John, It seems small business have been hammered by offline telemarketing consultants, and it's hard to get them to listen to how we can help them. Will your product help with that? I'm even starting my call with a soft line like, "I'm following up from an email I sent last week regarding your website..." ...and many of them are still not interested, and want to get off the phone quickly, giving me no chance to let them know the benefit. As far as secretaries I went above and beyond NOT to focus on them and when you read the report you will see why. Pitching is like laying a stone upon a stone...getting from one level in your pitch to the next is like building a legal case... Secretaries are either going to let you in or not, this comes from a champion telemarketer who has greeted thousands of them in every way possible... The most important rebuttals are the ones in the middle section and ends of your pitch. I dont focus overly heavy on rebuttals either for the purpose that most do. Rebuttals to me dont make or break a deal generally (except for the credit card rebuttals at the close) . What truly makes or breaks a deal is whether or not you are really selling the person along the way, and laying stone upon stone. For me a rebuttal is something you use to guide a slightly misguided prospect back into the pitch, thats all... its something you do to address a concern, and guide straight back to your pitch (look Im still writing my book Yall. lol). The true value of a pitch is whether or not it builds that case or not, stone upon stone. Im open when pitching for a person to let go at any point in the pitch. If they are interested at the end of my greeting, then they will probably listen to the body, and if they are still interested by the end of the body, then they will probably make it through the questions, and if they are open to the questions, then you may be able to close them. At any point or interval if they drop out, I dont care and I dont fight to get them back in, however if I see a window of opportunity that this person may still have some interest I may drop a slight rebuttal to get them back in the game. Rebuttalsare the l;east important to me, whats important is whether or not a person is BUYING you from level to level in your pitch. The first thing you have to do is master the area of your pitch where rebuttals matter the least- The greeting. Why do they matter least in the greeting? Because neither party is really invested in the pitch yet...now if someone makes it 70% of the way through my pitch and they balk for a sec, then I might throw a rebuttal because there is enough interest invested to be worth protecting. Greetings and getting through secretaries, in my experience is less about what you say, and more about your tone and how it "feels" to the person on the other end. I have seen heard and tried a million secretary rebuttals in thousands of calls, and really one is not much better than the other, when it comes to greetings they are a shot in the dark. The only rebuttal that consistently works for any percentage of the time that is predictable would be when a person says "I dont have time for this". In that case you have a 50% chance of getting a different answer if you only ask "twice", its surprising how much of the time they will say "sure go ahead" if you say "Well Bob this will only take a minute, have you got THAT much time...?" A larger than expected percentage of the time asking again on that question will get you a yes. I know some will say that you need masterful secretary rebuttals but greeting rebuttals are really the ones that have the least worth and are least effective... less worth because no one is invested, and least effective because when a person comes out of the gate with suspicion it rarely turns around. Thats from CHAMPION experience. Forget being a manager or a call center developer....As a TELEMARKETER, I was number one for like 10 months at a time twice, in rooms with 60 to 100 people. I was virtually unbeatable until I just got tired of winning... So you can take my advice that, sure, try to butt heads with secretaries all day, you will be wasting the best part of your energy. What you want to do is find people who want to talk to you. Many times the staff is just a mirror reflection of the boss. Secretaries are more overcome by "tone", and some respond to nice tones, others respond to authoritative tones, and the best thing to do is just be YOU and you will get through to the ones who respond to THAT- Chances are their boss will have a similar disposition toward your vibe... One could take this advice or leave it, but its the strategy that has made me unbeatable on the phone and also on the "floor" for 15-20 years now... Hope it helps take that stress off you about getting through secretaries, because you need to be like the horse with the lightest Jockey... Travel light, dont carry too much , be lean, mean and efficient. Spare your energy for the guys that really want to talk to you, and then unload it ALL on them. -JD Ps. I do know alot of rebuttal technique as well and have been through those phases too, where it was like "conveert EVERYONE", and I was in the mood to teach that the day I wrote the telemarketing Kung fu report which is also included here as a bonus...it has the OPPOSITE of that easy going vibe and is ALL about rebuttals. | |

| The SEO pitch is the longest. I am particularly proud of the SEO pitch because normally thats going to be more of a consulting type of thing that could virtually go anywhere, so it was a challenge trying to fit everything I know about consulting into a "verbatim style" pitch. However if one gets the understanding of how they work laying block upon block and building a case with a prospect, then they will have fun and be challenged getting through the SEO pitch and have a great reward at the end. I think it was pretty cool to attempt to get a whole consultation into a pitch, and I indulged myself a little on that one, I think its pretty powerful and will help alot of people who dont know how to take control of that kind of a conversation, on a topic that covers such a wide range. In short, I think it will sell some SEO! |

"Use to be" well I do believe that term is relative. Example michael jordon remaind the top and best for years after retiring because of his stats, as well as tiger woods when he stopped for a bit. Sooo until you can show me someones stats that top yours I will have to stand by my statement. Stick that in you pipe and smoke it.

Hi John, With your scripts, can I do a voice over them then use my auto dialing to pitch businesses, hopefully convert them into a qualifed leads before meeting them or talk to them? John, I haven't had a chance to read the whole enchilada yet, but I'm printing it out right now (because I'm hitting the road for the day). While it was printing, I got a chance to read through the first part. You have a really smart way for someone new to offline marketing to get darn near instant credibility. But even better, you have a really cool way of getting some HIGH END credibility for an established company!! I would say it verges on brilliance, but I don't want to give you a big head. ;-) I love it. I'm looking forward to the rest of the this, because if the info is as good as just these small pieces, then it is going to be great! Now, everyone values things differently. Wow. Very impressive. I've read the two "bonus reports" and 60% of the main course so far, and amazing all the "not so little things" I've picked up (and taken notes). I'm actually NOT doing much cold calls as a first approach anymore, but I talk to prospects still, prewarmed maybe, but certainly not closed. And IMO this WSO is ALL about CLOSING, getting our closing skills up, and setting up the presentation and rebuttals to get better closing ratio without even thinking about it. Tie downs during presentations, preclosing all the time along the way, etc. Very well explained, and certainly things that can be taught/given to your team, though probably not to newbies or dust gatherer, but to your go getters. This will make me - and anyone who picks this up and learn it - money, no doubt. I know John has really brought back telemarketing and cold calling to glory, and it certainly is a proven way to make sales, but there has been very good WSOs and tips on the WF to get leads without cold calling per se. But guess what, these leads still have to be closed! We still have to talk to people and sell. And closing can be learned. I use to suck at it years ago but I'm much better. A great post/thread by David Miller a few months back on closing really inspired me to become a master closer. Read it and then buy this WSO! I haven't seen a thread about closing in a long time |
