Best free wp theme for an authority site?

looking to build an authority site, but on a tight budget. is there a free theme out there that is comparable to genesis/thesis?

    I believe that a good business and site deserves a professional theme. Themes aren't exactly expensive, Avada, one of the best is only $50, and its the best 50$ i'v spent since I started creating websites too!

    Depending on your niche I would recommend the following themes for free to build a theme with:

    Dynamic News Lite

    Evolve

    Minamaze

    GeneratePress

    Accountancy

    ProfitMag (personal fav for free themes)

    Constructzine Lite (great for local projects)

    These would def be my top 7 free wordpress themes to utilize when building any new Authority / Brand in 2015

      Here, I would share my views with you, you may design your own theme using TemplateToaster as per your requirements. It gives satisfactory output to users and generate themes in just a few hours. I can say this because I have been using this software for a long time.

    Hi Blipblop. There are many free themes for Genesis. The Sample theme is the first one that comes to mind but there are many other free third party Genesis themes. I created a free Genesis theme myself; it's called Cauliflower and I give it away on my website.

    You also have Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Fourteen, Twenty Thirteen etc, which are all among the most well-made free themes available.

    Couldn't agree more about using genesis/studiopress themes and as many are free, they are child themes that run on the genesis framework and the framework is definitely not free.

    Magazine or news themes usually work well. When you type in "marketing themes" or "internet marketing themes" in the theme search they usually turn up with bad themes

    Free themes used for sports news sites are usually more advanced and look more professional.
