Hi Ryan,

Can the text on the buttons be changed?

Looking at the two demo sites you posted, the buttons read "View On Amazon" and "Read More," respectively. Of course they lead to the shopping cart and not the product page, as one would assume from that button text.

This could take some people aback, as they are expecting to see the product page, not the cart.

I think it would be "safer" to have the button read "Add to cart" instead.

Otherwise, I think this plugin could be dynamite.

Hi 1Constant,

I may need to actually see this to answer your question accurately. If the sub-domain isn't running WP, then ExtendAzon won't be able to be used there, but it should work on the actual WP site assuming they are the right type of links.

I have not used Fresh Stores, but I am thinking that is a standalone script (something that doesn't run on WP)? If this is the case, it wouldn't be compatible with ExtendAzon.

Thanks for your interest,
Ryan

Hi thinredline,

I have not tested it with phpZon. However, if it generates standard HTML Amazon affiliate links, it should work fine.

If you would like to give it a shot and it doesn't work, I don't have any problem issuing a refund anytime within the first 30 days of your purchase.

Thank you for your interest as well,

Hi Steve,

The buttons that you are talking about on the demo sites come from the Amazon ad plugin for that demo site (ExtendAzon is not generating these buttons). With demo #1, that is Associate Goliath, and demo #2 is WP Zon Builder. I've used both plugins, but I don't know everything about them, so I cannot say for sure if you could change the buttons there. However, if you aren't using these plugins, you can always choose to create your site manually in WP using normal Amazon affiliate links and buttons of your own choosing, which would then be converted by ExtendAzon.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions,
Ryan

Don't most people use "one-click" ordering? Personally I never buy on Amazon using the shopping cart. It's always one-click.

This plugin wouldn't do anything for those orders, would it?

If you're using Associate Goliath there is place to change what the button says in the admin area.

hi,

i buy on amazon since round about 14 years, and - honestly - i *never* used 1-click, never. so i think, it is some kind of personal taste.

but, i think, it does not matter. as your affiliate sites should not be able to use 1-click anyway (or how do you do it?) and would either activate amazon add to cart or show detail page or something like that.

hence, my 'hope' is, that the plugin is smart enough to only change 'add to cart' buttons and not just all links to amazon product pages, which would be a severe issue. (well imho only surpassed, if it would not buy from the right seller will test that at first...)

regards,
thomas.

Hi Rick,

The marketing course is a large file, so some with slower connections may have this problems. I replied to your support ticket a few minutes ago - I will have to take a look and see the error you are talking about, but the support ticket did go through OK.

Please let me know if you have any more problems.

Hi tennjd,

The one click ordering is something that Amazon customers with accounts can use on Amazon. With the way ExtendAzon works, they would be sent to the add to cart page. After confirming, it will take them to their shopping cart. If they are an Amazon member and already signed into their account and have the one-click ordering option enabled, that button will still show up in the top-right. Orders completed that way would still work as normal though (ultimately, the one-click ordering won't have any affect on the way ExtendAzon works).

Thanks for your interest,
Ryan

Hi Thomas,

I am under the impression that encoded scripts will be improperly flagged by virus detection, but that is really only the case with less sophisticated virus detection programs. If you scan the file with something like McAfee, it will show up clean (there are definitely not viruses in it, and I'm familiar with this false detection). Unfortunately, I cannot distribute an unencoded version, but there are a few other ways that you can install the plugin on your site.

#1. Directly upload the zip file through your WP admin.

or

#2. Decompress the file to your local computer, and then upload the "extendazon" folder to the "wp-content/plugins" folder of your WP site.

Please let me know if you have any other problems or questions.

Sorry for any inconvenience,
Ryan

Hi Cathy,

Yes. Basically the same features can be used with that plugin as well. The main difference is that it is a standalone ad creation plugin, while ExtendAzon works by converting ads from other plugins.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Thomas,

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about how to install the plugin that way. The plugin guidebook has a walk through on how to install with this method too, which may be useful if you haven't tried it that way before.

Thanks for your business,
Ryan

hi ryan,

ok, tried #1. does also not work.

i also tried to just upload the zip to the server, it is rejected. the thing seems to check the archive.

Befehl: STOR extendazon_1-0-0.zip
Antwort: 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for extendazon_1-0-0.zip
Antwort: 550 Virus Detected and Removed: PHP.Shell-51
Status: Empfange Verzeichnisinhalt...
Befehl: PASV

.. hmmm ..

finally, i got it to work. (just broke the encoded string into parts.)

it DOES work, including the on site add to cart, what i find nicer than going to amazon add to cart.

however, it does use the wrong seller.

i use reviewazon and in my case, the product sells for around 1.95eur (third party, lowest price new). if i click on the extendazon add to cart, it adds it with 4.95eur (that is the amazon price).

obviously i need to bring them into sync. i can not show some price and if visitor clicks, it adds it with another price.

any ideas?

thanks and regards,
thomas.

Hi Thomas,

Glad to hear everything is working now. Could I ask which web host you use? I do believe anyone else has had this problem, but I thought it would be good to know the host just in case.

Amazon is supposed to make the best selection when the product is added to your shopping cart. Sometimes they may return a product with a higher price, but the shipping costs are typically lower with it. I would look closer at them to determine which one is really the best buy to be promoting.

If you do find that the Amazon shopping cart system isn't selecting the right product, please send me a support ticket ( ExtendAzon Plugin Support ) and let me take a look at the page on your site promoting that product. I may be able to make some additions to the plugin in the future that could give you some control over this type of thing with specific products, but I would need to see some of the products to start work on something like this.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other problems.

hi ryan,

yes, i use all-inkl.com - it is my preferred host.

---

thanks for the description of the price selection.

i checked two low cost products,
- the first is 4.95 amazon (probably + shipping as <20eur) and 1.94+3 third party - yes, i would go with amazon.
- the second was 7.99 amazon (probably + shipping as <20eur) and 7.20+3.0

so yes, it looks like it selects the best deal (clear for the 7.99 thing, unclear, why it did choose 4.95 amazon instead of 4.94 total third party - might be, that it is assumed to be better, as one can get free shipping, if products are added.

(the inconsistency is what bothers me - visitor might *think* i am trying to fool them with wrong prices. not good.)

would it be possible to re-evaluate the cart as i add products, as then seller might change as i add products and reach amazon free shipping?

could you add some option to select the one with lowest price excl. shipping?

only idea is, to remove all the prices, what i also do not like.

i need a way to bring reviewazon (wprobot would also be nice) in sync.

do you (resp. does somebody) has advice, how i could show the visitor consistent data)?

thanks again,
thomas.

hi ryan,

i checked the reviewazon integration in more detail and found this issue:

- the add to cart button is replaced, nice
- the link to customer reviews is not, nice
- reviewazon has some tell a friend link, it is replaced with add to cart. this is not good.
- it looks that i addition all links to the detail page on amazon are replaced. this is not good.

i do not really care about the tell a friend thing. i could drop it from the product page.

however, it would be best, if only the 'real' buy/add to cart/... links are placed, and links to the detail page are kept.

could you enhance the replacement of the links to only replace in 'unmarked' a-tags?
something like {a href=".." gets replaced, somthing like {a href=".." nochange="nochange" is not, or maybe use rel=".." or ref="..".

imho this should be just an enhancement of the 'find a'-regex.

this way, one could explicitly choose which links should not be touched by the plugin. this should also improve compatability and flexibility, e.g. some links that shall indeed open the details on amazon could stay intact.

i do not think, that i should let links be replaced by an add to cart, that refer to more information, as visitor has then no chance to check the amazon site directly via link for information i did not include in my site.

meanwhile i deactived extendazon. it is nice, but i need more control - i must not replace all links to the detail page.

thanks,
thomas.

Hi again Thomas,

Thank you for all of the feedback.

With the prices, I will have to think about some ways I could try to handle it on my end. At the very least, I should be able to offer some settings to allow the plugin to select a different product, but I also think this is something that some people would not want to use (so I need to be sure it is something that can be turned off if it wasn't necessary because it would take extra API calls to accomplish this).

I really like the idea about marking specific links as a way to exclude them from being converted. I will very seriously consider adding this to the plugin soon.

For the different types of Amazon links, this is definitely a change that I can quickly make to the plugin. As an example, the review links are already excluded.

I was wondering if you could send me a link to your site - through the support system would probably be best. I'm pretty sure I know what you are talking about with the detail and tell a friend links, but I would like to be sure I'm on the same page as you.

Talk to you again soon,
Ryan

Sounds extremely interesting!

I guess the shopper needs to be signed in to their account at the time of adding to the cart right? What if he ads to cart, when he is not signed in, shuts the computer down, comes back tomorrow and signs in to his Amazon account? Are the products he added to the cart while he was not signed in still there? Is the cookie still valid?

Also if they purchase everything in the shopping cart, the 90 day effect is no more right? So may be we should also encourage them to add something to the cart that they may not necessarily want to purchase right away

Thanks!

Hey Ryan, this is a really exciting plugin! I just bought it and I'm installing it now. I have 3 questions:

1. From your experience, which of the two methods has a higher conversion - the on-site links or the direct links?

2. Does the customer still get my 90 day cookie if, after placing the item in their Amazon cart, they later remove it?

3. Does the customer get my 24 hour cookie if, upon being taken to Amazon's 'Ad this item to your cart?' page, they decide not to add it?

Ryan, I have been looking for a plugin like this for some time now and glad I found yours. Now hopefully it will help out my horrible conversion rate...7500 clicks and only 13 sales! Really looking forward to seeing this work and will update on any progress.

I'm also a bit concerned about the impact this plugin may have on conversions.

Based on my experience, even though of course I presell the products, many visitors are clicking on my Amazon links, and they later seem to continue their "research" in Amazon, browse other items etc, as they sometimes:
  • Buy the product I recommended
  • Buy another related product
  • Buy another completely unrelated product
  • Don't buy anything
In the last case above, I've got nothing to lose, but I'm not sure whether funnelling people to a direct "add to cart" landing page at Amazon will increase my comissions over time, or may do the opposite and "scare" people that are not convinced they want to purchase yet, causing them to bounce back and completely killing my conversions, especially in cases 2 and 3 above.

I think this may be a "numbers game", maybe some people that would otherwise have browsed and bought something are turned off by the add to cart page and leave, but others do buy, and buy other items in the following 89 days, thus compensating the initial loss of conversions and leading to bigger profits over time.

Have you got any statistics on how using a plugin like this affected your Amazon comissions in the long run?

Hi Ryan, this plugin supports the ShopperPress theme/plugin on sale on the .com domain?
Because it's the one who gives better results with Amazon than any other plugin on sale.

The problem is it adds Amazon products through user clicks.
You can check it on "halloweennewcostumes . com" for an idea, because it's more easy to check than explain how it works.

In case it will work for this plugin/theme, I will get it!

Thanks so much for your answer.
See you soon,
Alessandro

Also if they purchase everything in the shopping cart, the 90 day effect is no more right? So may be we should also encourage them to add something to the cart that they may not necessarily want to purchase right away

Thanks!
No, Amazon does not require someone to be signed into their Amazon account to use the shopping cart, so everything should still work fine whether they are signed in or not.

That is alright right that the cookie goes away once a purchase is made. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't credit for additional sales even within the same time period (unless you get them tagged with another cookie after their purchase).

Hi mafilippone,

Thank you for your purchase. I've answered your questions below.

1. I really feel like it depends on a couple of factors. Product type, product price, and method of promotion all seem to play a factor in what works the best. First, think about the products you are promoting on a particular site. Then, consider whether people are likely to buy one of those products by itself or buy multiple products at the same time. For example, if you are promoting an expensive TV, a decent percentage of people that buy it may just buy it by itself, while party supplies might have multiple purchases. For the first type of product, the direct links seem to do well because they eliminate a step in the process, but with products that are likely to get multiple purchases, the on-site cart is often more convenient/useful for them. I also think product price and even how you promote something can also play a role in which will be best. If you are preselling in your content (like with an "Add to Cart" button, for example), a direct link will not really confuse your visitors, but without the preselling, I feel like the shopping cart lets them know what is going on. I feel like this is important with the shopping cart API system since the traffic has to confirm that they want to add the products to your cart.

2. I cannot say for sure on this type of situation, although I believe the cookie would remain as long as it was actually added to their cart initially. I've scoured the Amazon agreements for things like this, but unfortunately Amazon is not 100% clear about it.

3. No, I am pretty sure that you would not get any cookie if they do not confirm, but this is really a similar situation to #2 where I can't be 100% sure.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your business,
Ryan

Hi SümerTech,

It sounds like your traffic is pretty decent (assuming that's just one site). A lot of people think that more clicks will always equal more sales (the numbers game), but I actually tend to work the other way around. I would rather qualify my referrals to only send interested people to Amazon, which results in very nice conversion rates in most cases. My golden rule, "don't trick/mislead anyone to click a link".

Best of luck to you,
Ryan

Hi Cash Money,

Yes, This works with almost all of the Amazon locales. Amazon does not yet support the shopping cart system with the Chinese, Italian, and Spanish locales, but all others are supported.

Ryan

Hi Mikel,

I partially explained some of this higher up in this same post. With the points you mentioned, #2 and #3 would still give you credit for the sale as long as it was purchased from Amazon and they were not tagged with another affiliate cookie before their purchase.

From my experience, I believe the numbers game ends up causing sites to work out like the site SümerTech mentioned. Even though using the cart system is likely to decrease your clicks, preselling the products does boost conversions considerably over blind linking methods. Even if it is viewed as a numbers game, I still think the cart system works out the best because of the massive cookie duration. From this point of view, I feel like it works better for customers that need to take the time to research a product before they actually buy.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Ryan

Hi Iain,

I have also not tested ReviewAZON, but I did just take a look at one of their demo sites. It looks like the green "Order Now" buttons and the image links are using cloaked links, so assuming there is a way to disable that feature then it should work.

At the bottom of the demo page, there is also an iframe with reviews. Nothing in this iframe will get converted.

It you would like to test it out and it doesn't work out, I'd more than happy to offer a refund any time in the first 30 days.

Thanks for your interest,
Ryan

Hi Alessandro,

Using ExtendAzon with ShopperPress could technically work, although it may not really work the way you would want it to. After looking at the site you sent, I think the only thing that ExtendAzon would convert is the "buy now from amazon' button and the 'more info' text link. Also, using the on-site cart with ExtendAzon would likely be confusing as well with the other cart already there (unless that can be disabled in ShopperPress).

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your interest,
Ryan

Talk to you again soon,

hi ryan,

great news, this will solve my current 'problems', that keeps me from enabling extendazon on the site now.

yes, i do not want to do some kind of promotion in your thread, i submitted support ticket 'extendazon - link to site'.

as i do not know, if you understand some german, i included the links, that are converted, that should not. the thing is, that some, but not all can be detected imho by checking the url. i am sure, you get easily the idea.

therefore yes, i think it best would be an extension to let links be excluded, it is the same as you do with review links. and as imho it will not be possible to detect all based on url, it would be the most powerful and flexible way.

because if i write 'add to cart' ==> url, i would want to let it add to cart,
and 'more details' ==> url, i would not, despite the fact, that the urls are the same (e.g. reviewazon detail page link). the motivation of the visitor to click these are different and i would want them to do, what the visitor expect. the links there shall just do, what they 'tell' the visitor will happen

thanks again,
thomas.

Hi Ryan,

I have a question: When the potential buyer clicks on the ExtendAzon generated link he is taken to a confirmation page on Amazon, where he is given a choice:
- Confirm placement of the selected item to the cart... or
- "No, thank you. Please take me back to Amazon.com."

What if the person clicks "No, thank you"? Will they still be "cookied" to us for 24 hours, or does that mean that no affiliate cookie whatsoever is placed on their computer?

I bought and install the ExtendAZon plugin on 2 of my sites running on WPZon, and both sites work just fine... Make sure to go the WPZon settings ==> "General Settings" ==> "SEO Links & Cloaking" ==> UNCHECK cloak links and track links, and you are good to go.

Good Luck!

ps. Ryan been extremely helpful with his support / advise. 2 Thumbs Up !!!

Hi Bomx,

The plugin is not supposed to work with those types of links (they're javascript). Unfortunately, there is no way that the plugin can access the information in those links and convert them. It just works with the standard HTML Amazon affiliate links.

Hi Ryan,

I purchased the developer's license yesterday, and still have not received my download link. When I clicked on the link "click here to access your purchase" all I was directed to was your OTO. The message said the download link would be sent to my email- I AM STILL WAITING AND HAVE AN ACTIVE TICKET IN YOUR SUPPORT SYSTEM. I am still waiting for a reply.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Hi Frank,

You already have a closed ticket in my support system that is exactly the same as your active ticket, but the closed ticket has been answered (about 12+ hours ago). I responded to your second ticket as well to ensure you have received it.

To anyone else that cannot find their download link after purchasing, search your email box for a mail titled "ExtendAzon WP Plugin Download Link". Some customers have reported that it ended up in their spam/junk mailbox.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other problems or questions.

Hi Jerryaa,

Yes, I'm happy to provide a refund for any reason in the first 30 days. If it doesn't work out for you, just submit a ticket through the support system (link available on the plugin download page and in the faq in this wso). Most refunds get processed within a few hours (middle of the night requests sometimes take a bit longer).

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Is the 90 day cookie for only the product in the cart or all products (if they decide on getting another product instead or multiple different products)?

For another scenario, how about if the product goes in the cart and is later removed (and a different product added) ?

hi ryan.

this is obsolete now. i did it myself.

if you find a solution for the different prices between extendazon and reviewazon, it would be great. meanwhile i will check with reviewazon, if i can configure this thing accordingly.

thanks and regards,

p.s. i suggest you look at how you split the tag into attributes. this causes problems, if you have attribute-values with space, like lists of classes, scripts, or - in my case - a title with spaces... you get the idea.

Hi Allen,

Shopperpress might be working with ExtendAzon now. I've just released a new update today so it can convert more types of links. I am pretty sure that one of these updates was based on a Shopperpress site I was looking at for a customer.

Quite a few of the other minor problems mentioned thus far in the thread have now been fixed as well.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other problems.

Thank you for your interest,
Ryan

Hi Thomas,

I believe I sent you a message through the support system just a bit ago about the new version release as well. This should take care of most of your initial problems, although the pricing issue is something that I am going to have to investigate more to see if there is a solution I can work out on my end.

Thank you for all of the info you have sent. It has been very helpful with a few of the updates for the recent new version.

Feel free to let me know if you experience any other problems,

Default Re: Boost Amazon Conversions With An Extended 90 Day Affiliate Cookie Duration - Works W/ Other Plug

Hi Ryan,

3 questions.

1: will this work with WProbot?
2: will this work with this theme: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...sions-now.html
3: will it work with SkimLinks? Skimlinks | Affiliate marketing made easy - content monetization | Skimlinks

Thanks,
Andre

Thank you for all of the info you have sent. It has been very helpful with a few of the updates for the recent new version.

Feel free to let me know if you experience any other problems,

hello ryan.

yes, thanks, just saw, that it came in 0:10 local time, about 3 hours after i posted to wf and the support ticket.

so unfortunately my post was not soon enough to save you the time, but on the other hand, i believe, that this extension will be an additional benefit for many of your customers.

i just downloaded and will check later today, as i did minor other changes to support the needed attribute-values-with-spaces. if this also works now, i think to revert back to your version. i have no real interest in my mod. (i also used a css class as indicator, so it is what i believe is the right way to do it.)

as promised i opened a thread with reviewazon, if i can get other prices than i see in the custom fields.

until then, i need to keep extendazon disabled, as i am not willing to present visitor another price in the cart than it sees on the site.

i am sure, it is ok with you, that i ask for refund in a few days, if i still can not put extendazon to use then.

thanks again for your support, regards,
thomas.

Thanks for a great product Ryan. I don't typically comment on WSOs, but I just had to leave a quick note because this one was a life saver. I was about to update a ton of my websites with your Product Style plugin so that I could get the 90 day cookie. ExtendAzon came out just in time so I didn't have to re-do my sites. I just uploaded ExtendAzaon and all of the links on my sites were updated. The product works like a breeze and it took only minutes to get my sites up and running.

Thanks again!

Hi Ryan,

It works perfectly on single site but seems not working on WPMU. Would you upgrade to make it work with WP Multisites verison?

Thanks.

Forgive my ignorance......
With the 90 cookie....does it extend for ALL purchases they make within 90 days? Or is it just for the next purchase?
