For non-Wordpress sites this would have to be coded and added manually. I haven't seen any solid solution for normal sites.

Quick question - what happens to the original theme that the Wordpress sites are using ?? Will this plugin display the wp sites using the same theme, or does it strip everything and revert to the default wp theme ?

This plugin only adds the pop-up and home screen features. Everything else remains the same including your theme, and mobile theme which gives you full control over your site for both regular and mobile visitors.

An mobile APP has to be first approved by the Apple App Store and then installed onto the mobile device via download THROUGH the Apple App Store. That's not so easy like it is shown in your thread. And it'd definitvely no APP.

It has APP-like features which makes it very interesting - but it is no APP, as far as I see it ...

Can you clarify this for me?

Sounds very cool - but please be a little more specific: By "in the future", do you mean in the next few weeks or months ... or?

One of my clients is talking about doing an app and wants to make sure it would work for Droids, as well as I-devices, since he's aware that more Droids are shipping now than iPhones.

This is a 'web app' that runs through Apple's web kit. It is not a standalone app that can be submitted to the app store.

My demo is not working. It scans, I then open in Safari, install to Home Screen. When I go to open the app it opens regular website, not the app.

Yes this will take whatever mobile site you have already set up and turn it into an installable web app. Everything remains the same with your site.

thanks for clarification, just bought it. I only needed the clarification for addressing this to my clients. Sometimes they are confused between "APP" and "mobile Site". Now I can tell them that this is an APP-like mobile Site which combines both.

That's cool!

Yes it will take any mobile site you build and ad the pop-up to it when a user is browsing with an iPhone. It will also set the Icon, the start screen, and allow you to control the behavior of the web kit that displays your content including touch-to-call, status bar, and external link behavior.

This was designed to take existing WordPress sites and give them the functionality of a web app. For clients that already have a mobile site this is huge, as it would be more labor intensive to take their WordPress site and try to build it with one of those services.

And I guess the client have to give me the access to install this plugin on their site...right? How does other people download this"Web app" on their phone if its not in the Apple store?

Quick question

I've download and installed the plugin - super easy and quick to install. I've got it working on my mobile website - but my problem is is that the message that drops down saying to "Add to homepage" is appearing on all of the pages - even though I have already added it to my home page.

Is there a specific setting for this so that it displays once when a visitor first views the mobile site and then NOT again once they have added it to the homepage. It would be pretty annoying for users to keep seeing this little message again and again especially if they HAVE added it.

This will have no effect on visitors who are not using an iPhone. The pop-up only displays when an iOS device is detected.

The client will have to give you admin access to their WordPress site inorder to install the plugin.

To install on an iOS device, the user simply needs to visit the site normally and follow the pop-up's instructions. It does not need to be listed in the app store.

Yes in the options there is a 'test mode' that makes the pop-up display every time. When this is disabled it will not show for users who have the app installed. I put it on by default to help with set up.

• How quick do you think you'll offer the Android option for this plugin? (time frame?)
• I'd like to offer realtors a 'tap 2 call' landing page only. Very briefly, how would I do that with your plugin? I already have the html/js/css ready to go.
• I'll be charging a flat rate for the 'tap 2 call' option, but I'll charge monthly if they want something more enhanced. If I can use the same WP install for both, I'll use this exclusively. Is that possible?

i'm a little confused about some things (could be my app ignorance):

• how do you bypass app store approval?
• does this violate Apple's TOS?
  in terms of installing non-approved software on their hardware
  (they are pretty anal about such things)
• does this allow push notifications from site-owner?
  or if not, will it one day...

There seems to be a big demand for android support so it is at the top of my list and will be integrated by the end of the month the latest. I will try to get it into the update scheduled for Monday.

All you would need to do for a tap-to-call landing page is creat the page on wordpress and install the app!

I'm not sure I follow your last question, you can modify the landing pages however you like and simply disable the touch-to-call feature of my plugin to let your code handle it.

This will load your site in Apple's web kit and requires an internet connection to load. If offline access is a feature that you would like to see, I can add it to the plugin in a future update.

This does not violate any TOS. This is a web app which does not require any approval from Apple. The only draw back is it cannot be listed on Apple's App store.

Push notifications are not currently possible by this form of web app, however there are standards in the works that will make it possible. When these standards are finalized I will add it to the plugin, and all updates are free.

There are a number of mobile themes out there: 10 Attractive Mobile WordPress Themes | WordPress Widgets, Tutorials, Guides, SEO by WPWidgets.net

Any one can be used with this plugin, I have tested it on all the major themes. If there are any issues, just submit a support ticket and we can get it taken care of.

I also have a mobile site builder in the works based on jquery mobile that will work with WordPress.

As to the other question (App Store?): This one client I have wants me to create an app and put it on the app store because he wants the exposure to 100s of 1,000s of people who would hopefully download his app. But you say the 'web app' that your software-tool creates is stand-alone and can't be put on the app store. That seems to be a major problem .. at least for (prospective) clients who want the same thing, which I believe is a major benefit to having a mobile app, in the eyes of many of them.

Without the ability to put it on the app store, then he's constrained to emailing his current clients and telling them that this is available - but he can not 'reach out to' all those that would otherwise come across it on the app store.

Please address that for me - since I don't have much knowledge about or experience with this kind of thing.

The plugin creates what is called a 'web app' both Apple and Google have full support for this.

The app itself is capable of anything you want you WordPress site to do from a simple mobile site all the way up to an HTML 5 based game.


Push notifications are NOT currently supported for web apps, however it is in the works and when it is finalized, I will integrate it into the plugin.
