Question on the Consumer CD with emails. If we start marketing to those email addresses doesn't that constitute spam? I realize that wont stop some but I'd rather not get into that.
How are others using that info and not worrying about the spam issue?

Hi Tekstar,

I will PM you with a video you can watch because I was not sure if I was allowed to post it here but it explains this issue in great detail.

The short answer is that commercial emailing is totally legal if you follow a few very simple rules that are outlined in the Can-Spam act.

BUT
Have you ever done anything in real life that was legal yet really pissed someone off? Of course. Driving a hummer right now is legal but rest assured you will get many dirty looks from certain special interest groups.

Actually today I went to the grocery store and did not bring my own bags. I was promptly swarmed by a group of tree huggers and beaten to within an inch of my life....(not that there's anything wrong with that)

SO

Just because something is legal does not mean that there will not be a bunch of people trying to cause you grief

SO

I would absolutely take steps to protect myself and there are many sites out there and services out there that will totally protect your ASS-ets and give you the advice you need

I HAVE

been marketing using commercial email for years as have many of my clients. I think the key is if you have a good offer and a reasonable expectation that the receiver will actually be interested and you are NOT deceitful in your copy, then not too many will worry about it or get peaved.

It's when people get 37 messages in one day offering them viagra AND they have already TOTALLY stocked up on Viagra in case the lights go out that they get peaved :-)
