Kinda like taking candy from a baby provided the initial introduction highlights a small bit of information that only the business owner knows. Can you say, cut the check now.

And the one tip that you shared at the top of page 8 (in the PDF) is seriously awesome man.
I bet a business owner has never been approached that way. EVER. Great job man, love it!

Hello,

Appreciate the comment.

There isn't any difference doing a google search for local information; the software simply allows you to perform searches faster, more specific for market data that you are seeking, and organizing the info you already need to be reading.

In every business, market data needs to be both the foundation and driving force behind everything you do. Otherwise you are just guessing, and business owners who guess don't stay business owners for very long.

There is no better way to know-your-market. You must study your competition or be left behind.

Clients realize this, that's why companies create 40-person departments just to test and study competitor products, and unravel their marketing.

You have a noteworthy concern, but I assure you; competitive analysis is perfectly ethical. This software will save you time and money. And this type of research is in HIGH DEMAND with owners from the small biz, to the enterprise level.

Best,
Luther

How do you approach a business owner about this? Since most of the companies will be remote you will have to call or email.

Do you share information on how to make contact?

Hey,

I detail the quick methods for approaching businesses and uncovering opportunities in the video and written training that comes with the software package.

There is also an OTO if you would like done-for-you sales materials and templates. These aren't required, but will help some marketers.

Best,
Luther

Luther, this looks great, but how does it pull results locally? Is the modifier field a place where you put a zip code?

Hi,

Thanks for the Q!

That's correct, but you can also use the modifier to add other search parameters and switches to refine your search. String them together with a '+' sign for multiple combinations.

Cheers,
Luther

This is great!

Do I understand that your software takes whatever search results we obtain and formats it into a readable, presentable document or PDF without our effort?

Thanks again.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the nod! Yes, the software organizes the search results into a CSV and sorts them by niche, document type, file extension, and optional modifier. It saves everything to your desktop in one folder, but organized in a tree based on how you configured your search.

In the future, I'll add custom save locations but this is straight-forward research and data mining.

Luther,
1) Do you have any examples of the reports that are generated as an output by this software?
2) Is it completely white-label so that only my branding is visible?
3) Is this a desktop application or does it require a server installation?
4) How many pages is a complete report ready for presentation to client?
5) Are there scaled back reports that feature the highlights to be used for prospecting and building client interest?

I am sure this is an awesome piece of programming just like many of your other offerings that I have. I'm just interested in seeing how the backend delivers on the front end promise.

Luther may really have something here though I wasn't aware this is in demand. However in a web search I found sites like this = = = >
How to Gain Competitive Advantage in the Restaurant Business | Chron.com

But how to sell this and what the response to an offer like this would be, I have no idea.

I'm sure the software does what Luther says and it sure would be great to be able to print something out and sell it like this. I hope someone can expound more on the demand and selling approach as the tool sounds like a great idea!

Hi Luther - wow, private eye stuff - cool!

A few questions:

1-How much are the extra DFU OTO materials?
2-Does the search include email addresses?
3-Do you find that both large AND small companies want this info? I'm wondering if Mon & Pop companies are that concerned with it.
4-Finally, this is desktop software, not a plug-in?

Thanks,
Maury

Hi James,

I have too many examples. I show some in the video in the first reply. I don't think it is a good idea to just dump documents here on the forum either.

The software is a tool that you use. You do not sell the software, so there's no resell rights nor is it brandable. Although you certainly got me thinking on the best way to make that work.

No, you do not need a server or even a website.

Report length depends on your level and attention to detail. The software gathers the information, but you must present it to clients, and decide what value you will present. The reason why it doesn't do this automatically is because there are far too many variables at play. I like the idea of a feature-set that performs this task, so I've added it to dev notes.

This tool is for uncovering opportunity and market data either for yourself, or for clients. It does that by giving you a snapshot of the documents floating around on the web.

The core package includes training to get you started, and the oto includes more sales training & templates.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Luther

Great find! Thanks for that.

I explain how to position this in the training, and also include additional materials in the premium package.

Think about it. Here's a basic example.

Say I'm opening an Italian Restaurant in Washington, DC. If I didn't study my competitors in and around my location, all my prices, menu content, and advertising will be done in the blind. Prepare a report that summarizes the market for a few areas, and then monitor your state's corporate directory for new restaurant businesses. They'll want the information if they don't already have it (most don't to a wide degree, unless they are pro)

The biz owner can gain an advantage by discovering under-served markets (like types of food, and styles of cooking)

In doing so, that food establishment could open up a whole new market for his store. How much is that worth?

Any smart business owner studies the competition and sees what everyone else is doing. If they don't, they are setting themselves up for at best, lost revenue and at worst; complete failure.

This is a fact of life and commerce. The smart owners know they need to do research, and not just once. But they also don't have time, nor are the best researchers. Offer to do it for them, and this service practically sells itself.

Hi Maury,

Thanks for the Q's

The extras are $27 and include more training, a sales brochure selling competitive intel, email templates, and a work agreement.

Yes, both large and small biz need, buy, and seek this information. They are also seeking fresh ideas on how to drive sales, tap new markets, and keep tabs on the competition.

It is a fundamental element of business that a consultant can easily do for almost anyone. It just takes homework, and eye for opportunity. I offer training there too.

This desktop application is not a lead generator. If anything, it is a document/data miner. That said, it can find leads.

For example, I have a side project creating tools for firefighters. I was able to locate the approved vendor list for a national distributor. Those approved vendors are my ideal target, because at least one of them will buy in, and get my products into the mega-distributor.

There are perhaps millions of people out there trying to do the same thing with their products, right now. If you can find them, you can offer them lists of approved vendors and recommendations for outreach.

That's just one market position out of a vast under-served ocean.

A mom & pop will want to know what other mom & pop stores are up to. Especially when you equate more strategic local marketing with refined marketing that leads to higher sales volume.

You may have to price your services to move, but they will move.

Correct, this is a desktop application.

Best,
Luther

Hey Robbi,

Yes - this software works anywhere in the world, so long as you have an internet connection.

I'm also open to all suggestions and feedback, so if there's something (niche, doc type, filetype) you need, just let me know here or via support.

Thanks for your interest!

I am purchasing for sure!! For those looking for ideas for this software: I used to have a retail store in a very competitive niche and used to spent hours trying to find where one of my competitors was getting certain products. If you do offline at all this will prove invaluable at some point.

If anybody in Australia buys this could they leave a review? I know you say it will work world wide but will it be fully functional with all pistons firing is my concern. Only because I've purchased WSO's before to find only part of it's features work. NOT from Luther though as only purchased Themes from him prior to this offer.

I love data mining.

I think I could sell this service via a Weekend Webinar Blitz, don't you, Luther?

Hey Mark,

Great idea! Completely. I want a case study out of you, if you will.

A webinar may very well shatter records with the right pitch.

Hi Luther, I've been playing with this a few minutes, and have come up with a few documents and a very boring report on school and local partnerships Y-A-W-N!

As you've been looking at this for a while, perhaps it would be helpful to publish to customers a few general areas where you have found a lot of info, OR is it up to us to pick a niche and than add lots of modifiers?

This program is like a HUGE cave looking for treasure chests - but having a more specific map on where to start would be very helpful.

Regards,
Maury

P.S. Maybe a list of modifiers you have had success with would also be helpful.

Powerful software, but just to get further clarification what is meant by:

YES - Can be used internationally

Does this mean we can search local information or we can use it internationally but only for USA market?

This entire concept is SUPER unique.

I've never heard of this approach before ......

Seriously, what a way to get your foot in the door!

And the one tip that you shared at the top of page 8 (in the PDF) is seriously awesome man.

I bet a business owner has never been approached that way. EVER.

Great job man, love it!

Will gathering data from google with this software be affected by the Google Secure Search Update?

You can read about it here:

This is a fact of life and commerce. The smart owners know they need to do research, and not just once. But they also don't have time, nor are the best researchers. Offer to do it for them, and this service practically sells itself. - LL
Hi Luther, you always have a different angle approach to things.
This product is a proof - excellent idea !

I am wondering if you have any thoughts or methods of finding those smart business owners who needs the info about the competition ?

Thanks, Alex.

This looks really cool and unique. I like the example you use about compiling data for specific niches in specific areas and then approaching new businesses with the data. Seems like a great way to scale this up and turn it into a real business.

I'm picturing doing a lot of compiling up front, then using a service I know of to monitor new business openings. Simply contact them with the pitch and if they are smart they will buy.

Would this be a viable way to use the software?

Thanks

Thanks Alex!

I include some really sharp ideas in the training, and also more specific training in the oto. Finding them could be easy, or it could be difficult. It is as varied as the total number of niches and markets on earth.

In most cases, the starting point is not the search; it is the solution/benefit that you can bring to the table. It make take some poking around to locate a track or type of intel to offer, or you will already have an idea, and would use the tool to find assets and insights.

The approach is two fold (this reflects the training) - either skim what is out there and come up with ideas, or use your existing ideas and ask yourselves:
  • "what would I want to know if I were that biz owner?"
  • "what could give the owners a window into the competition"
  • "what are local competitors doing that is working for them?"
  • "what are the not-so-local competitors doing (that is working) and could possibly work for my client?"

So, lets say you're in Chicago and you're servicing Joe Smith, who owns a place that serves brunch.

Check the immediate area and surrounding areas for other breakfast and lunch menus. Compile a list of menus, the prices, hours of operation; compare them, and average them. Then compare the findings with your client's menu so you can say for example;

"Joe, the average consumer price for Eggs Benedict is 6.57. You are charging 5.25. You could raise your prices to $6, and still have better pricing than "x" down the street."

Its a minor thing, but multiply that over the depth of pricing, and these minor tweaks add up really fast. Plus, the owner will LOVE the way you think and be more apt to following your advice, whatever it is.

There's no price tag for that.

I use food examples a lot because of my background, but I will add some others to the thread once I catch up.

Hope this helps!

Best,
L

Yes, but the won't buy if they are smart. They'll buy when they see the value and potential reward. These are the elements you need to sell with. Benefits.

Knowing what your competition is doing is half the battle (albeit strategically essential) but the other half is putting the intel to work and implimenting solutions. This is why when you discover a solution for them, they'll be more apt to doing business with you, or go to you for confirmation each time they have an idea.

This sale doesn't require implementation because these types of concepts are typically in-house tweaks based on what others are doing. They need to start somewhere because "knowing is half the battle" and you "sell the knowing."

Hope that helps and I'm sorry for the lack of brevity.

Cheers,
LL

Hi Pap,

Yes, I cover the basics in the MarketSpy guidebook. I also have premium training and outreach templates available in the oto.

Yes, this will work internationally, but the core features are in English. So if you want to find docs in other languages, you'll have to rely on modifiers to locate them. I'll see about adding multiple languages, but it will be a heck of a job to develop.

Best,
LL

Hi Luther,

The software looks great! I already have several ideas on how I'd like to use it.

I want to thank Nick for the recommendation.

Will you provide free lifetime updates to those purchasing the software?

Thanks,
xtra4rca

You always have great WSOs, Luther. You're one of my all-time favorite "WSO providers". My question is this: I am woefully UNtechie. It's actually kind of sad how untechie I am. Is this going to be user-friendly enough for someone like me to figure out?

Thanks Angela! Your kind words are humbling.

No stress at all. This is completely non-technical. If anything, it is conceptual and practical, which most non-techies excel at.

Point & click to select the niches, docs, and file types you want to find. Then run a search. Save the output.

Use the data it finds to uncover opportunity to service owners, then approach them.

-or-

Use the potential reward/return (prospect of outsmarting / studying the competition) to sell services. Then do market research ONLY after the biz owners signs a consulting agreement.

You can stop there, and let them beg you to perform the work. Which you can outsource or perform ...at a premium.

Best,
LL

just thought I'd ask you another question regarding this: Can we target businesses which aren't your typical mom and pop biz? Let's say I want to see how some of the smaller slaughterhouses are able to grow their turnover while the bigger ones is going downhill. Will that be possible?

Also got some franchise concept businesses I would love to get a look into.

I really really hope this would be possible

Yes I include a variety of selections that can be corporate, government or whomever. There plenty of B2B concepts included and nearly endless combinations of data to mine.

Plus I am very willing to add more niches, concepts, filetypes and document types to help the user base. Just send over some suggestions once you've gone through the software.

Like a search engine, it won't hand you ideas, but the ideas will come from what it hands you: the opportunity to analyze raw market data to locate a position or analyzing market data as a service for clients big & small. The only real difference would be in the size of your fees.

I would love hear the franchise concept.
