I am wondering if GoArticles is currently the best place to link to. I've been trying to rank with an article for about 3 weeks now, and have still not made it beyond page 3 for a phrase with well under 500,000 competition. What's more is that when I search, I don't see any other GoArticles ranked ahead of me, but I do see Ezinearticles and a couple of other directories. I know this has been asked before, but is it possible that Google for whatever reason is not ranking this site highly anymore?

Well, I have several Goarticles that I've gotten to Page One of Google in the recent past and they are still there. But that is something I should probably try again soon and see if it's still as responsive to backlinks. I will be doing a test soon and let you know what I've found out. :-)

I've read several people requesting examples of results. Thought I'd post my test.

On about June 6th:
I picked 5 clickbank products in 5 different niches. I'd generally call them natural health cures. I quickly wrote an article for each topic and targeted one LTKY for each article.
The topic generally about 500 to 1000 daily searches and the LTKY had about 50. The LTKY with quotes hand about 200k results in general.

The articles were about 300-400 words. I posted them on goarticles with 3 links including my affiliate link in them.

I then used the May and June backlink packets and created backlinks to all the articles. In addition I used about 3 social bookmarking sites and bookmarked all my profile pages from the May and June packets. (Don't think this really helped much but I did it anyways)

The articles were quickly indexed and on the first couple pages. After 2 weeks the articles have floated between 8 and 15. So not number one but I've got some decent results.

Results Summary after almost one month:
I received 595 article views which is probably what I'd expect given the google search results being between 8 and 15 for the articles.

I found my articles got a click through of 40% to the affiliate link so i had 237 hops.

Of which only 1 converted into a sale for $30.

I must say I was a little disappointed in the affiliate conversion rate and I hope I can achieve top five google search results. I've added the July packet and will let you know if my rankings change.

Hope this helps people wondering about the results from this method.

Thank you for letting us know how it went for you. I am not sure why the conversion rate was that low, though. Possibly as your articles get higher and get more click throughs, you will get more sales.

Just for my own analysis I looked at the PR of the top 5 Sites Google returned for me when I did my search and the results were in order... 5, 0, 3, 4, 5

Interesting that a PR 0 site was the 2nd result when I searched. I did not click on or look at any of the sites just the PR Ranking using the SEO Firefox Plug in.

So we take our Traffic and the following two considerations: 1. Clicks from our Page 2. Click on actual offer page that converts to a commission sale.

How many Clicks will we get per person who searches for our site then visits our page. We have to get them over to the offer page... Can we assume 100%? Hardly. I do not have the analysis... but just because a person visits our page doesn't mean they click on anything. What's a typical "Bounce Rate" for a single sales page? 50%, 80% 95%? Load up your favorite analytics program and find out.

What is your Adsense Click through? Would you say 10% would be a good Adsense Click Through Rate? Okay then lets assume a 10% Clickthrough from the visitors on our page to the actual offer. May be high may be a little low for a really well written page. But lets use 10%. Plus it is easy to do the math.

So our numbers now look like this:

Position 1. 115 x .10 = 11.5 visitors actually clicking though from our page to the clickbank offer. They are now firmly planted on the Click Book offer page.

So we get.

Position 1. 11.5
Position 2. 3.2
POsition 3. 2.3
Position 4. 1.6
Position 5. 1.3
Position 6 1.1

That's how many people we can realistically expect to go from the Search on Google, Find our Article Listing, Read our article, find out link to the Hop and visit the Offer.

Now we have to get these people to BUY! Hopefully our Article did a Good job of preselling and we get a lot of sales.

But how many sales can we expect per hop? Lets get crazy and say out presell was AWESOME and we have a 1:10 ratio... meaning 10% of the visitors on the Offer page will buy. They are in dire pain right?

Position 1 now yields 1 sale per day on average. And that's good. That is very good. Who would complain about making $40 a day from a single article? I sure wouldn't.

In addition, people use rank tracker softwares. Which means that for a competitive keyword we must subtract the number of automated queries. It could be as high as 10%.

Angela, according to Google Keyword Tool, "panic heart attack symptoms" gets searched only 880 times per month globally. Wordtracker is very inaccurate.

"Then, I would look at my results in Wordtracker, and plug several of the
keyword phrases shown into the Google Search Engine until I found a
keyword phrase that has less than 500,000 results in Google without quotes."

The number of results in Google for a given keyword is useless data. I don't care if a keyword triggers 5 million search results, if the top 10 pages have weak on-page and/or off-page SEO, I can easily outrank them. We don't compete will all the search results, we just compete with the top 10 pages.

And I don't know how did you calculate this $400,000 per year number.

What you said about panic attacks is dead on accurate. I know that from personal experience. It took quite a while to figure out what they were, and I would have paid anything to make them go away.
The big problem is, most people who suffer from them do not know what their problem is, so therefore
don't know what to research. Or they are like me and research all the wrong things before they finally
figure out what the problem is. And for those wondering why I didn't just go to a doctor, I did. And I did tell them I had just lost a child and thought I was having a heart attack. I don't know why I had to figure it out myself, but that's what happened.
