You can really start to see the value of unique content when Google begins helping you up the rankings. Sites that have videos, PDF's etc. are always a winner with Google, and they are happy to offer these media rich pages to their searchers.

I had a few emails/PMs asking about downloadable content. We add files such as PDFs or slideshows even... why? Because Google loves this stuff. Have you ever been searching for a review on a product - like a nail gun for example - and you start seeing PDF's in the top 5 results

? Well, this is typical of Google wanting to please their customers. If your site has files such as this, then you must be an authority of some description, right? The PDF needs to reflect the content of your site, and it shows Google that you offer your readers a little more than just text on a screen.

How about videos? Well Youtube and Google - they are one and the same now. For some reason, they give a little extra oomph to websites that contain Youtube clips. Not only is it great content, but it is diverse enough to retain your visitors for longer.
