Selling on eBay Adds Money into Your Bank Account

Everyone now days is looking for ways to make extra money. Even part time jobs are scarce. That's why I like selling, what's called, collectible on eBay. You see, 'collectibles' can be just about anything that's 15 years old or older. They're pretty easy to find, you probably have some laying around your house. And don't forget the old saying, "One man's junk is another man's treasure!"

There are many reasons why selling collectibles on Ebay is a great way to make some extra cash. That's the first reason...you can make money! I make anywhere between $200 to $600 every month, sometimes more, but never less. And most of the things I sell I've either found, have stashed away in my home, or bought for under $1 at a garage sale. $200-$600 extra every month for cleaning out your stuff isn't bad.

There are other reasons I like to sell collectibles on Ebay, too. One is that the buyers are nice, so you almost always have an easy transaction with no funny business, complaints, long delays in payment. And you get some really great feedback comments, which help in your credibility with future buyers.

So, how do you get started selling on Ebay? There are plenty of guides, including one on the Ebay site itself. But in a nutshell, if you have not already signed up at Ebay, that's the first thing you need to do. It's free, easy and secure. Just give them your information, select a user name and password, and you're good to go. Next, get a Paypal.com account. Because Ebay owns Paypal, they like you to have an account and use Paypal for payment on your auctions. But, more importantly, buyers like Paypal. It's convenient, and you'll usually get payment within 48 hours of your auction closing. Paypal takes a small fee, but, for me, it's well worth it not to have to deal with waiting for payments to be mailed, clearing of checks and going to the bank to deposit the checks. With Paypal, you can simply transfer the payments directly into your bank account for free.

Once you have found an item you want to sell on Ebay, do some research first, to see if there is too much competition, no interest or it may be a hot, hot item. By doing a search in the active listings, then the completed items in the last 30 days(you'll find the link on the left), you'll get an idea of what your item might sell for and what starting price you should choose. Remember, these are only items that sold in the last 30 days, so it doesn't mean if you don't find your item or something similar to your item it isn't going to sell. It could mean that your item is rare and hard to find!

That's why I like to also do a Google search on an item, too. This also helps you when it comes time for you to write your description. The more precise information, identification of the maker or manufacturer and any history you might have (whether you've owned it since childhood, as an example) will help you get the best and highest bids possible. And, most importantly, a good picture that shows whatever detail you can. Your buyer is only going to be able to judge and decide if he's going to bid by what he can see in your picture and read in your description.

These tips should get you started selling your collectibles on Ebay. To make $200-$600 a month, I generally have six to eleven auctions going at any time. To get your feet wet, start with one or two, then start adding more. Once you've hit on a particular item, or niche, within the collectible market that seems to be popular and makes you consistent money, start searching Ebay and other auction sites for those items in that niche. Most time, power sellers and lazy sellers haven't done their research and don't know what they have. Or the item is listed with misspelled words. Get creative and you'll find an abundance of opportunities!
