Build landing pages for free?

I'm just starting with list building and I'm at the stage where I need a landing page. Is there a way to build a nice landing page using wordpress for free so that I can use Aweber form?

I realise that there are plugins such as optimizepress and lead pages but I can't afford them yet but I need something to do the job temporarily until I make some sales and can then afford a decent landing page creator.

Why don't you code a simple HTML5 landingpage and put it on your website?
It's 100% free and easy to do.

Search for free landing page templates. You will find a lot of crap, but maybe a few good ones. You don't need to code from scratch but can just edit the required parts. Really, this is a good time to learn and although you don't need these skills to be an internet marketer, you will forever be paying people if you don't at least learn the basics. I became *reasonable* at simple coding through the same necessity - ie broke! It really is the mother of invention and has probably saved me 000's over the years!

Failing that, what about Kompozer? Free and no coding required.

I'd really like to learn some coding but also I want to get going as soon as possible. I'll check out Kompozer, thanks.

That is a good starting point. In fact, I think my first coding was in editing small portions of a website in another web design program - Serif WebPlus (highly recommended but costs a few $$$). I am not the sort of person who works A-Z through a course - they bore me! You can learn a lot my taking something apart and seeing what makes it tick - and what you can do to fog it up completely! That is how I tend to do things. Anyhow, best of luck with the project.

Not scared of getting my hands dirty at all, in fact I want to but I want to get going as quickly as possible too which is why I asked for a Wordpress theme/plugin so I could just install it and get my page up quickly. I realise that it's not possible to do this without the cash so I'm going to give Komposer a go.

That was meant more as showing the opportunity rather than criticizing. It did look harsh! That's why I deleted it straight away - I'm amazed you had time to reply to it, it was literally posted and then gone in under a minute!!!

Good luck with the project, I really mean that. I am sure if you have any stumbling blocks on building a landing page, someone here will have been there before and be able to advise you well.

To be honest, not being able to afford OptimizePress and the like can be used to your advantage here. Instead of investing the money for an automated system that churns out pages looking like everyone else's OptmimizePress landing pages, you can use the time to learn how to manually make landing pages in Wordpress yourself. Maybe later you will invest in a page creation plugin (PT Instant is very good, too), but in the meantime you can learn a useful basic skill for an internet marketer.

It's not really difficult and in the time it takes you to wonder what free options there are, you can be halfway through making it! Check out a few other people's landing pages, see what is on them and check out how the graphics are placed to guide the user to the signup box, then try making your own one in Wordpress with that inspiration. Will the first one be a dog's dinner? Probably, but you will have learned a ton!

You might also try Googling 'free landing page templates wordpress'.

Thanks, I did try googling free templates. The ones that I would actually consider using are what I would call freemium not free.

Put me in the "skip Wordpress and use simple HTML" camp.

If you need inspiration, try a site like Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates. or do a search for "open source web design". Find a template you like, then spend an hour or two on simple tutorials to customize it.

If all you want is a landing page, especially a simple squeeze page, a full WP install is overkill.

Thanks, I'll probably give this a go. I'm not too good with CSS though which is usually a problem for aligning email submission boxes etc.

There are so many of us that have a hard time with creating landing pages. Here's IDEA for Warrior Creator My daughter who is almost 21 used a program when she was 12 to build a website and hosted herself that I had gotten off the Internet. It was called How To Build A Website In 5 Days. It used Camtasia. He simply had you watched a module and then do what he did and then each time refresh your screen to make sure you were doing it right. From Start to Finish into C-panel FTTP the whole shebang,

Imagine if someone here would take the time to Create a JVZOO Product like that. It would fill a need that cause on every Forum someone ask "I Need Help Building A Landing Page"

If someone does not do it I hope to make my first Million with this and if you do produce this PM I will be your first customer
