List Building Exposed: The Dark Secrets of List Building!
If you're like most internet marketers, you'll have heard the phrase "the money's in the list" regularly.
But, if you're like most internet marketers, you've made a few attempts at building a list and discovered one or more of the lies you were told:
Myth 1: Each subscriber is worth $1 a month
That $1 figure has been thrown around since at least the year 2000.
It wasn't true then and it definitely isn't true now.
Truth be told, each subscriber could be costing you money or they could be bringing you in sales left, right and center. Or anywhere in between.
I can't tell you that figure.
Nor can any other internet marketer.
Because they don't know you and they don't know your list and they don't know how you communicate with your list.
Or even if you mail your list at all.
Myth 2: Don't mail your subscribers too often
You've probably been told this on lots of occasions.
Often by the same internet marketers who fill up your email inbox to overflowing with messages day and night.
Different markets have different ideas of how often "too often" is.
Different people in the same market have different ideas of how often "too often" is.
Different people open their emails at different times of the day or different days of the week (especially if they're on an automated sequence of emails that's determined by when they first signed up).
And that's before we get onto the everyday life things that get in the way of opening those automated emails we send out.
You won't please all the people all the time.
That's just not possible.
So you need to figure out the mailing frequency that works best for you.
And there's a huge elephant in the room on this one.
The "ideal" mailing frequency for your subscribers isn't constant over time.
Think about it:
When you're new to a list, you're keen and eager. You can't get too much information.
When you've been round the block a few times, things change.
You're getting closer to knowing it all.
Your focus has changed.
Life can get back in the way again.
So your appetite for emails on that topic diminishes.
Myth 3: Open rates are everything
I've had emails from marketers saying I've not opened their emails and they're going to stop sending me messages because I'm not "opening" their vital (often salesy) messages.
Even for emails I read.
What the autoresponder companies don't like to tell you is that email open rates are as real as Santa Claus or the tooth fairy.
They rely on a small image being downloaded - normally so small you'd never notice it.
"Great!", you think.
Except most email programs default to not showing images unless the person receiving the email says otherwise.
So your pretty HTML email gets shown fine.
The links work.
Err, actually, yes, the "this email has been opened" image is missing.
So as far as your autoresponder company is concerned, that email never got opened.
The bigger autoresponder companies have a workaround for this:
If you've set your links to be tracked and one of your email recipients clicks the link, that will count as the email being opened even if the tracking pixel never got shown.
So the autoresponder companies know that open rates are fallible.
And they adjust as best they can.
But they can only do that if someone is motivated enough to click on a link.
If you're doing what you've been told and giving valuable content in that email, maybe there's no need for someone to click.
So that valuable email - maybe the one that keeps people as a subscriber - never shows as having been opened.
Hmm. Not good.
Myth 4: My emails are so good, everyone instantly reads them
If that's your thought, I'm not sure if there's much hope for you.
The reality is that people often use different email addresses, especially if they're signing up for freebie offers in the internet marketing community.
Less so in other areas but it still happens.
For some reason, they think they're going to get spammed.
Now, I hope you're not the kind of person who does that.
But they don't know.
So they're cautious.
They use a second email address to sign up for free offers.
That gets checked when they sign up.
They click the confirmation link if absolutely necessary.
Then they don't look at that email box until they sign up for a new offer.
If you've got an email list of any size, you've got people like that on your list.
Maybe you do it yourself (or will now that I've given you the idea!)
Not much you can do about these people except pay for them in your monthly subs to your autoresponder company.
But no-one really mentions them when they hype up list building and how much money you can make from your shiny new list.
So, after all that doom and gloom, what can you do?
Basically, you need to tip the odds as far as possible in your favour so that the people who do read your emails build up a relationship with you and buy your stuff.
Get that right and you'll be making rather more than that fictional "$1 per subscriber per month" figure and you won't much care about the people who are just automatically filing your emails somewhere the sun doesn't shine.
I recently ran a free webinar for my list and covered the topic of list building and how it works in the real world.
You'll get a copy of this webinar - up to the point where I opened the floor to questions. I've not included the Q&A session as we went off topic and I answered questions from people on a variety of other subjects.
If you're on my list, you'll have had the whole webinar including the Q&A session already.
But if you're not yet on my list, you'll get the webinar - it's my style, so there's no fluff or small talk or sales pitch. Just information.
You'll also get an extra two videos that I've created to fill in a few gaps that I couldn't cover in a 37 minute webinar.
They go into more depth on some of the things I've talked about here and - more importantly - what you can do about them.
So you'll get an extra 31 minutes of videos that cover the things I talk about in the webinar but in more depth.
You'll even get to peek inside my own email inbox as we take a look at some of the subject lines I'm on the receiving end of.
Some I'll read (not whilst I'm recording the video), others I'll delete unread. Much like you do.
We'll talk about subject lines in general and how you can improve your chances of getting your emails opened and read, rather than instantly deleted.
We'll also talk about what you can say inside your emails.
Not in depth because I don't know you personally but certainly on the level where you can decide what to write yourself.
To get all this, just click the "buy" button.
It could make the difference between earning money from those lists you're building (or intend to build) and just paying your autoresponder company every month for no reason other than vanity.
This is priced cheap so that even if you're one of my subscribers and you've already watched the webinar that's included, you'll still get good value.
All you need to do is get just one more sale from your list to pay for this WSO.
So you just need to learn (and use) one thing, once off, and it's paid for itself.
Naturally I'd like to think that you'll do rather better than that.
Maybe you'll apply just one thing but use it in all your email campaigns from now onwards.
In which case that "one thing" will pay for itself over and over and over and over again.
Maybe it will turn your current thinking on how often you should mail your list on its head. And that change in mailing frequency could affect your response rate.
But you won't know until you click the buy button and watch the videos!
So take that first step now....
By the way, there is an upsell.
It's by no means essential but I think it works well with it.
One of the things I mention is that you really should be keeping your list as close as possible to you.
That means weaning yourself off promoting affiliate offers and encouraging your hard earned list to join other people's lists.
In other words, creating your own products. So that you can get 100% profit on your own sales to your list and get other affiliates sending you buyers to your list for a one-off commission.
Then your list really does start to earn money rather than be an overhead!
But more of that after you've bought the main offer.
And whether you buy the upsell or not, I guarantee you'll make more money from your list once you've watched and implemented these videos!
So click the "buy" button and find out how you can make your list pay for itself!

I am impressed...
We have heard this maybe millions of times that "List building is where its at" but alone list building cannot take you any far.
You have to apply certain strategies told my Trevor in this WSO to increase the net worth of your current subscribers which'll boost your earnings.
If you aren't getting any cash-flow from your subscribers then you should check this out.
Highly recommended WSO.

Your list building course was a great, Trevor. And you cut to the chase and gave us the straight goods of what has worked for you as you've successfully built your own list. I know the bonus content here will be of the same high quality. I recommend this to any of you who are ready to build your list so 'they' will come.
