Referring to my image usages, I think you've got a great point Wil.. most of the images I use within my graphics come from clients (they get 'em from istockphoto/dreamstime etc). Apart from that, I use sxc.hu mostly for my images.. and on the site its clearly mentioned that the images on there can be used for commcercial designs.. heres a part from their site:

"Browse through the categories of our huge gallery containing over 350.000 quality stock photos by more than 30.000 photographers! Need a wallpaper for your desktop or illustration for your blog? Need a pic for your commercial website design? Looking for inspiration? Have a look around."

Again, you've raised a great point ! and its being ignored by most of the so-called designers.. which ends up the client into copyright issues.

Attention: Anyone Who is Looking for Quality Graphics, Quick Turnaround and a Designer Who Can Take a Small Idea (I was clueless!!) and Deliver an Original, Azz-Kicking Design...

Okay Warriors...I just had the best experience working with aLee! I'm finishing up an eBook and needed quality graphics. I didn't want to mess around with any Mickey Mouse, whiny designer who may not want to deal with my extreme pickiness.

aLee took on my project and got started with very little guidance. All I said was here's the title of my eBook, here's the target market and here's the colors I like.

A few days later, he sent me the graphics package and I was blown away. He thought of a way to convey what the book is all about...but in pictures (which is weird to me because I'm a writer and I'm all about the copy but once I saw the design...I "got" it).

Throughout the process, aLee was very responsive and never complained when I kept having him change a particular font back and forth a few times.

Bottom-line is that aLee OVER delivered!

So if you're looking for an awesome graphic designer, you can't go wrong with aLee!

My business partner and I hired aLee to produced a logo for our new business venture. We had some preconceived notions about what we thought it should look like, but we both appreciate the creative nature of artists, so we only gave aLee the name of the business, the tagline for the business, and a brief description of what the business did. We didn't want to limit the creativity of the design team by giving them our ideas. We figured we'd end up giving those ideas to them to get our final logo graphic.

WOW!!! Put our ideas back in the drawer. aLee's team returned about ten or twelve designs to us in about 24 to 48 hours. We had ideas that we hadn't even considered. From those designs, two of them stood out. Of course, I liked one (along with my wife and daughter, and one of my business partner's daughters). My business partner, his wife, and two of his other daughters liked the other design.

From there, we modified each of the designs multiple times, finally changing the color on the one that they liked and suddenly, we had a problem - we all liked both designs. I sent the two designs out to several Warriors that I've gotten to know, as well as several business people whose opinions we value, and we received a lot of good feedback. The GM of the radio station that I work with sometimes gave us the best feedback that finalized our decision. I gave aLee the decision on Friday morning about 9AM and by 2:30 PM he was emailing me with all the final information and files.

aLee is a wonderful personality to work with and he delivers an excellent product in the end. From my lengthy email, you can see that I strongly recommend that you do not limit his creativity based upon what you may think you want. Pay him for a full vector graphic so that you can use it in multiple applications and tap into the creativity of his team. The results will be something that you will be proud to show your friends.

As we continue to work with local business owners, aLee is my only source for graphics work. Keep up the great work aLee and we'll be talking soon.
