Would like feedback on my site...

Since this is the design section, I would like for some of you to click through my site and make suggestions on anything you might change or anything you see that could be added.

The link in my sig is to the opt-in page and I cant post an actual link here but it is

internethotpicks .com/ index3.html

Any feedback would be appreciated. I am about to revamp the site itself and could use some suggestions.

Thanks

Well it looks ok but not really modern or web 2.0ish to be honest. The black background is also a little harsh, making it look a little like a warez site.

    check your site -

    Pros
    - cool color scheme - smart that you have the text over white {sort of Halloween like though - doesn't screem "MAKE MONEY"}
    - nice concept - like the fire effect but it's a little too much on every main page header
    - I like the different types of products you have for sale - you may want to provide more content to explain the products.

    Cons
    - the logo is too hard to read - i would either lighten it up or change
    - too many different sizes of text on the different pages.

I'll second that, add triple underlines, and highlight it in day-glo orange.

If you want to have any hope of anyone ever buying the products you're advertising, you have to pre-sell them with concrete benefits and stories about how they have helped you to succeed.

I'm going to be very direct here. I hope you don't mind. The "make money" niche is really overcrowded. It's very hard to break into it. And you're not going to succeed in it by selling the same stuff as everyone else.

You promise on your main page:
The items on this page are ALL items that I myself have used to make a living from the comfort of my own home. There is nothing here that has been randomly selected from some long list of items somewhere.
Sorry, but you're going to have to work much harder to make me believe that statement. Because in fact your other pages look exactly like random selections of stale products. For each product you list, you'll have to justify why you're recommending it.

And by the way, it's "mother lode" not "mother load."

      I hope this helps.

Honesty..... I like it. In fact, those sound like some of the key things I was looking at myself.

It has been doing pretty well as far as sells, so I was ok.... some of it is just over-crowded and you are right, there just isn't enough info to go with some of the products.

Mother LODE - check lol got it.... typos are a B**** sometimes.

Again, thanks for your suggestions and feedback. I am taking it all in and I am doing the revamp over the coming days. There are a lot of things I want to take out and even more content I need to add.

Thanks again to all, and keep it coming.

Thanks, those were some of the things I was taking into consideration for the revamp of the site. I appreciate your comments.

I look forward to getting more feedback and I will post here after I have made changes to see what everyone thinks.

    Thanks again.

I really like the orange and white mix of colors, but the black and the flames...

I know flames are REALLY hard to work with, there could be a lot more potential, and I may be able to help with those. (PM if interested)

The black brings down the whole design. Maybe a lighter orange. Not too light, because then it distracts your eyes from the site.
Maybe, if you used the light orange background, you could use that same color to replace the white in your main content background too. As long as you leave the wrapping box around it.

The DHTML is nice for the links, but you have everything else in a small box, why is the navigation hanging out free? They kind of look like they're just sitting there and just run off the page.

In my opinion, the amount of information that's on the front page is just fine for me. I don't like reading websites that you have to continue scrolling down just to read the next paragraph.

Maybe you could add some creative linebreaks in there too? Between the larger bits of information. I.E., right after you have "So, that's enough about me..." you can add a skinny black linebreak that has wads of cash here and there, or even just one wad of cash directly in the middle.

Your Twitter link also needs to be noticed! I almost didn't see it! Maybe a call-to-action button. I can help with that too. (again, PM if interested)

There's my 2 cents. I don't mean to offend or anything, just direct criticism to help you out some.

    Hi Amanda,

Here's my take, and forgive my rather sweeping suggestions. I'm thinking you can take well-intentioned feedback.

The black background is hard on the eyes. Makes me want to hit the back button.

I'd go for a clearer headline + subhead combo up top. Consider using a sans-serif font.

    Maybe something like...

"Who Else Wants to Earn XXX,XXX.XX a Year From Your Very Own Internet Business and Never Have to Punch a Timeclock Again?"

I'll Show You the Very Same Simple, Proven, Step-By-Step Methods I've Used to Get Out of the Rat Race and Live the Life I've Always Dreamed of... AND NOW YOU CAN TOO!

That's just off the top of my head using the old 'Who else wants...' formula. I'm sure you can come up with something that works better or maybe some other hook to use.

And then of course there's the text.

To be honest, I'd completely re-write it. It doesn't grab me and make me desperate to either keep reading or click an link (or click 'Buy Now!' or whatever), which is what good copy should do.

Make crazy-sounding but verifiable claims about what you're going to do for the folks. Tell your succinct success story. Back up your claims with proof of your own success. Testimonial for somebody else who bought from you and had success, with a pic of them if possible, in a yellow filled text box (or perhaps in a side-bar).

And have you thought about bundling your offers into a package and selling them together via a long-form sales page (i.e. a single page site, not counting landing, squeeze and shopping cart pages?) rather than using the more traditional site structure you're using now?

I expect that might bring in some big conversion bumps with people buying multiple products if you structure the offer right.

And put something at the bottom of the copy to grab people who just scroll down to read the bottom line. A quick summary , then tell them what you want them to do.

And of course, split-test to see what does what over what.

    I hope that's helpful, Amanda!

    Be Well,

    Michael Perez

For a Squeeze page, you do not need to have fancy pics, what you need are compelling headings and words to take action.

I do not see that in your squeeze page.

Oh my I'm not a fan on the color scheme, you want to gain people's trust right, nice natural colors like blue or green convey that.

This site here has all the things you need: makemoneyreviews.co.uk

Blue background, reviews on products, pictures of money and happy people, text that sells the products etc.

You also have two description and keywords tags on your main page.

Best thing is copy the top ranking sites!

        Good luck

To be perfectly honest I did not like your site. I don't like the background colors or the orange. Not much personality. It looks old. Also, even if I wanted to enter my info asking for the first name is enough. Remember, some people are not comfortable giving you their full names. They want a relationship before they give you all their info and your site builds no relationship.

      Hey Amanda,

I have taken a look at your site. The twitter mind control is DARK and looks very uninviting.

Underneath the icons to connect and network with you is a huge blank space where everything else looked over crowded. ?? Could you possibly balance eveything up.

      Hope this helps.

      10/10 on asking for feedback.

      I wish you every success.

I was trying the wrong link hehehe

I like the template etc. but the background is way too dark for me. Basically, I like greys but the BG could be improved, maybe experiment with some lighter BGs.

  • are you getting the hint here? black backgrounds are just a no no for marketing.
they work just fine for clan sites, gamer sites, warez sites etc.
sites that are all black are just not professional.
They are very hard to read, even with white text, especially for those of us that are
    older.
You will lose a lot of prospective customers instantly.

    luck,
