Default Interpsere Shopping Cart - another one I'll be trying

Hi,

Is anyone using Interspere Shopping Cart? I'll be getting a 300 bucks version to test it. They claim it's dead easy and you don't need any html knowledge etc, but it's hard to believe. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Interspere and if it's any good.
I need to have something working in the next 6 weeks, and have Shopp and Interspire on my mind. I tried joomla and oscommerce before and want to stay away from open source now I also tried Yahoo e-commerce and a couple others.
I would be good to share our opinions on e-commerce - would make life easier....

Many Thanks

JJ

Is this a software system which you will install yourself? I don't think this is a monthly subscription, but I would prefer a system with a monthly subscription which will be hosted for you. It is more convenient as you won't have to think about maintaining your shopping cart.

Why don't you guys write a full fledged shopping cart plugin for WP? One that has all the features of something like OSC? I have been looking for one for quite some time and cannot find anything that does what I want it to do. Feel free to PM me about this.

I'm a long time web developer. I've seen a number of systems, open source, off the shelf, and proprietary.

My recent favorite for setting up a FREE shopping cart that requires minimal maintenance is drupal.org + the ubercart.org module.

Completely free, completely open source code if you need stuff modified, and plenty of features for standard web transactions. Tons of payment options, robust configuration opens for a free system, and if you do need to get under the hood the code is actually pretty manageable. (Nothing like the nightmare of osCommerce. I'll never touch that again!)

Plus, you can flesh out Drupal with a whole bunch of other modules to build out a community, continuity programs, affiliate programs, etc.

It's a highly flexible and useful system that's quite well maintained, especially considering it's all free.

For just a shopping cart, you should be able to throw it up in a weekend following online tutorials. If you've got a webbie to do it for you, or someone with Drupal experience, they can get you set in a matter of a few hours. No monthly fee and long term stability & extensibility. I definitely recommend looking into it!

Hit the Thanks in the lower right if you found this post useful. Thanks! ;-)

Thank you guys for all the info

I kind of got lost on my holidays I did set interspire though - kinda happened beyond my control, so with this particular shop I'm stuck with Interspire. Testing Starter Edition and seems to work fine.

Now I'll check out the rest of the systems you mention.

This thing was very hard form me - as I started about two years ago with joomla (this thing nearly killed me), went through bigcartel, yahoo e-commerce, and now ended up with interspire.

And I agree on wordpress - I personally thing wordrpess will be number one platform to do virtually everything including ecommerce. As far as I'm concerned there are two good solutions for the wordpress and I'll be testing very hard one of them - shopplugin. It has a downside though, which is not acceptable for me. I doesn't offer affliate engine, and this was very important for me>

On the other hand wp-ecommerce plugin offers affliate engine, but is too buggy to bother with if you don't have all the time in the world.

Thanks Again,

JJ

Interspire shopping cart is dead set easy to use, just as the advertising says. It is expensive starting at $300 USD and has an 8 Mb limit for downloadable products. But it is very well developed and intuitive to operate. The best I have ever seen.

Interspire shopping cart, I have just found out from support, does NOT have an 8Mb limit for digital products. The limit is governed by your server, which will always be more than your would ever require. This 8 Mb limit is only a restriction on the demo site.
