Consuming large portions of fiber has also proven to be beneficial. This softens the stool and allays constipation.

Whole grains and some vegetables contain lots of fiber, and with a little research on the internet, you can add more foods to this list.

Drink plenty of water to avoid constipation if you have a high fiber diet.

Cream of witch hazel: You can apply this as a cream or lotion topically to the anal area and wait and watch the results. The pain and swelling will be gone in days.

Chestnut: This works by improving circulation and strengthening the walls of the blood vessels of the affected region. Aescin is the active compound that relieves hemorrhoidal discomfort. You can drink this as tea or as medicine directly. If you are allergic to chestnut, this remedy is not for you. Remember that only products made from seeds or bark of young boughs are non toxic. There maybe multiple side effects, though these are usually rare.
