I read Dana’s Twitter Gold Rush yesterday morning my time and created an account at Twitter. Following her plan, a little over 24 hours later, I’ve already got 388 followers and more coming in hourly.

Twitter is a great way to interact with people. I was on it when a friend has a disaster happen, and immediately the twitter family were there with help and support.

What has that to do with Dana's book? Everything. If you are not using Twitter, then you are losing out big time. I was running some numbers this morning and I *THINK* that less than 4% of Twitterers are actually using it for marketing purposes. And of those marketing, I'm seeing less than 1% doing it effectively.

That's based on some preliminary data I've collected, but I think that despite it's popularity, Twitter is largely untapped generally speaking. There is a huge opportunity here that can be exploited effectively

Around 11:00 PM last night (9/6/08) I bought Dana's Twitter report, Twitter Gold Rush. I gave it a quick scan after receiving it--with no problems, I might add--and being busy put it aside.

Earlier this evening I printed it and wandered off to Border's to look at girls and bookwatch--or vice versa. I also had a major need for caffeine.

While enjoying my coffee I read the report. I forgot all about the girl watching...

I'm totally impressed!

Every step is clearly explained and well illustrated. You couldn't ask for more.

It looks as though I'll be making funny little bird-like noises in the very near future.

Thought I'd give a quick update on my progress - I'm up to 500 followers as of now and nearly 600 unique visitors from Twitter (not from me promoting the site there). A few people are talking about the site and we've had 12 sales over the weekend with Twitter as the referrer - again, not from me promoting anything).

That makes me SO happy! Just remember to Tweet regularly - like a quick update several times a day - and the more followers that you get, the more results you will see because you'll be speaking to a bigger audience.

Also - once you get up to a certain point and have many hundreds of followers - it's just easier for people to find you, and people will start following you BECAUSE you have a lot of followers.

I just, hesitantly, bought this WSO 30 minutes ago.

I know it's only 7 bucks , but I signed up with Twitter mid July 08 and already have around 1,000 followers myself. I didn't think I would learn anything I didn't already know or could learn on my own. I was wrong.

Your guide was straight to the point. As they say, great minds think alike However, you turned me on to some GREAT tools, as well as actions to take, that I was not taking. This is an excellent report. I'm glad I bought it and I can definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it.

I tried Twitter Karma this morning and it didn't work TWICE but now it is. There's also another tool called My Tweeple. mytweeple.com.

I am probably going to have to update the Twitter book.

followers = 270
Subscribers to my list (brand new and also set up on Sunday) : 18

I know these results are conservative but the beauty of the system is that they will grow as time goes on.
