I'm a reasonably intelligent person.
I'm pretty logical.

So... why have I had to plow through 5-6 WP themes until I found one that follows any kind of LOGIC, in terms of getting it set up + customized.

Why does it not seem possible to have a WP theme that follows LOGIC and is pretty intuitive, when it comes to setting it all up?!?!

I mean, there seems to be NO logical interface. Complete mumbo jumbo.
I am NOT able to make them work -- even a little. CANNOT get past even the INITIAL spot. Just toss the theme, and try again with another theme.

Or is it just me?

What am I missing? Or am I really not the intelligent, logical person I thought I was?

PS: When I DO figure out PARTS of a new theme, it's only after trying 18-million things + wasting a LOT of time! And, when I do figure something out, it is CLEAR that the solution could NOT POSSIBLY have been found using LOGIC! Why is that? Why must it be so complicated + time-wasting + frustrating? WHY?!?

Not having a good day huh?

Is it the same problem your having with all theme's? What is not logical about them?

I know some are more customizable then others, is that the issue? I agree, some don't make sense.

For me, I use the customization that comes with the theme, from there I edit the CSS or edit/add php code for the rest. Not that I am a pro, just trial and error and using the search engines for help.

The way the theme's customization options function do not make any sense.
The programmers never seem to build things with this simple (OBVIOUS) question in mind...

"If someone tries to build a site using this theme, how would they LOGICALLY approach it?"

It's ALMOST as if they are programming the theme's features (+ how to make them work from the dashboard) with THIS question in mind: "How can we make the UI as DIFFICULT to understand, and CONVOLUTED, OBTUSE, COUNTERINTUITIVE, and ILLOGICAL, and annoying as possible."

By now, isn't anyone clever enough to design a theme that follows logic when making it work?

PS: and yes, it's pretty much every theme I've tried -- and, at this point, I've tried (+discarded) A LOT!

While I agree that getting a new theme means spending some time messing around with the interface, shortcodes, and options. Properly researching themes can help save a lot of time.

I always try to look at the documentation before I get a new theme. Most themes will have the documentation posted online. The more tutorial videos, photos, and step-by-step instructions the easier it is to familiarize yourself with the theme and make sure it's a good fit.
