Lightbulb I made a massive mistake... but that's good news for you! (PHP, mySQL, XHTML, CSS etc)

I made a massive mistake...
but that's good news for you!

Hi - I'm Jon Parker

I'm a website designer/developer and an aspiring entrepreneur from Brighton in England.
I graduated with a BSc. (Hons) degree in eCommerce and after working for a year as a developer at a large software development company, I quit the rat race to chase the dream of a business of my own.

My massive mistake...

After several months of development work, my online business GiveMeTickets.co.uk (E-Tickets for Club Nights and Events | GiveMeTickets.co.uk) is functionally well on it's way to becoming the most fully-featured e-Ticketing website in the UK.

I've just got one *huge* problem, and that's a total lack of customers.

It's a complete mystery to me and my girlfriend Jo (who helps me run the site) why no one will list their events on my site - It doesn't event cost them a penny.

There is a huge market for the service and those people who use the site regularly love it.

If only my market research had been more thorough, I might have seen this problem coming.

The good news for you...

The good news for you though is that I've now run out of money and I'm having to offer my services on a freelance basis to other people before the bank starts calling me.

Now I'd highly recommend that you don't hire me to do your market research, but I've been a web designer/developer now for several years and have a great deal of experience, especially with PHP and mySQL.

So what can I do...

This is a hard questions, as it would probably be easier to tell you what I *can't* do but my previous work has included the following:

- XHTML/CSS Design (via Photoshop)
- Paypal IPN integration for customer- and client-facing payment systems
- PHP Web application development with CodeIgniter PHP framework (including account registration/event management and eCommerce product management)
- mySQL relational database design
- On-site Search Engine Optimisation
- mySQL replication and backup systems
- Amazon S3 automated second-site backups
- User-interface funkyness through jQuery (animation and AJAX/AJAJ) and Google Charts API
- Google Checkout integration
- Custom Shopping-cart development
- On-site Search Engine Optimisation
- Wordpress installation
- Wordpress theme customisation
- Aweber integration

I can, of course, provide examples of the above so if you'd like to see anything in the flesh, please get in contact with me.

How much will it cost?

I will give you a quote for each job that I do but it will be based on a rate of £25/hour

I consider this to be incredibly good value (less than half the market rate) and I can only justify this for two reasons:
1) I will be in Bali (still working as normal) until 4th November where the cost of living is low
2) When back in England after November 4th, I'll be living at home again to start with (fewer living expenses)

Questions?

If there is anything I've not covered, then please get in contact with me

I' look forward to hearing from you soon

Jon

Hi again guys

Just wanted to say thanks for all bearing me in mind for your projects and let you know that I've just taken a full-time contract on for the next 6 months so won't be available to work on any more projects.

Thanks

Jon
