I just published 2 tutorials on the subject of building decent looking navigation menus for Wordpress. Navigation has always been a weak spot of not only Wordpress but all other CMS as well.
With growing number of pages on our portals - ability to setup multilevel navigations - both vertical and horizontal is very important. It helps our visitors to quickly find what they want and it helps us to make money.

So here are results of my multiday effort to search, fix, polish, test and deliver perfect working horizontal and vertical menu on Wordpress.

The menus I came up with (both vertical and horizontal) are featuring the following:
  • Support for unlimited nesting levels
  • Support for any order of menu elements
  • Support for any Wordpress elements - pages, posts, categories, users, custom code snippets, etc.. - anything could be made as your menu item in any order at any level.
  • SEO friendly features - indexable by spiders
  • Support for all modern and crappy (you know which ones) browsers: MSIE 6,7, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Google Chrome
  • Gracefully downgradable for non-javascript browsers.
  • Scalable and configurable completely visually via NAVT plugin interface - no code editing needed
  • Full demo with source code, instructions and pictures is ready for both: vertical and horizontal samples.
