Next time I will be writing my own posts--nothing wrong with the articles provided--just want to save the $5...

The biggest rule of thumb with linking is consistency. You need to add links every 4-8 weeks. Even if the links are lower PR, you need to show the Search engines that you are a legit source of info. You cant just make a site, do one set of links, and then hope to get visits forever. Make a site, link it out, and then continue to give it links.

For 15 bucks, this is a great way to keep the link flow on your site(s)
