I gather most people outsource, i do too.

But I do like creating bits and bobs.

Im finding dreamweaver a little buggy on my mac and its a bit of a ball ache when you are not a pro.

Looking for a simple alternative, so reaching out to you guys to see what you use?

Cheers.

I don't use anything but Wordpress anymore, but I used to use XSitePro, Kompozer, and CoffeeCup

Me too.... Waiting on INSTABUILDER to be re-released later this month or early next. WP Profit Builder is something I may end up going with, but it's got mixed reviews.

I use WP Profit Builder and it works fantastic. I advise watching the tutorial videos rather than diving right into the software though. One wrong thing unchecked will make key things not work properly.

I'd never dream of looking at Dreamweaver, myself.

I won't even use WordPress because of all its disadvantages to me.

I like the site-builders at TypePad and Weebly. I wouldn't recommend TypePad hosting to people, these days, though. Weebly is a good host, and their site-builder is now also available in many other places.

I don't mind outsourcing simple HTML-based sites, as well, as long as I'll be able to update them sometimes, myself, without needing to outsource that too.

The more experience I have in internet marketing, and the bigger my business grows, the more convinced I become that "how websites are made" is actually a pretty unimportant consideration, in the overall scheme of things.

I hadn't heard of it, Carlo. (Haven't even seen the movie!).

A quick look at its home page suggests it wouldn't be relevant for my own needs at all: looks like it's designed mostly for sales/marketing sites? I'm an affiliate marketer, so I have no need at all for sales pages/sites etc.

Correct. It's for proper businesses, not affiliates. But it's a customised version of WordPress that solves all the problems you identified with WordPress, so I was curious to know your thoughts.

Well, I have some news for you, on that point: affiliate marketing businesses are "proper" businesses, too!

And unlike vendors/merchants, affiliates are able to build stable, asset-based, "proper" businesses which have a great deal of flexibility without being dependent for our incomes on the success, continuity and availability of any individual, specific product at all.

Wordpress for almost everything. Also use Microsoft Expression.

Used Dreamweaver, XsitePro, Komposer and a few other before but I like Wordpress the best.

And poof ... my post is gone.

Is there a rule against recommending what you use when it happens to be your own product? I don't mean to distract from your thread but I assume someone active in the discussion had part in removing my post and can lmk? If not, no biggy.

    Thanks,
    Chris

      Hi Chris,

Yeah, the mods must have determined that you broke the self-promotion rule.

      Cheers

Interesting. My bad. I guess I'll just leave with the last part of the post that said good luck with your search OP.

Thanks Don for the info ...

I too use WordPress framework with the Divi theme from Divi for you but still have Expression Web for times when I need to edit code. It is a free download now as Microsoft doesn't support it since they moved on to high a end suite. Of course, it won't work on your Mac. Thought I would mention it so Windows user could consider it.

      Hi,
      Interesting discussion.
While Wordpress can have some problems (which any site builder will have and even if you decide on doing a custom coding on dreamweaver, will have) all of that can be taken care off.
Any functionality that you want can be added to a wordpress website.. And if editing and customization is the problem, I found Thrive Content Builder to be taking care of all of that as well. It is a beautiful plugin to have for Wordpress..
So for me.. it is Wordpress all the way..
BTW, I too started with Dreamweaver and still use it for building and managing a few sites.

      Cheers!

Dreamweaver is worth learning how to use but if you just want a simple site and don't mind the underlying code Adobe Muse is easy and getting better all the time

Definitely WordPress. We add-on to WordPress whatever we need. Lately it's been Optimize Press that we have been using to build sites. But that is because it offers what we need: Funnels, sales pages and membership. If we have different needs we'll use a different plugin or professional theme.
