Is a $1000 justified for SkaDate?

I am planning to build a 100% free Christian dating site and get my money back through ads. I have been shopping for a PHP script to build this site on and I haven't seen anything as good as SkaDate IMHO. When I went to the order form the cost quickly jumped from $399 to over a thousand when I added options. Now to those who have run dating sites before, do you think this cost is justified?

  • I guess that depends on the ROI your going to see on your investment. If the site a fantastic success generating $100,000 of revenue in ads then of course it's a no brainier. However, if you have no experience running such a site and your only going to make $0.001 a month in ad revenue, then it will take a long time to justify the expense.

People that have developed products have the right to sell them for whatever they like. It's not about justification. It's about the Darwinian principles of business. Sometimes it makes sense to charge high simply to prevent tyre kickers from sucking up support time. $1,000 represents a significant barrier to entry, which filters out the sort of customers you don't want. I.E. hubristic fantasists, or people that are going to demand huge amounts of support without reading the documentation.

It sounds like you've done your research and found the best solution. Only you can decide if it's worth it.

Since you are a Dating Factory affiliate I will take your word for it. I'm sure you would tell me if Dating Factory was better than SkaDate
