How to Get "Fluid" Images On WP

Hi everyone,

Am working on my first site using WP Total Theme.

I've found the easiest way to get great graphics on to my site is just upload them as images, so infographics.. sales copy etc is all a graphic file. The basic text boxes that came with the theme were very basic.

On a PC the site looks awesome.

But on a mobile device it looks messed up. Any theme widgets such as an icon box, text box, price box etc fit into the responsive design and get a screen space dedicated to their own.

But my cool images which I want to read just like a part of the website is too small to see on a mobile screen. I have done some research and seems to be because images are not "fluid".

Are there any plugins or other solutions to solve this?

I found this one https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fluid-images/ but seems out of date and unmaintained.

Please help!

Thanks

Tom

There's no tooth fairy, easter bunny or santa claus... and no such thing as "fluid images" either Tom it's your template or theme that controls image size - and there are usually a bunch of options for this in high-end WP themes - it's just a matter of spending the time to find it and / or experimenting w/ your theme to get the right look & feel - maybe you have it set on fluid & not responsive?

Fluid websites are built using percentages for widths. As a result, columns are relative to one another and the browser allowing it to scale up and down fluidly. Responsive websites are built on a fluid grid and use media queries to control the design and its content as it scales down or up with the browser or device.

If you still can't get it working - there are a ton of responsive themes here:

... and a bunch of 3rd party plugins to take it a step further:

Thanks very much! That's very interesting.

I think the issue was I had a graphic designer do a complicated image in photoshop and I thought an image is an image so they will all become responsive.

But in actual fact the image sent over would need the individual layers to be coded to be responsive to the theme so I have started looking at some high end templates that will do a good job if not totally bespoke

    Cheers

You can use a "real" mobile website builder. There are some offers in the WF. They also look good on desktop and then everything is "fluid".
