This is my first time offering this service though I am not new to Wordpress.

I chose those plugins based on the usefulness and popularity of those plugins. Some of them I use personally.

Having said that, you can replace those plugins with other plugins of your choice if you prefer... as long as the number plugins remains the same.

He chose those plugins because there badass! All-in-One Seo pack is just that, a killer way to SEO your wordpress site,as you may or may not know WP is great on search engines eyes but they do need to be tweaked from an SEO standpoint,.
Sitemap is a cool easy generator!
Sociable adds Social media integration.
WP Backups is good to have. I erased a blog before and had to rebuild from the start!
and it goes on and on.. OP selected I think a nice group of plugins to get anyones blogs started in the right direction,.
