Firstly, let me hand over to Tink to explain ...

Hi,

Tink Boord-Dill here. If you don't know me, I wrote two
Kindle related WSOs - A Guy's Guide to Writing Women's
Erotica and Tink's Guide to Writing Popular Fiction.

If you look up and to the left, you'll see this, WSO has
been posted by John Taylor, so… what am I doing here?

Well, there's an easy answer. More than a year and a half
ago, John and I teamed up as we began to explore the
opportunities offered by Kindle and self-publishing in
general.

We've been watching how things evolved and have been
brainstorming about how we could help other people as they
start writing FICTION.

At last, we have finally created a structure to help other
people on their Fiction Journey.

What we have created is a Fiction Mastermind. It is an
exclusive, Secret FaceBook group where we are sharing
information and helping motivated people start or progress
further as they learn to write, publish, and market fiction.

We are providing monthly webinars and reports, along with
valuable aids, such as my Scrivener Series Template and
video on how I use it.

Our first Webinar will be *How to Structure a Series*, which
is applicable for all popular genres except Romance. But,
don't worry! I also I explain the tweaks needed to make it
apply to Romance.

Information is no-holds barred...

We opened this first to the members on my list. Once we had
the Mastermind up and running, we asked those members for
suggestions and comments, and a pattern emerged. While the
Mastermind policy is clear - what is discussed in Mastermind
stays in Mastermind, I thought it would be useful to share
our members' thoughts in very general terms…

  • This mastermind is not for the uncommitted
  • Definitely for self-starters, not recommended for anyone
    who wants to be spoon-fed
  • Make it a goal of the group to be tightly focused around
serious efforts to get published regularly and a lot
  • This is NOT for you if you are only Outsourcing. If you
are ready to start writing your own, come on in and join us.
We will do what we can to help you maximize investment in
your outsourced stories and to help you make the transition
    to being an author.

If these comments sound like a Mastermind you'd be
interested in, I hope you'll join us.

While we are providing some hand-holding and, yes, butt
kicking as needed, this isn't for you if you're not willing
to make the commitment.

Fiction can be a gold mine for a committed writer, but it
all comes down to how much effort you are willing to make
and how much BIC time -- Butt in Chair Time, you are willing
to give.

This is not a get quick rich scheme. It is not for literary
writers. It is for folks who are writing popular fiction --
taking the time to analyze their sub-genres and then meeting
their readers' expectations.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY *POPULAR FICTION*?

When we say popular fiction, we are referring to genres like
romance, action, adventure, zombies, etc.

WHAT THIS IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR IS THE GENRE CALLED
LITERARY FICTION.

In popular fiction, the focus is on meeting the readers'
expectations. In literary fiction, the focus is on writing
what the writer wants to write without worrying about what
the readers want to read.

We are writing fiction to make money. Our focus is on
quality, but… we want to earn money. Preferably bucket
loads.

WHAT IF I HAVE OUTSOURCED STORIES BUT HAVEN'T YET STARTED
WRITING FICTION MYSELF?

Come on in and join us. We will do what we can to help you
maximize investment in your outsourced stories and to help
you make the transition into writing your own.

WILL INFORMATION HERE BE DIFFERENT FROM GOOD FICTION FAST
AND KINDLING FB GROUPS

Yes. The information here will be different from those
groups. I know that I share a lot over there and I will
continue to do so, but the fact of the matter is, there IS
information that I have been holding back. Now, I plan to
share it on our MM, which bring us back to... What is
discussed in Tink and John's MM, stays in T and J's MM.

It is a monthly membership, and of course, you are welcome
to leave at any time. However, I think you'll find that this
is such a valuable resource, you'll stay, write, and make
Fiction your success!

Thanks Tink!

So, to recap...

You'll get:

  • Membership of an exclusive Mastermind Group where you'll
get help, support, encouragement and lots of motivation to
build a successful Popular Fiction publishing business.
  • Monthly webinars during which we will discuss latest
strategies, tactics and trends as well as providing the
opportunity for participants to ask questions. (Watch out
for some great guest speakers too!)
  • Access to a "library" of reports, checklists, templates
and worksheets that will help you to improve your genre
    selection, writing, character development, plotting,
    publishing and marketing.
  • Several of Tink's products that have been previously
    sold as Warrior Special Offers.

Let me share a secret... It has literally taken me months to
persuade Tink to agree to this! If you know Tink at all,
you'll know that her main priority is "Butt In Chair". So
this is a golden opportunity.

Tink and I have been friends for longer than I care to
mention and I know from personal experience... she knows her
stuff and she walks the talk. Not only that but she's a
straight talker.

I value Tink's advice and I strongly recommend you join this
fantastic new group...

And your next step, to take advantage of the special WSO
subscription at only $47, is simply to sign up here...

[CLOSED]

OR...

Get Two Months Free! Click here now to take advantage of our
Special annual plan and get two months free...

[CLOSED]

Both Tink & I very much look forward to masterminding with
you.

John
P.S. Remember, this is an exclusive Mastermind membership
and we will close this WSO as soon as we reach the maximum
number of members.

Please Note:
Because of the high value of the exclusive content, and the
fact that you will get immediate access to literally everything
inside the members area, we have a policy of no refunds.

We're focussing on Popular Fiction and that is primarily aimed at
adult markets rather than markets for children's books. However,
if you are writing adventure stories for children, then a lot of our
discussions will be relevant.

Also, will the webinars be recorded, as I'm in the UK and usually webinars tend to start in the early hours for us!! Many thanks!
I'm based in the UK too, so I know how frustrating it can be when
webinars are run at inconvenient times! So, yes... we will be recording
all our webinars to ensure they are available to all our mastermind
members.

Thanks

Yes, that would be appropriate, although most of our members happen to be writing popular fiction, such as Romance and Cozy Mysteries and Thrillers...

John is in the UK so we are still negotiating WHEN they'll take place, but either way, they'll be recorded, and have presentations and pdfs as appropriate

Fiction Food for Thought... Series

I've started working on the How to Structure a Series webinar...

I listed the Series that I read or have read... They fell into seven broad categories:

Romance, Romantic Suspense, and Romantic Erotica
Historical Romance
Space Opera
Urban Fantasy and Paranormal
Paranormal Romance
Action Adventure/Thrillers
Police Procedurals

Under those categories, I listed the series that I have read personally. In most cases I have read most, if not all, of the books. Two of the series have over 20 books in them.

And you know what? I listed FORTY different series. And I am SURE that I've missed some.

As I thought about things, I realized that these days I rarely purchase standalone books. I was talking with my crit partner about this and her buying habits are the same. We like to get to know a world, and we like to get to know the characters within that world.

In popular fiction, series can be moneymaking machines... If you are meeting the readers expectations.

In addition, in fiction, you don't need to update a book every time Google sneezes...

Just sayin' ;-)

Note, for this post, series and serials are two different beasts.

Taking a few moments to say...if you're serious about writing quality fiction and are ready to take it to the next level, you need to be in this mastermind.

Its like having two gurus in the room with you answering any question you might have on writing fiction hands on! Heck, Tink just saved me from myself the other day when we were chatting about a possible sub-genre I was interested in developing a series in. She brought up points I'd even not considered, then suggested a way to take it if I really wanted to do it anyway. Thanks for saving me those legal fees Tink!

Tink and John are ramping it up, adding more resources and info all the time. Granted, there are a couple other awesome fb groups in which I am a member, and I value those memberships highly. This one has added that extra oomph, that piece of the puzzle I needed to make it all click.

This is going to be big.

Now, back to bic before one of them asks me how much writing I've got done today since I'm obviously not working and reading wf instead. I'll log off now Tink, I swear...

Hmmmmm. Worksheets or Reports from my Guys Guide to Writing Women's Erotica and my Tink's Guide to Writing Popular Fiction?

To be honest, I hadn't thought about it, and a lot of our Mastermind members found me by way of my WSOs.

We already have our first report in the membership and I'm working on the How to Structure a Series webinar today and this weekend. ;-)

Members have an exclusive MM version of my Scrivener Series template, a 48 minute video on how it works and a transcript.

If you are asking if there's more to the Mastermind than my previous WSOs? Yes, there's a lot more ;-)

If I have misunderstood your question, let me know. I am happy to answer any of your questions ;-)

To me, including the two inexpensive WSOs in your $444-a-year mastermind membership ($37-a-month subscription) would be a good sign of your commitment not to withhold value from your subscribers. I know you said you haven't thought about this, but why would you withhold them from people you're trying to help?

Clearly this is Tink's call. However, I personally don't
think it would be fair on those of Tink's customers
who have paid for those products AND who have also
joined our mastermind group.

Hi ihelfman --

I am sorry that we seem to be talking at cross purposes. Not sure quite how you jumped to the conclusion that I am withholding?

Right now, the majority of our members signed up from my Guys Guide list and my Tink's Guide list, so they already have one or both reports. ;-)

In my mind, to include the reports that they already have already paid for would seem be padding the MM content and possibly shortchanging them.

Certainly, if I have a member who needs the information from one of the reports but does not own said document, I'll consider the best, most fair way to handle the situation. ;-)

At this point, John and I are intent on providing information that isn't available elsewhere, either from us or from other sources.

My focus is on producing fresh, valuable, and exclusive content for our members. Needless to say, I certainly don't want to seem that I am not committed to providing extreme value for our members.

I do appreciate you bringing this possible issue to my attention.

And, by all means keep the questions coming. I will answer them to the best of my ability. I find that often if one person has questions, there are many others with the same concerns.

Best wishes for your fiction writing future.

ihelfman,

If there's one thing I can see already (not knowing Tink from any of her previous products) is that holding back is not something she does.

The questions answered so far have been done in a depth I've rarely seen elsewhere.

If Tink and John don't deliver the value on a month by month basis then folks won't continue to subscribe. I doubt getting access to a couple of old inexpensive products that could be downloaded on day one would really add that much value.

If you have been fence-sitting over the Tink and John Mastermind, we've just scheduled the first webinar. It will take place this week.

ANNOUNCEMENT - PROCESS Webinar

John and I just finished a planning call. We've decided to slip in a *test* webinar so we can get comfortable with the GoToMeeting software.

This Webinar will cover the writing process with Q and A.

When I taught design, I discovered that watching someone go thru the *PROCESS* was extremely helpful, even for people who took a different approach. For example -- John is more of a pantser and I'm an uber-planner.

Anyway, I've decided to let the MM follow me as I work on Book 5 in the current series. This book is being a PITA. I've started it twice already and will be starting it a third time.

Part of why I want to do this is to show that YES, Creativity can be learned, but it still might not be easy... ;-)

Above and beyond getting the darn thing written, I have strong plans for what I want to accomplish --

1) I plan to use a mind map to lay it out and work on plot... I think that this may be a good method for me, so the sooner I start developing it as a tool, the better.

2) I plan to do an extensive outline -- and not lose focus on that halfway thru (a bad habit I've been sliding into)

3) I plan to push my daily writing limits on a consistent basis

4) I plan to continue developing my Dragon skills...

In this webinar, I'll be taking you thru the planning I've done for the Series itself along with details about this book and its issues. You'll also get a chance to see my Scrivener project in all its glory. <snicker>

I promised no-hold barred, and here is an example of what I meant. ;-)

Since I am going to be so transparent about this series and book, I want to take the time to remind you that yes, this IS covered under the *What is discussed in Tink and John's MM, stays in T and J's MM* policy.

The webinar session will be recorded. ;-)

It is scheduled for this Thursday, Sept 19 at 7PM Eastern Daylight Time. It will probably go about an hour, depending... It starts at midnight John's time, so we'll see how long he can stay, bless his heart.

Butt in Chair and Happy Writing to you!

Tink

PS - The Series Structure webinar will happen in a couple of weeks, so don't panic. I'm working on it ;-)

I just wanted to tell people that I have posted the introductory material for the PROCESS Webinar on our Facebook group.

It's a three page outline explaining the structure of the series in question and how that pertains to the introduction of the new pen name.

It also explains the decisions that I made as I planned out the new series and how I see the series progressing.

I have included precis of the plots for the first eight books, along with details about the requirements from the chosen subgenre.

John and I promised no holds barred and we are delivering it. This information will only be released for our mastermind members.

While the webinar will be recorded, if you want to hear it live and be able to ask questions, you need to join us today or tomorrow so we have time to set things up.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Wednesday Night UPDATE

I am currently working on my notes for this webinar. If you join us by tomorrow morning, we can probably get you into the group in time for you to participate...

Just sayin' ;-)

I bought both those products and joined the mastermind at $37 a month. My question to you is why don't you show your commitment to your writing by buying both those products? Unless you are really on a tight budget, $37 per month is little for the value we've already received in this group.

I just got off the webinar by Tink on writing a series. 90 minutes of packed information and this was just a trial run. Wow! on the info. I've been in the group for about a month. For $37 I received a private skyp session with Tink cuz she wanted to help me and then this webinar. Where can you get such value. I am sooooo impressed and marvel at the amazing deal. Thanks so much, Tink and John!

ANNOUNCEMENT - Our Informal Mastermind Q and A webinar was a resounding success!

UPDATE - Sept 29

We have added a Weekly Accountability element to our membership. Those interested in a Daily Accountability will be added to my Accountability Group which is a mix of MM members and Kindling members.

John and I would like to thank all of the wonderful and courageous mastermind members who joined when this was brand-new.

We have now had our first TWO webinars -- which I'm happy to say were a great success -- we have multiple resources added in the form of reports, templates, and other videos, and we are continually working on adding materials.

I'm currently working on the next planned webinar -- Series Structure for Popular Fiction and we will be scheduling it shortly.

Discussion is informative, thought-provoking and intelligent. John and I are enjoying the interaction with our members, and I am pleased at the positive response we're getting.

If you have been waffling about whether or not to join us or waiting to see how things would unfold, now might be the time to invest in your fiction writing future.

Tink I am interested - just taking a five minute break from work at the moment and saw this, don't have much time to read it all, so forgive me if I am asking something that has already been mentioned - is this an ongoing project or for a fixed term?
Thanks, and best of luck with it!
Dave

Hi Dave,

The mastermind is an ongoing project. Our aim is to
help and support fellow authors to build long term
publishing businesses.

Thanks

John

Hi Dave -

Thanks for asking. John beat me to it. I was working on a scene - my intrepid heroine just took out a gunman with an aging Corolla... so I didn't have email open. LOL

As John said, we see this as an ongoing project... We also expect that it will evolve as needed to meet the needs of our members ;-)

As we all know, self-pubbing is going thru major growing pains with no expectation that things will be settling down in the near future.

To be successful authors, we need to keep up-to-date as things change, develop our fiction skills, and utilize our time and resources as effectively as possible.

John and I were already working together, doing this for each other. Now we have opened it up to a limited number of others.

We see this as an opportunity to work with other motivated authors, working together ethically to build our individual businesses...

Most of our members are motivated self-starters but I'm happy to give folks an occasional kick, when needed ;-)

If you think this may be for you, we'd love to have you join us.

If you haven't joined this group yet, drop everything and jump on board.

I signed up a week ago, and in that time I have picked up enough ideas and information to cover the subscription costs many times over. One tip has greatly increased my productivity as a writer. Another has helped me to organize my books much more effectively. And as a direct result of this week's webinar, I have had an inspired idea for a 15-book series that I am very excited to get started on.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to make money by self publishing fiction. Go for it!

I've just had my first months subscription with the mastermind and I'm very pleased that I decided to join.

Tink and John are both very active in the private facebook group and they have already done three really informative webinars so far in this first month. In fact I would have paid much more for the information in the latest webinar on its own.

Several documents have been uploaded to the files section and a great deal of information has been posted in the mastermind already. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to take their self publishing career to a whole new level.

I've never put much research into making money using kindle, but I have tons of ideas for books and series' to write about.

What is the process for monetizing your kindle book?
Write -> Publish -> Profit?
Or is there marketing involved?

Also, is your success relative to how much effort you put into writing your book? Or can you have the best series in the world, but it flops because not every release is a winner?

Write good fiction, meet the readers expectations, rinse and repeat...

Fiction isn't easy and it does take time, as well as effort, but it has the potential to be more evergreen than much of non-fiction topics and a larger earner over the long run.

Certainly, there is an element of luck and some promotion involved, but most of it is writing well, creating a front list, and meeting the readers expectations.

We focus on BIC - Butt in chair ;-) NOT outsourcing

While it is possible to make money without "marketing", it
is much more likely if you put some effort into promoting
your book.

The typical book over doesn't like the hard sell, they much
prefer to learn about new books and authors through a
recommendation from a trusted source. So it's important to
spend time engaging with your target audience in the right
places... that is... where they hang out.

The obvious places are Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads. Of
course there are many other places. Effective Book Promotion
is an upcoming topic within the mastermind group.
