many instances of Vanilla Forum that you wish. Cheers.

I checked out VF.org and it seems like you need to be pretty darn good at troubleshooting DB's and hosting/installs so my question is, how in-depth do you go with these vids?

Are they just, " here's where you download it, how you install it (extract/upload), here's a couple of other cool things" but if you get stuck, you'll have to go to the VF and seek advice?

Or do you go deep into getting this up-and-running with troubleshooting tips?

I show you fresh from scratch how to install the application so its pretty in depth. Also, you shouldn't run into many issues if you have a quality web host that stays up to date with the latest technology and trends. Cheers.
