At a command prompt type - "ping www.yourdomainname.com"

    Alternatively, check your hosting/domain documentation.

No worries. You can verify it by typing the actual IP address into the browser's address bar.

Also, some hosts may prevent ping, so as already said, you really should check against documentation.

          Thanks Ramone_Johnny....it worked.

Now I'm wondering why my ip address is different for two sites on the same reseller hosting package.

That does work but I do want to add one caveat here. Most hosting sites, unless you specify otherwise use virtual hosting which means that your sites IP address is not static. It can and sometimes does change depending on the maintenance schedule of your hosting provider.

It costs more but if you absolutely need a static IP then you can get that from most hosts. About the only time you really need a static IP is if you are hosting your own security certificate on the site and the host companies know this so it is figured into the cost of configuring your site for the certificate. I personally cannot think of any reason why you would need a static IP other than that listed above.

That is my 2 cents for what its worth. Take care.

I'm using the SeoQuake plugin for FireFox, and there I can check for every website that I visit: Google rank and links, yahoo links, domain age, IP address, etc.
I can set up everything that I want to show when I'm visiting a website.

I recommend to try this great plugin.
