Hi, warriors

My friend need to upgrade website, he need to add forum,
he thinks to create it by himself (but it takes time & energy)

Maybe someone can give advice with choices, are there easy way how to implement it.

He created his website old fashion way by creating himself.

PHP / HTML / CSS / MySQL

Thanks to everyone who helped!

P.S. Sorry for bad English, if have more questions please ask.

I use forum software called phpBB (version 3.x). It's very versatile, but at the same time so easy to use that even a completely incompetent non-techie person like me can cope with it quite well. (I use only a fraction of its available features, though.) It's free, as well.

    Visu labu ...

Use simplemachines. It's preloaded as an option with Cpanel. It is very easy to setup.

To get your forum going, hire cheap forum posters. Pay based on quality not volume though.

We have created our own and not used some forum script, this makes it easier to keep the design of the site, depending whether that's your first priority.

It also depends on your needs, whether you want all the features available in these script, or just a simple forum where people just post questions without all the options.

If he knows how to develop a site, i think you should go for a custom forum to match your site, looks more professional imo.

I 2nd what Alexa says - I've been using phpBB for a while now, and you just can't beat it's ease of use for all the features it has. There are also a multitude of themes available for it, as well.

I've used phpBB and it's great. Although, my next forum I may try MyBB.

Are you looking for free or paid forum scripts?
Personally, I love XenForo, but a license is $140. For free scripts, phbb or MyBB are the best ones you can use, they're user friendly which is most important.

Thanks, for info! But my friend think to create by himself, because he need to implement previous registration form.
