SSL Questions for You...

1. Does your shared SSL system work with Facebook apps? I have noticed that Facebook has started blocking a lot of shared SSL certs, like those used on many hostgator accounts and several others. It seems if one person abuses the system, it ruins it for everyone.

So, does your currently work with Facebook? And what, if any, system do you have in place to ensure that they will continue to and prevent abuse?

2. If I wanted a dedicated IP and a private SSL, how do I install the certificate? Am I able to install the private certificate myself? If not, what information would you need to install it, and what is the cost for that service?

My .02 on this hosting - first a little background. I have hosted sites on about a dozen different hosting companies dating back to 1997 and often run my own server depending on my needs.

I purchased this hosting for non-critical sites but even those sites should be up and operating without a bunch of hassle. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case.

The server I'm on is easily the slowest hosting account I've ever used but for the price I'm not terribly displeased with that.


On the other hand, my sites have been unreachable and/or down 6 times in the last month. Not an acceptable level for me even for non-critical sites but it could be acceptable for some.

My suggestion would be - don't put any important site (your business, your money sites, etc) on this hosting plan.

You should be able to log into cpanel with the temporary domain provided. If you have having problems, please visit our live chat at Hostdeal or email support@email.com. Emailing will open a support ticket and then you will get a response with a ticket id. If you don't get this response, then either we didn't get your ticket or our response is in your spam folder...

This would depend on what server your account is on. You can visit live chat and they will let you know, or you can ask the support team to resend your welcome message; the welcome message has your domains nameservers.

1 - We make no guarantees that our shared SSL will work with Facebook apps. We specifically recommend against it.

2 - You would need to provide all of the cert information to our technical support team for installation. They will install the cert for free. You will need to purchase a dedicated IP for $30.00/year or $3.00/mo.

Hi, the meaning of 10/unlimited domains means as add-on domains?
As I have just bought 5 domains, does that mean I can host it as:-

I have hosting with 5 different companies; this is the least expensive.

My ONLY gripe is that there is no phone support...

With that being said, I have only had a few minor issues and ALL were quickly resolved using the live chat.

I am in the process of ordering another account with them as we speak.

The Uncertainty of Unlimited Hosting Offers.

I got it about a week ago, things did not look good at first, had a couple of problems, including a weird 406 Not Acceptable error, which the off-shore help people did address in short order.

Load times were glacieric, my bare bones wordpress home pages took 45 seconds to load, other sites I identified as being on the same server were taking 70-80 seconds to load, a large image file transfer indicated the transfer data rate was 9.6 k/sec.

I just double checked it after ignoring things for a few days, load times are now quite respectable, those 70 and 80 second sites now load in 9 and 14 seconds, my WP sites 6 and 10 seconds, the download rate is now more like 153k/sec, hopefully there was one resource hogging warez sort of site that is now gone.

There are actually a few more sites on the server since the troubling performance, about 1,037 domains, not uncommon for a shared host.

Today it looks like a bargain at $1 a month, for that price it's not reasonable to expect stellar performance all the time.

Before buying, you might check the performance of these sites that appear to be on that hosting service:

Hi Richard - I appreciate the offer but it happens often so there is no reason to spend any of your time looking into this. I'm moving my sites elsewhere in the next week. Between not being able to reach the sites and the slow load times, I just find it all not worth the savings.

After 2 weeks have to say...stay away from this host...soooooo slow everything takes time to load even cached pages...images, adsense blocks,facebook like buttons...just unacceptable...this is expected from a cheap host...unfortunately it seems you can't get something good for low....everything is worth its price

I was quite impressed how you were going about on this thread + good offer you put it on the table. With 100+ website under the belt, I am always looking for good offer and took this bate.

Everything was good and now since month or so, the server goes down a dozen times in a week and even my thin sites crawl, making it impossible to work. To top it all, the support guys lie take us as a fool. Our own monitoring plus constant messages in Google Webmaster tools IMO are more reliable than what your support says.

I have time again told the support that I was willing to look at upgrade or move to a different server. The question is never answered.

I am not here to ask for refund, just want to place it on the record low cost is no excuse for basic service. Most times the support responds promptly, however misleading information and temporary solutions don't work for us.

Once again do let me know if there is a path to upgrade where I can get better service otherwise I have no choice but to call it a day.

I just wanted to write something good about this host. Hostdeal.com host some of my sites and the service I have received has been excellent. I had a few initial problems and feared the worst but everything was taken care of once I submitted a ticket. Do not e-mail them as I never received a response through mine just submit a ticket through their helpdesk, I received a reply almost instantly.

1 - Please don't hijack my sales thread with your "bold" / "bright red" complaints.

Ok,

I hunted down your account and found out the following:

1 - We have a ticket from you (May 18/19) where you kept locking yourself out of cPanel and the server because you we using the wrong username / password. We have no other support requests from you in over 100 days.

2 - On that ticket our support team replied 11 times in a day-and-a-half, whitelisting your IP address 3 times.

3 - We're happy that you have decided to move on, since statements such as this "Support does answer your emails, but if downtime tends to work itself out in this fashion, then it is not a really, really good thing. Something is down for the count and it took my website with it" are blatant lies.

- There was no downtime as explained,
- It didn't "work itself out", our support team whitelisted your IP address,
- Nothing is "down for the count", with the exception of your security on our server - and we explained multiple times that we could get to your website.

We apologize if our server security is to strict for you, but we have hundreds of clients on that server that appreciate it. If you continually fail to login to cpanel, we're going to lock you out of the server and that's the end of the story.

This hosting is ridiculously S-L-O-W...My clients complaints are coming through thick and fast.

Thought I could use this hosting to host a few client sites that are 3-4 pages deep...more like business card pages. Very simple but even that is too much to ask I guess.

I have another host which is only a little more expensive than these guys but way more reliable. Avoid.

This happens to me everytime I try to login to the cpanel I get timed out because failed login attempts . I use lastpass and my login info is correct every time I try to access my cpanel I have to contact support to have the server unlocked so I can get to my cpanel.
