I have some similar links with same anchor text within content of different pages and posts.
Will the plugin be able to differentiate between similar looking links on different pages and posts and score them accordingly?

Hi M,

Yes it can as it works by the page/post being shown e.g.

a sidebar has the same links across an entire WP site but Clicktracker only reports the CTR of the total page (including the sidebar) on which the click took place.

If its from Terry it's bound to be top notch. Looks an incredible tool, 99% of IMers don't concentrate on maximising the traffic they get but this tool takes all the heavy lifting out of squeezing the last dollar from your existing traffic.

Terry Kyle, you rock, sir - I was reading this WSO and had a few thoughts:

1) Doesn't Eclipse Link Cloaker or other aff cloaking plugins do this already - track clicks? But then I realized: no they don't - they only record the # of clicks, not CTR, which is different.

2) Doesn't using the Website Optimizer from Google do this for free? No, it doesn't, it only works on your own opt-in forms and in-house pages...

I have no idea how your plugin calculates CTR or why nobody else has come out with this, but I'm drooling. Awesome tool, Terry! (Full disclosure: Terry did NOT give me a review copy nor am I an affiliate - I'm just literally drooling over this plugin.)

At the moment no Perig because of issues with the licensing system we are using now but we are developing our own platform at the moment which will address that issue.

So I successfully activated the plugin on sites hosted at HostGator but I am getting an error for sites at JustHost:

Site error: the file /home3/xxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/WP_Click_Tracker/core.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the website operator. If you are the website operator please use the ionCube Loader Wizard to assist with installation.

When you promote a thread on your forum.. that shows a study of "negative" seo that destroys innocent people's website..i think that is not right.

In the thread on your seo forum, some guy was bragging how he destroyed some innocent guys site with "negative " seo. This guy who's sitewas destroyed could have a family with children..and this guy doing the "negative seo" could destroy this innocent guys business that he uses to feed his kids....and the fact you would promote this on your forum..is not right.

I was a member of your forum and justly expressed my disgust at the person who started the thread bragging about how he destroyed some innocent guys business and livelihood. In response, you BANNED me from your site. Instead of banning this guy that destroys people's businesses, you banned me! Though your post is off-topic in this thread, let's examine the issues:

Issue 1: Negative SEO is a very real and horrible side of SEO that I actively DISCOURAGE at every opportunity - obviously you haven't read my postings on the issue.

Pretending that Negative SEO doesn't exist leaves Internet Marketers and Web entrepreneurs vulnerable to attack so they need to be aware of it and possible means to counter it.

Such was/is the importance of that discussion that people like Dan Thies and Rand Fishkin felt compelled to participate.

Banning and removing that thread on Traffic Planet would have served nobody despite my personal hostility to NSEO.

Issue 2: According to the senior Mod Richard (who banned you), you weren't banned for expressing a contrary view to the OP but rather for personally abusive attacks and that isn't acceptable behaviour on many forums including WF and Traffic Planet.

Do we need to enter affiliate ids and info or does the plug in just pick up all the existing affiliate links and info? Especially for big sites we have, this is important.

Hi Z,

No you don't need to enter any special link info - just install it and it will start recording CTR on all links on the blog.

If you have a dynamic API feed (e.g. price comparison), that won't work but normal links on posts/pages and sidebars/navbars are all monitored for Impressions and CTR.

Just to clarify 'start recording CTR on all links on the blog' as you said on the previous post, so also records for internal links as well on each post and page? Therefore also any cloaked links, such as affiliate links cloaked by Pretty Links?


Also, if you have two identical affiliate links on one page (i.e. one at the bottom of the page and one at the top) then I guess you identify the links using different alt texts, which it looks like is then displayed in the WP Click Tracker to then work out which link is which?

Yes, clicks on internal links are recorded too so you can see which navbar-type links aren't of interest.

In testing, cloaked aff links worked fine (recording-wise) though I don't think we specifically tested with Pretty Links. If there is a conflict, we'll correct it or refund if unable to.

Yes you should run different Anchors on those not only for general split testing but also for differentiation for the plugin to detect.

Perhaps, you've tested by installing the plugin on an existing blog with 500+ post/pages?

I've seen a few click tracking plugins that slowed down page-load considerably.

Just asking for info.

Hi Jan,

We've tried to make it as undemanding on resources as possible and haven't seen any adverse impact on load times.

However, we have now just added a pagination feature to tracking results whereas originally they come up on one page.

All past and current buyers will get that paginated upgrade for free of course.

Subject to testing, that may even be available tonight.

Hi Light Taurus, yeah it tracks all links on all pages, apart from as Terry says doesnt track dynamic API feed (e.g. price comparison). I think this plugin was mainly designed for tracking affiliate links so you can see which links convert and which links dont.

Terry, I wasn't clear. I'm asking what effect it has on the performance of the WP database creating pages.

A visitor clicks a link, this plugin comes into play to record the click data. At that point we have some performance weight.

Plugins are always a factor to consider with page-load times. Some are horrendously expensive in that regard. Don't expect that to be the case, but would like to hear what can tell me

If you wish, I can add a video to this thread demonstrating page load speed times with the plugin running (sites hosted on HG USA, for example) during clicking/loading.

Excellent idea... would like to see that and especially if you wouldn't mind listing all other plugins you have active on the installation you do the screencam video.

That's the only way to be fair judgement.
Wordpress is a great CMS but the page-load time around the globe is becoming a real issue.

A thought for... include your pagination feature in the vid and it would help your sales here.
