UPDATE: Due to my main business - IdentityCloaker.com which needs more and more of my time, for the time being my offer is "on hold".

Dear warriors,

My name is Tomas France and I have been in the IT/computer industry for a long time, including customer support and IT security. And because Christmas is approaching, I have come to the conclusion I could use some extra change... And beside, it's always a good idea to practise the skills.

Here is a short overview of the type of work I can do for you:

* Script installation (PHP and Perl)
* PHP script bug fixing and modification
* Linux server maintenance, securing and consultation
* Webhosting setup and consultation
* Proxy server (PHP web proxy, Squid) and VPN installation and setup
* General IT consultation
* ...and other IT related work, including some very special work

Why you should choose me:

* I am not an unreliable teenager, I am 30
* I have been working with computers since I was 9
* I have professional IT experience since 1998
* I can do very technical IT tasks, way beyond standard webmaster type of work
* If I fail to do the work, you don't pay me
* I can communicate in English with no problem
* I am a nice guy

What are the prices:

* Standard PHP scripts installation: $25
* More complex PHP or Perl scripts installation: $35
* Current standard hourly rate: $35 (roughly, can be discussed)
* Other type of work will require custom pricing

Simple terms:

You describe what you need me to do, I will tell you how much I will do it for. You pay via PayPal when the job is done. If I cannot do the job, you do not pay me. You pay only the amount we agree on, no price increase without your prior approval. Fair?

I should also mention specifically one type of work I can do. I can transfer webhosting accounts from one server to another. In some situations, this is an easy process.

But in some other situations, this is a very complex process requiring several hours of work. I can also help with moving the data from one VPS/dedicated server to another, or from shared/reseller hosting account to a VPS/dedicated server, registering private DNS and changing the records at your domain name registrar if needed.

I thought I would mention this because many people want to change their webhost but do not do it in the end because they are afraid of the transfer. Yes, it's tricky. But I can help with that

Great work ... my php files took time to sort but Tomas solved them all .... (and without complaint about the lateness of the time). His fee for his time and expertise was very reasonable.

This was the situation Tomas handled for me.

I needed to have a number of accounts moved from Bluehost to a dedicated server and Tomas was able to get this done without SSH access to Bluehost, a potentially tricky situation and not the best way.

During the move, my dedicated server kept crashing when he was working through WHM but did not crash when using SSH and he alerted me to a possible memory module issue after running some tests.

My dedicated host swapped out the memory and things have been running smoothly on all sites for a couple weeks now.

He also handled setting up the firewall I chose and a few other background things that I might have been able to figure out in a year or twenty.

FWIW, I have "known" Tomas from around the net for over 5 years and have always found him to be very helpful and knowledgeable.

His rates were reasonable and he kept me in the loop during the whole process above.

That depends on how simple it is but I usually charge $25 for relatively simple tasks (including standard PHP script installations) that take me less than an hour. If it's very simple (like a few minutes of work), I can do it in exchange for a testimonial or something like that.

sunconsultancy: The description would be very long as there are many types of proxy servers serving different purposes. Take a look at Proxy server - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Generally, it's software installed on a server that acts as the middle-man when you surf the Internet. Instead of connecting to the destination server/website directly, you connect to the proxy server which then connects to the destination server/website instead of you and forwards the response back to you.

The destination server/website does not know about you (in the case of anonymous proxy servers) because it has always been communicating with the middle-man only. The whole process takes place in the background (not with web proxies) and for you there is generally no difference in your web surfing habits.

Some proxy servers have different purposes though, such as caching proxies. But the explanation would have to be way too technical for most of the WF audience.
